Oregon's Forum

Hello all,

I wanted to start a string of posts related to RE investing that is occurring in Oregon and create a comfortable location to network. I have been on Dean's website for about 8 months and have not seen many posts from the State of Oregon. So, here it is, a simple place to network and develop good local business relationships through the DG network. Please post if you will and PM people if you are uncomfortable with this general forum or want to share your contact info with someone.

Here is a little about us to start it off.
I am a investor in the Salem area and am working on developing a network of people in Oregon to work with. We currently have rental property in Salem and have invested on a small level for years (rehabs, rentals, etc.) in many different States. We have mainly lived in the properties as we fix them to sell or rent. As I dig into increasing our investing in Oregon, it does seem as if there is a lot of legalities that must be understood to stay out of trouble in this State. I am not apposed to investing out of State, but know that there has got to be some means to make it happen here in Oregon with some of Dean's techniques.

We have purchased many of Dean's products from 09-10 Edge events on dvd and the success academy to many of the books and other products. I have learned from each one of the products that I have purchased and each has helped push me in moving forward on a larger scale. Currently, we are really trying to figure out what will really work in our area (within State Legalities) and particularly work for us and our investment goals.

I also want to encourage you all to go to a local investor association meeting. These people are a blast to network with. You will be amazed at how creative and like minded in thought you may be with many of them.

So, please send me your info by Private Message or post here and lets get a group together on this site and in the area to figure out how to make it happen in Oregon.

My belief is that networking is the key to success. We must all learn from each other to be successful and do it right.

Good luck to all.
now is the time,

Jeff

Oregon Legalities and Networking

I wanted to post again in hopes of getting additional investors in Oregon together. So far I have had a few PM's arrive, but know that there are more investors out there to network with. Here is my theory on figuring out how to deal with the Oregon legalities. First of all there is a group that meets in Portland once a month to discuss legal issues and foreclosures as part of the North West REIA group. I will be attending this meeting at the end of the month.

Secondly, I feel that the best way to ensure we remain within the State Laws is through networking and getting together to have issues reviewed by Oregon Lawyers. I know that financially working together to become educated on this is going to be much more reasonable if we each pay for it separately.

So, add your input to this Post and lets start learning from each other and together. The deals are here and so are the investors. We just have to figure out how to deal with the system.

Also, please, whatever you do don't let a RE Agent push you around. It sounds to be a common theory in the Willamette Valley and probably the rest of the U.S for that matter. I have had good and bad experiences over the years. If they are rude, negative, close minded or not open to finding new ways to be successful, move on. There are great agents out there that fully understand investors.

Thanks for the read,

Jeff

Hello!

I'm in Portland. I would really appreciate having locals to work with. Our state does have some interesting laws regarding foreclosures. I'm interested in getting together a buyers and sellers list that would work for me in the area. What day and time is that meeting and which club is it?

Portland REI meetings

Google "North West REIA" and check it out on line. They offer lots of meetings of all different sorts and they are packed with local investors and professionals. I usually attend the meetings in Tigard at the Baja Fresh.

interested in Oregon

Hi I live in Colorado right now and am thinking about relocating to Oregon, probably Portland. I would like to part of this group and become educated in the state's differences. What things are you all discovering that is different then other parts of the county?

Theresa

Central Oregon

CASH BUYERS NEEDED IN CENTRAL OREGON!

I have been researching the market here intensly for a few months and I am ready to to my first assignment deal although I live in Central Oregon ( about 85 miles from Eugene). I need to build a buyer's list so I can lock up a property with buyers in place. If your buyers would be interested there are incredible deals coming out of the woodwork here! A guy I work with has a 3,000 plus sq ft house on 5 acres that his realtor originally listed for $400,000 a year ago. he went down to $190,000 and gave up. I talked to him and he told me he owed $183,000 and wants to move to Las Vegas as soon as possible. This is just one I stumbled on. I see them everywhere! I just looked at an REO today that sold for $1,200,000 in 2005 at the peak and is listed for $399,000 now. 9 acres with a 3 bedroom house and many outbuildings on the south side of Redmond (which I found out through my father-in law who works for the city is the direction they plan to expand in the near future). There is a subdivision about 200 ft away on the other side of a dirt burm. This place will sell for big bucks when things start moving again. I am in construction and things seem to be slowly gaining momentum. I can get killer deals, so if you have serious investors interested in Central Oregon please get me their contact info or I will give you mine. Thanks, Ben
