My town has about 25,000 people I think, and I have found no REI clubs. I'm trying to get started in another city two hours away, so I won't really be able to go to meetings in that city. I thought I'd use facebook and LinkedIn, like Carol Stinson to network with other investors and real estate professionals online in that city. Maybe you could try that?

Yes, I am already doing that Rueben. I just wanted to attend locally with other investors and network that way.

Im in Las Vegas Nevada. I joined 7 REI clubs and so far only 1 is holding meetings. i mailed members in all these groups and thet 1 was the only one that let me contact members. all the others say send mail to director and he/she will send to members..done that and no one got a single mail and no meetings since june.

this means i quit these other groups and look for more. just keep trying

Try contacting the national office for REIA
They will let you know what is available.

You may also check into something call Meetups.

They are grass roots groups that spring up by individuals for any number of subjects all across the country.

They are very popular with real estate groups and investors.

These are grass roots groups of like minded people who don't want to invest in required dues, fee's, and the expensive educational seminars.

Meetups just get together, share ideas and exchange business.

There are many, many, many real estate investment meetup groups within a short drive of my regional area and may provide ideas and get togethers of like minded people for you.

In the Denver area we have 5 or 6 REI clubs. Ranging from 100 to 1500 members!
The most expensive one is $199 a year I think. A big $16.58 a month. Find one buyer or seller and do 1 deal for $1000 and you can pay for 5 years of membership. A couple are free. You can pay at the door also only$10.00 to $20.00 per meeting. Plus, Tammy is right about the FACE to Face networking. It
is invaluable. Who is using what hard money lender, investor friendly agents, who is using which title company, contractors, inspectors ETC ETC. Plus they get to put a face with the name. When they meet you, like you and trust you they will do business with you.

I am finding the same thing.

I was very excited to find that there were 6 clubs in central VA. I've attended 2 meetings so far and I was the only person to show up for both meetings. There are 2 more scheduled for this week. I will keep my fingers crossed. Best of luck!

Just wanted to comment on that, I found a club in Baton Rouge, La called the Ring. You can join online and post deals it looks like. I'll try getting in touch with them and see what happens.

REI clubs are constantly changing as does real estate. Many people have benefited from them as well as myself. In some areas of the country they tend to be stronger than others.
I talked with a client that went to one the other night and 250 people were there including r.e. agents that specialize in working with investors doing their networking. That was in Arizona.
It may be the case where you can start your own. Consistency is what makes these work. What I mean by that, meeting at the same place and same day and time. Make them easy for people.
