Just tried calling some competitors "We Buy Houses" numbers.

First number got phone system recording "Not reachable" and some weird code explaining why (??)

The second guy, first said, "I BUY houses, not sell them." When I said, "Yes, but when you BUY them, don't you then SELL them?" Of course, all his houses THEN are "in escrow". (Yeah, we've used that one before)

When I tried to tell him my parameters of what I'm looking for (not that he bothered to ask), he just cut me off with, "When I get some more I'll call you." Good Bye.

Feeling very happy with my competition. Smiling

I have done the same thing recently

I think there is a perception that if you put bandit signs in the ground it will automatically make you money.

However, the truth is that you have to work real estate actively and continuously learn how to market, promote and position yourself for success.

I think 95% of bandit sign posters actually do harm to the 5% of people that know what they are doing and can actually back up the "WE BUY HOUSES" that they put on their signs!

I usually hang up on these and shake my head... what REALLY kills me is when they answer and LOUD background noise drowns them out!! I don't care if it's music,TV, kids screaming, dogs barking, etc ...I'M DONE - call me back when you can find a quiet place, Thanks

This is a PRIME example of you taking Action WITHOUT Learning OR Knowing what you're Doing. (it happens ALL the time - and gives the REAL REI's a Bad name)

As Bill said above " position yourself for success" - well, YOU CAN'T do that WITHOUT out Knowing WHAT you're doing!

EVERYONE wants to go out and make BIG money in REI, and you CAN!!!...but, NOT WITHOUT Knowledge, that's why YOU NEED to LEARN what you're trying to do BEFORE you go out an TRY to.

Pretend and use Monopoly or Fake money UNTIL you Know Your market.

Take a deal you see and "Follow it" from listing to sale and IF your assumptions/predictions and Numbers shows true, you'll KNOW that you're on the right path and can follow the next deal OR join IN. This way you DON'T lose anything AND you get the Experience!

Go to Open Houses and Foreclosure Auctions, you'll see the trends and find the Buyers!

REI, IS the "Greatest Business" in the World, BUT you Have to KNOW.

I cant even believe that??? I am a novice trying to learn all I can, reading and asking questions. I have bandit signs out I have my Google voice number on the signs, I let them leave a message, and then I grab a pad and pen, look for a quiet place and time to speak to them and try to get as much information as I can. As a novice I know that I dont know everything, I know I put my foot in my mouth at least once. So What I do now with sellers at least is I take all the information on that I can get and then tell them that Im going to speak with my partner or something and that Ill call them back in a day or 2. That gives me time sit down on the computer and find out the value of the property and figure out what type of deal might work best for there situation.
With buyers again I wait till I can talk somewhere quiet and have like 15 minutes that I wont be bothered before I call back. Again I ask questions and let them speak, I find that if I stay quiet they usually tell me most of what I want to know.


I use PatLive for bandit signs

I use a service called PatLive for my bandit signs, they assign me a number that I put on my bandit signs and then the calls go there and there is a receptionist that screens the calls and sends me an email with all the info I requested, this way someone always answers the phone and gets the same info for me. Bad thing that I just learned this morning is, if someone does not like your signs(not sure if its the county or competition) they can call your number a ton and your charged your $1.06 for each minute whether they hang up or not. CRAP! Just got home from church with 5 calls from one number so I called PatLive and they have blocked the number and credited us $5. I also tried to call the number they are calling from but it goes right to voicemail. I hope they don't use another number and keep playing this game, I'll have to go back to church again with the way my mood is changing. HA HA
