I need a plan B. :/ Thoughts?

I need a plan B. :/ Thoughts?

Well,

I'm in a fix here. My town does not allow lawn signs on public property, nor do they allow bandit signs on telephone poles. We had two of our lawn signs taken down by township guys who called us and told us we could only put signs on private property or we would be hit with a $2000 fine, money we don't have, so we're dancing through a minefield right now. We have been careful to put signs on private property (e.g. empty buildings and empty shopping centers, open land), but we haven't touched any telephone poles.

However, I have seen signs posted around our town on telephone poles by one business specifically that buys junk cars. It's always the same sign, with the same number, and they've last for a while. I finally called the number today and the lady I spoke with said that different towns have given them different amounts of grief about it. Sometimes a warning, sometimes leniency. She said the signs were illegal in Hamilton. I asked her if they had gotten fined by Hamilton, where we live, and she said yes, they have.

Any thoughts or suggestions? This was mainly a brainstorming post. Thanks everyone!

Vincent

Advertise other places

What about food stores, Shop-rite, Path-mark etc...don't they have bulletin boards in the entrances/exits. Other stores sometimes allow you to put flyers inside their windows, tell them you'll give them a small fee if you obtain any leads from their place.
Put business cards everywhere. Try a "penny-saver" type of paper... remember, 1 deal will more than pay for advertising.

How bout not putting a phone

How bout not putting a phone number on the signs that can be traced back to you. There are services that will give you a generic number and it can be forward to you or you can have a prerecorded message for buyers or sellers. How can they fine you if they don't know who you are.

ok I saw another person on here with a similar situation

He posts them up Fri night in the evening and pick up Sunday in the evening. I can't remember who the poster was but their city had ordinances that ptohibited the signs so they put them out after city workers hours and picked up before city offices opened mon morning. Holidays allow an extra day!

10.ask the pizza delivery person to advertise on the car for something in exchange such as $$ or a deal on a property or be willing to work the weekend or 2 behind the counter.

Jay has some great

Jay has some great suggestions. Also you may want to approach private houses that are on a corner /area you want to post a sign at and ask if you can post on their property. They may have a tree that you can attach a sign to or a lawn. offer them compensation if you get a lead that you close on from the sign in their yard.
Home depot and other places like that are a good place to put a sign also.

good luck
Richie

Thanks, everyone! This has

Thanks, everyone!

This has been really helpful! Richie, I was just thinking about that myself: who we know that lives on a street corner or near some decently trafficked areas.

Gary and Jill, Yes, I have

Gary and Jill,

Yes, I have taken note of the boards in grocery stores the past couple days. We've gone in a bunch of different grocery stores around town while hunting for redbox movies in kiosks! Smiling Now, I'm being conscious of checking each one as soon as I enter.

Signs

An Investor told me a long time ago he paid a home owner in Long Island to put sign in her front yard to sell his listings. my suggestion is if you talk to home owners nicely ask if you can post a sign FSBO in their property when your property sells you will give them something for the help . I am in Fl my area you have to put out Fri evening and pick up Sun night. or your fine will empty your BA.I haven't done it as yet but I have spoken to a few people already and they agree for me to put post my sign in their yard. Good Luck.

It's Often Overlooked

It's Often Overlooked...................However, for a small payment, dinner, some movie tickets or even a "party space" at one of your empty properties..........I find eager teens that would like a p/t job, absolutely love to dress in funny costumes i.e.(clown, gorilla, princess, etc.) and Hold a SIGN of your choice or liking. It is UNBELIEVABLE how many calls you will actually get................This being primarily because they have SEEN and READ your sign.

Also i saw someone on

Also i saw someone on youtube who posted signs on foreclosed homes to find cash buyers. But of course you have to do this before a realtor starts to market it.

This has been great stuff so

This has been great stuff so far, everybody! Thanks! I know bandit signs are a big part of marketing, and to have that weapon taken out of my tool box means I'm going to have to try that much harder to be creative. You guys are helping a lot!
