I have finally taken the step. I've hired an assistant. I found myself running around with my head cut off. Between my businesses, coaching for dean, my family, church responsibilities, friends and such it has just been too much.
I just hired my assistant mickey over the weekend to help me with all those items that don't make me money. She is going to take care of so much for me I already feel the release of pressure. It is an amazing feeling. I'm so excited getting her going and automating things so I can just focus on real estate. OOOOOhhh that will be nice.
I'm so excited for the direction and success. the future looks amazing.
Also i'm going to Lake Powell tomorrow for a week and what is amazing is my business is going to keep running without me.
Dean really has taught me so much. At the Edge event he pounded in me that I need to get rid of all the junk in my life holding me back to focus on creating deals. It took me a few months longer than I wanted, but I'm here and i'm not going to go back.
Thank you dean for inspiring me.

Having an assistant might seem like a financial sacrifice upfront, however in the long run it will pay for itself 100 times over. You can hire an actual assistant or a virtual assistant (VA) ... Either way it will allow you to give specific assignments to somebody else and have you focus on the bigger picture. So often we let the small stuff keep us down, but with an assistant you are able to assign misc. jobs to them and allow you to focus on your end goal. Plus having an assistant is great for accountability ... you will rely on one another to accomplish your weekly, monthly and yearly goals.

Dean has taught us that we all have a unique ability; that is, there are things that we are really good at; ideally we should spend our time on activities that we excel on, and the least amount of time on activities that we are not good at; if we get people on our team who are good at performing the tasks that we don't like to do, then our business will thrive. We can make a list of items that we don't like taking care of, and then when we interview people for assistants, we find out if they will enjoy and excel doing those items....

Your absolutely right. I just met with my assistant this morning and I am now taking her responsibilities to the next level. She has been working out well and I am so grateful for her taking on the things that just done make any money for me. She is now taking care of my books and keeping my expenses in order. It has taken a huge burden off of me I hate spending my time where I know it doesn't make sense, also it has freed up a ton of time for me as well which I love.
I am really enjoying having her here in the office. and helping in my business. I'm creating these systems right now that are becoming automated and I love it.

Its good to see that at all levels no matter were you are in REI you can keep learning and growing,it sounds like this was a big step for you to let go of some control and take that step, good for you!
Coming from someone new I see how important it is to have systems in place and starting them off right from the start is very important,as our business grows as hard as it is we must grow also.
Thanks for sharing this coach

A lot of people don't understand this concept yet on paying someone else to take care of the things that make you the least money and focus all your time on the things that make you the most money. I always understood this concept but when I heard Dean explain it at the 2013 Edge event it really hit me. So now I have ads running on craigslist for interns to get a chance to work with a real estate investor and gain the knowledge, take care of all the things I hate to do so I can focus on the things I like to do and make me the most money.

I really appreciate the comments. I really love real estate and I love the support network that dean provides through this site. I read and re-read experiences that create motivation and change within me. Thank you for your support. We are all heading in the direction of achieving our goals and dreams and love to be a part of this network.
Thank you again.
Just an update. I have now turned over all my bandit sign advertising to Mickey and her husband. they are now placing them for me on a weekly basis. Oooohhh the joy of being able to do more in the same time frame. I can't believe I didn't' do this sooner.

Congratulations on hiring an assistant to help in your real estate business. In every business there comes a time when you have grown beyond the ability to do everything yourself and if you want to grow you will need help. The key to success is to surround yourself with successful people and hire people to work for you who are the best you can find. If each person you hire can make you a small percentage over what you are paying them, you will exponentially grow and make more money than you can on your own. Focus on the things you do best and let someone else do those chores you don't prefer. When I first started my construction company, I tried to do all the labor myself and only had time for a limited amount of work. After a few years, I started subbing out all the construction labor and just focused on finding more business and supervising the work. Before long I was making ten times as much I was in the beginning because there was no limit to the amount of work I could take on….
Guess the coaches also learn by doing and have to apply the steps!

Thank you for the response, that is great advice. I completely agree. Since I have hired her and have pushed daily tasks to her, she has taken so many things off my plate I can now actually grow. I felt so stagnant because I was having to do a lot of chores like book keeping that doesn't make any money. She is handling a lot of my marketing, my books, management of my rentals and seller finance notes. Wow, it is so hands off now I just get updates and that is it, I love it.
Thank you for the feed back.

Thank you, your right we are in the thick of it even as we are training others how to create this business. I have been investing for years and one of my crutches and insecurities I am learning to overcome is having others do work for me. I have always been so controlling and had a hard time passing things to others.
Since I have been applying what I'm learning from dean I am doing a lot more deals consistently, but also I am actually growing my business, with an office space now and I have an employee.
It is amazing.
