Hey I know all about overages!

I have my own refund business. So I know all about them. Differs a little state to state, though.

what state are good

what states are friendly, meaning which ones will give me the overage list with no problems.because i have read that you can get a percentage of the overages, when you find the person who's actually entitled to it.

Tax sales overages

Yes some state have passed laws regarding overages and collecting finders fees.does appear to be in those states where you can collect a finders fee could be very profitable. I would do some research on the contracts and legals. MichelleNicole

YES I KNOW!

yea MichelleNicole I know and I have done that but I have already got a couple of contracts Signed now I am in the process of getting the money!

darrell334

Are the overages found at the court house, paper, website? How exactly is someone to find the info? I know about tax sales is this something that is part of the tax liens? I will try to get some more information.
Thanks, Lisa

Hey

You need to go look up all the tax sale properties that were sold At the tax lien sale! It is public records the amount the property went for you can look up a lot so take the whole list! At the county courthouse! Tell the people who work there that you are do a study on the amount of properties that are being redeemed! Do not tell them what you are really do Because you want them to help you!Because you are taking money from the county and giving it to the people who need it and who it is owed to!Then you need to look up the law in your state about what happens to the money! Do not ask anyone you look for yourself. Very Important!!!!

taxes

Is this anything like recovering sales tax for tax exempt entities that were mistakenly charged sales tax. Here in Michigan you can go back four years (statute of limitations) to recover past overcharges. Brad

darrell334

Thanks for the information. I will have to look into this a little more. Also for the heads up on not telling them why I need this information.

THE LAW!

Yes but what does the law in your state say! This is very important!!!! Don't ask anyone LOOK 4 yourself! Here in Alabama its 3 years but the law says before the 3 years after 3 years they don't have to give it to you they can just say NO!

Just say no...

Darrellf334, do you mean that after three years they do not have to sell it to you OR do you mean that if you bought the certificate and waited the three years that at the end they do not have to award you the property?
I am in Alabama as well and just this minute came back from getting the royal runaround at the property tax office. Needless to say I am curious to read your answer.

Tax sales

Hello Darrel,

Have you had to put up any registration fees to participate in some of the tax sales?

Tax Overage Limits

Texas has a $1,000 limit on the fee collected and requires a court order! Which states are the easiest to collect from with a minimum of difficulty?

TOTALLY CONFUSED ABOUT OVERAGES WHERE DO I START AND HOW

DARREL U SEAM VERY KNOWLEGEABLE ABOUT OVERAGES. I AM INTERESTED IN COLLECTING TAX OVERAGES. I THOUGHT AN OVERAGE IS MONIES THAT IS DUE TO PEOPLE THAT DONT KNOW, AND THAT I AM CONTACTING THESE PEOPLE TO LET THEM KNOW. WHILE AT THE SAME TIME TELLING THEM THE PERCENTAGE I WILL CHARGE TO RECOVER THE FUNDS. I ALSO THOUGHT THAT PROPERTY OWNER NEED TO FILL OUT FORMS THAT SHOULD BE NOTORIZED IN THE EVENT THAT THE DONT WANT TO PAY. BECAUSE ONCE THEY FOUND OUT ABOUT YOUR SOURCE THAT CAN GO AHEAD AND ACCESS THE SYSTEM ON THEIR OWN. WHAT I NEED IS MORE INFORMATON ON OVERAGES IN STATES SUCH AS ARIZONA, TEXAS, LAS VEGAS AND POSSIBLY CALIFORNIA. I AM LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO TALK TO ONE ON ONE ABOUT THIS PROCESS. TOTALLY CONFUSED PLEASE HELP. READY TO MAKE SOME MONEY

Before you tell them anything!!!

Before you tell them anything you will send them a contract to sign so if they try to get the money without you then you still get a %! Very important!Yea and they are suppose to get the overages but the county does a half-ass job on contacting the people! Because they want that money!I will be more than willing to help you anyway I can!

no registration fees

Rita hey no fees!! You walk in sign the bidders sheet and they give you a number to bid by! Very simple folks! Don't make it hard because its not hard!A Cash And Carry!

Tax Sale and foreclosure overages

Wsup darrell334, finally someone is knowledged about excess proceeds. I need help in North Carolina on how to acquire the lists of the unclaimed and correct process to collect. Your input would be greatly appreciated. You are also very ,very right on how tight lipped everyone is with this privileged info because i have a friend in the Atl that actually does it for a living and will not tell me and i am not even in the same town as he. In my book, their's enough for everyone and i practice paying it forward.

quinton ( tax overages)

where can the proper agreements that the person being owed money be accessable to me so they can sign to lock them in???

Virrginia

in reference to tax sale overages and the fact that Virginia is a "commonwealth" do you know if the process is diferent here in Va ?

hey yall!

Yall can't be afraid of going to the court house and looking up the "Law" Yourself! This is very Important because we have had problems with the Government in Alabama not wanting to give up the money so they lie & give you the runaround! And we have had to sue them just to get the money from them!So let me stress please go look it up don't ask anybody anything except where are the Books! It might be online! But we printed our law out & then took it to the lawyer we were going to use!And talked about it and so on & so on!

overbids

Where did you learn about ovebids - Lane? Thanks for the great information.

Where do I look

Hi Darrell,
I've seen some of your posts and I must say I love that you have knowledge that others don't. Where did you learn your techniques? I am trying to find a niche to work on here in NY and I would think that due to the high price of property taxes and the abundance of foreclosures here I might be able to make a good income with this. But you mention looking up "the law" in your state to find out about statutes. What law am I looking for, and where do I find it? I know nothing about legal issues, or looking up info other than talking to a lawyer. So I need a detailed response to this: I walk into the county courthouse (which one? the Supreme Court?) and I say what? Then when I get access to "the books" where do I look? sorry if this seems vague, but I really don't know the first place to start.

Also, does this make sense to you?
I've recently contacted the county treasureres office a few times because there's a house I'm looking at that owes back taxes, and the woman on the phone told me "We don't sell tax leins". Then how do they raise money? And who eventually pays the lein? I'm assuming then it's all bundled together and sold as one at the tax sale?

Thank you for your insight.
-Allison

Allison Hi I'm in Monroe

Allison Hi I'm in Monroe county, and here you can go on line the county website and look up a property tax history. If there are back taxes owed you can pay them off and then you are the lien holder. Now you can't foreclose on the property for three years but you have to be paid before that property can change hands,no matter who buys it. With pretty good interest on it.

I bet it's the same in your county since it's NY too.

Hey there Jim

I know we think it should be the same since we're both in NY, but nope. I've called about it and the county does not allo the public to purchase tax leins or pay off the taxes owed on someone elses property. They only allow the public to purchase at auctions! Doesn't that suck! That's what I don't understand. Why would they do that? Don't they want to make money now?

Anyway, thanks for the info. Unfortunately it can't help me here. But I'm thinking up a plan to use this to my advantage somehow. I may try targeting these homeowners instead of dealing with the county.
