Weekly Wisdom #145

Hi Dean,
I've always prided myself on achieving goals and I have achieved a lot of them in spite of the odds. I still have a long way to go. In the financial services, we were always told to say : "What if I do". I believe they were trying to teach us positive thinking, but like you said "What if I don't" helps us more, because we will feel the pain of not reaching it, we will push much harder to actually achieve our goals. Thanks for always looking out for us. In the last blog, for some reason, whenever I tried to sign in, I guess I was making a mistake. I could not get signed in, so I could not make a comment about it. At least I took the first step and ordered the two books. I will take further action as time goes by.
Waiting to hear the next set of pearls of wisdom in your next Weekly Wisdom.

Talk to you soon,
Annis

Thanks!

Got your email message about priorities and goals setting.

Regards,
Stanleybruce Okonedo.

Many times

Dean -

Great video and great new name for the Weekly advice you give us.

Many times, we all simply get into the habit of just living. We fall into complacent structure because it's the easy way to just get thru each day, it seems.

Listening to this message helps us all to look right at our "habits", stare into the mirror and ask, all of the above that you've just guided us to review.

I really like the $5,000/month suggestion.
5k x 12 = $60k (that's all)
Which means most would still be in the lower middle income bracket, yet it would be with so few manhours to accomplish, instead of working at a salary job where no OT is possible and yet you're still working 60-80 hours to achieve keeping that slave position at some company you don't really care for.

And, obviously, once you're able to achieve something as simply as $5K/mo., then doubling that, like a Backgammon cube is a much easier goal than it may have seemed prior to making that first goal.

I would think that all of us worry about the roof caving in on how this real estate investing game works. That's why each moves into the process in different ways and different speeds.

I've had your book for awhile now and finally this next month I am making moves to begin the process of finding houses and seeing if I can turn the process into something that will work for me, like it has for you. I now have a real estate guy willing to work with me and tomorrow I'm having breakfast with a Mortgage guy who may very well be the key to a FAST start like I"d prefer.

I'm one of those that starts off pretty slow, but once the pieces of the puzzle come together, I usually end up being either at the head of the line, or I'm number two, no matter how many there are. I see this as thee best way to walk away from the indoctrination that society always heaps on us. Break the mold and get into something new and exciting.

Thanks again, Dean.

PS: Hey partner - you're not allowing any new members on your Facebook page? LOL ... just checking.

Setting Goals

Thanks for always working on keeping all of your DG members focused on reaching our goals, your right about falling back into our old ways and getting complacent with just doing our day to day routine, I am going to purchase two more of your books and plan to make changes in my life before the year is out. Thanks for keeping us motivated to reach our goals.

Weekly Wisdom

Great start to the newly named weekly series.
The 'why' and the "what if I don't make the goal?" as well as the emotion make the goal real, especially if the goal is specific and time-sensitive. Sometimes at my age I feel as if it's too late for me, but the real estate program seems more than possible, so I am going back in. Thank you, Dean.

Hi Dean,

Until now, your weekly blogs have not been titled Weekly Wisdom but this re-naming is perfect because that is what they have always been. Smiling

I am very proud and honored to say that I have been with you since #1 Smiling

Wow, almost 3 years already, hard to believe!

You really have created something special here, I have made great friends on this site, some of them I have met in person (much to the horror of my 17 year old daughter ... meeting people you met on the internet is rarely recommended!) HA!

I do not have enough time to read through all of the responses you get but I know, without question, that I am echoed throughout the entire DG site by saying that you are more appreciated than you could ever imagine by all of us. Smiling

Thank you!
Angela

eekly Wisdom

Dean, Great name, again you get to the point and say what I need to keep going. Thanks

Weekly Blog 145

I'm not ignoring your blog nor have I lost that fire. I have just been spending my available time listening to all the mentors and retaining as much as possible. Along with working on my power team, especially my buyers. In Colorado every REI club has their meetings between 6 and 8pm Tuesday thru Friday. I have been going to some of them but then that means I have to catch up on the mentoring sesseions. I have also been working on setting up my web site and making flyers and signs. Now that you know I haven't been sitting on my hands; this is my goal and what drives me. My wife and I are in our early sixties and she works as an Asst Mgr for a Grocery chain. She puts in 70+ hrs a week usually 6 sometimes 7 days a week. I want her around for a long time and she can't keep doing what she is doing. The second reason is I want my family (3 sons and a daughter) that we put through college to be proud of us and have something that they can use to gain financial independence. Nothing is going to stop me from acheiving that goal and I do mean nothing. I have the upmost respect for you and your organization. I have gotten more useable information from just your 1st book "Profit From Real Estate Right Now" than I ever received from the other three supposed self acclaimed Gurus in the past. You have followed through with everything that you said you would,"and then some". Thanks for giving me and my family this opportunity to improve our life.
Very Sincerely
Renn Berry

My goal is ...

My goal is simple ... SELL THIS HOUSE! I wish to move to FL and this house is in Ohio. The reason I didn't make the seminar was I was completely busy last week and I couldn't make it. I could have kicked myself in the rear! So, sell this house and buy a house in FL is my goal! How can you help me?

Dean thanks for the wisdom

Dean thanks for the wisdom blog I have goals that I set in the past but haven't achieved. I haven't forgotten them but I may have put them to the side. I didn't give up but I haven't pressed towards the goals firmly. Im glad that this blog came right now so I could press towards my goals firmly. Failure is not a option and thanks for believing in me and my Goal that I set in motion even though I in progress of it is to be a real big success from the DG family. Thanks for the encouragement and I haven't given up its not one of my goals

Yes, setting goals is critical to your success!

I've heard you speak about the importance of setting goals before so for the first time in my life I took action and actually set realistically achievable goals for myself. I've been amazed at the difference in every aspect of my life. It keeps fresh in my mind each day exactly where I want to go and exactly what I must do to get there so I no longer get distracted and procrastinate. It's one of the signal most important things I've done for my business and for my personal life because it has made me more focused and productive. Thank you, Dean, for pushing me to set goals and take the actions required to actually achieve those goals in order to make my dreams come true!

GOALS!

Thank you for this weeks guidance. I sometimes feel like I am not moving forward and the problem may be in how I approach setting my goals. It is so easy to wonder through life and be lead instead of lead.

Dear Dean,

Thank you for this motivating goal talk. You really got me exited. I have always put my goals down but never included the emotion part of it. That's a new twist! Keep up the good work.

Goals

huw78's picture

Having recently hit a stumbling block I have now had to step back and look at my approach to my bussiness. My biggest faults I would say is organsitaion and time wasting on things that don't need to be done right now. so thanks dean for putting it into prosepective.

Goals video comments

Motivation and setting realistic goals has never been an issue for me. One factor one must not overlook is over extending one self. Dean what does one do when you have no resources to start with?

How about these goals:
1. Find a way to acquire Deans programs and financial backing in a win win scenario since I have none of my own money to invest up front in 30days.

2.Write a letter to Dean asking for help and to give ideas on how he can better help those of us with nothing to work with up front to start with. (already done three weeks ago with my personal address, phone, and email included.)

2. Use the knowlege to make a difference in my life and others in a truly humanitarian way starting out spending 6 to 8 hours a day earning at least 3000 per month.

3. Emotional reasons include peace of mind, satisfaction that my skills and abilities were not wasted in this life simply because the opportunity to shine were never easy or fell into my lap as was the case of so many others I have helped and sacrificed for over the years.

4. What if I don't reach it with Dean simply because current finances prohibit it? Keep looking for a cookie cutter that works for people who have nothing financial to work with to start with....ie smaller widgets and smaller dreams to grow with until I can afford to work with Dean financially.

Weekly Wisdom

Very appropriate name and the message is one for all of to remember and do NOW!! If not sooner.
Thanks again Dean.

goals

great blog on goal-setting, dean! thanks.

My goals and what they mean to me

My goals were to always keep my family stable and happy in life. I want to do well in real estate so my goal would be 15,000 at least a month. This is important to me because I have worked 72 to 84 hrs a week; just at my main job alone. I would love to have real estate as a main source of income; so I can spend 72 to 84 hrs solid family time. If I dont make at least 1500 a wk now then I consider it a full failure. Same with real estate if I did not make 15,0 m I would feel the same failure. I could not afford the rock bottom although I wish you could loan ppl the money up to 10 deals and the support team you would give me would profit from the 10 deals. That would be something I would like if I was one of your students teaching instead of me not being able to afford a course. Thnx Dean

Weekly Wisdom

Dean, I just want to thank you for the great inspiration that you give us your studants. Keep up the great work.
