Do you tell everyone you know you buy real estate?

Do you tell everyone you know you buy real estate?

Do you want deals to come directly to you without hitting the MLS first? Start telling everyone that you buy real estate. When I first got started I kept it a secret about buying real estate. It was almost like I was embarrased about it. Once I got over that fear and started telling people "I Buy Real Estate" I started getting calls from people wanting to sell. It is really great when you don't have any competition on a deal. Will you get criticized by some people when they find out? YES!!! It doesn't matter! It's worth it! Get it done! This is your chance!

Develop a niche

Good thought. Once you've broadcasted to all that you're buying homes, think about developing a niche. In a city as spread out as Denver, it's wise to get away from driving all over town to check out leads. If you instead, build relationships with individuals in a certain "hot area(s)," then you can be both time and cost effective with your overall search.

Would either of you

Would either of you recommend any organizations or business clubs that you may be involved with or know of to do some basic meet & greets?

Clubs

Get in touch with your local REI clubs. You should be able to do a search on the net to get a phone number and location. You will meet people from every aspect of real estate at those clubs. Who knows you may even find a mentor or partner.

clubs are great

I have one that O teleconference with and we gain a lot of good info from them but like cbr said - TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW that you are doing real estate - build and instant lead database

"FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION"

Pass out business cards...

Make it your goal to pass out 10 business cards a day. To the postman, the utility company rep, the grocer, the teller, the convenience store clerk, the neighbor, the librarian, the meter reader, the ups guy, the beautician, see that was a quick ten... LOL!

Embarrased?

Why would someone be embarrased that he/she "buys real estate?" I can't wait until I am able to tell people that I buy and sell real estate for a living and am able to live my own life and not someone else's. I also can't wait to be able to help people in need by taking mortgage payments off of individuals' hands and making them my own. That fuels me to want to do this, and all the while cashing in on doing what you are passionate about. This sounds exciting, doesn't it??
