Where's Waldo (the Owner)?

Where's Waldo (the Owner)?

I'm looking for a vacant property's owner. The assessor's website gives 2 out of state names/addresses. Researched through directory services for public phone # and was unlisted. I know there are tracer sites to find cell numbers, but that seems like it might come across as a bit invading on their privacy. One address goes to an estate and the other to a person. Any suggestions? Should I just send a letter stating that I'm interested in learning more about the property and to call me? The property has potential.

Suggestion

That would be a good place to start. Send the letter or the owners address (I know its out of state) is not too far then make the drive. But start with the letter and in Deans book you can find some good examples. Try sending letter to both the estate address and the owners address.

YES!!

Send letters to both places. Out of state owners is a great way to buy property. I have bought 2 that way.

Thanks for the info, Anita &

Thanks for the info, Anita & Mark. I'm sending the letters out today. I'll let you know if they respond.

I have used letters many times

The nice thing about a letter is you can clearly state your objectives and don't have to have an uncomfortable call. If they are interested they will call you if not don't worry and find another house Smiling

I agree, rpatten

Whenever I get going with pre-foreclosures, too, a simple postcard/letter will probably be my method of contact there also.

Those of you who have used the realtytrac website please let us know if it is worth the monthly fee. Do they do a good job of finding the owners?

Thanks, Zeek

Yes it is

I use it 10x a day to find things, like owners, lenders, stats, etc. I am really glad I invested in it. Deans Foreclosure Alert is a good one too.

there is a post in the forum called realtytrac.com...go to search bar in upper left and type that in and you should get lots of info on it

Anita,

How do you get information on this site such as owners, lenders, etc? I only see (trial for now) the name of the street for foreclosures. If I use the trial or signup, is that how I get the lender and or the owner???

Thank you
