You can be any age and have big or small goals/dreams. I’m going to list what mine were at different ages to give you an example.

At 19, our goal was to build a house and pay it off .
At 25, my goal was to purchase a couple of rentals to get some extra income to send our children to school.
Through the years we did some more REI stuff and
NOW,
At 41, after buying Dean’s book, I have realized there is no limit to what my goals can be!
For starters, my goal right now is 20 rentals with enough income for my husband to retire early (as soon as possible
And we’ll see what the future holds. I put no limit!

My goal was t always be self employed and retired by 45. After 3 bouts with cancer and not being able to work my business the way I wanted and having to sell them all off to pay medical bills after my insurance dropped me - here I am.
I was blessed to have been success full at all of the businesses I had but I ever got to ever really use any of the money I made due to my illness.
SOOOOOO.....
Now I am 38 yrs old - and I have new goals.
1 yr - I will own 5 properties in my own right (no family involvement)
I will perfect Deans system of buying with no money or little money down. Iwill hold all of my properties and build my net worth.
2.5 yrs - I will own 8 properties and have a net worth of 1/2 million.
5 yrs - I will have bought a million, own a million and will b receiving a million. I will be a Real Estate Millionaire
I have 2 great kid and a fabulous 80 yr old mom that I take care of and I am letting nothing stand in my way. The only thing that can stop me is me.
I am putting my finances in order, my credit I am watching like a hawk and I am studying EVERYTHING.

Ok, here's my short term goals.
1) By 2010, have done enough "lump sum profit" deals (short sales, flips/rehabs, etc.) to have paid off all debt I have - amount undisclosed
- including my house.
2) In the meantime (simultaneously) be building my portfolio of passive income porperties (Lease options, rentals, commercial) to never have to worry about myself or my wife "working" again.
3) Work out specific long term goals and continue to learn, do more deals, and take others along with me. We can all succeed together!!
I think this forum is great and I look forward to hearing others' aspirations!
P.S. - I have 8 short sale deals that I'm working on. If they turn out the way that I envision (1 in particular) I can almost achieve goal #1 with just these 8 properties. I'll post progress as it's made , but it may be a while as short sales can take several months.

I have always dreamed of owning a cattle ranch and raising horses. I also want to travel around the USA and to Italy where I was born.
NOW I want to own a cattle and horse ranch, travel around the USA and visit Italy where I was born. (some dreams NEVER change) But now I also want to take my family along the ride to do all of this. I see that happening thanks to Real Estate. I am just getting started in REI, but am positively optimistic about what it has in store for me.
To make those goals happen, I plan to have rental properties with a cash flow as well as attempting to flip some properties. In my part of the world (western Nebraska) I think rental properties will be better investment than flips right now. If I can get this accomplished here, then I plan to branch into different areas and get into bigger deals.
I keep telling myself, "Be optimistic, there are opportunities out there, just find them"!
