What are the benifits of attending an REI Club meeting?

Networking with other investors. Finding potential deals. Making contacts that can be used later for sales or assignments or even referrals. There are a lot of benefits. Attend one and find out how many. (smile)

"FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION"
Al,
When I lived in Tucson I attended a couple of REI clubs a few of times. One was a bigger club than the other. The smaller one was a bunch of investors meeting at a restaurant exchanging cards and info on deals, but it was free to attend. The second one was at the Doubletree with many more members. Before that club begins they have a meet and greet for an hour before hand where folks can mingle and hand each other their cards for their services. Then the first thing they do (after all the announcements are out of the way), is have anyone who has a deal or is offering services stand up and share what they're deal is or their service with their contact information. So Anita's right, it's a great way to meet other investors, rehabbers, realtors, mortgage brokers, contractors, etc. Now I haven't been to any here yet, due to my work schedule. But I believe the same guy that holds them in Tucson is the same guy from the club here, so it probably is the same curriculum. I was going to attend last month's (3rd Tuesday of the month) but my daughter was sick. I can't attend this months because I'll be back at work by then. They do cost to attend, it's cheaper if you pay in advance than at the door. Unless they changed that.

I wish there were Clubs closer to North West Iowa..... two hour drive for the closest one! May attend someday!
Or..... "thinking outside the box" maybe I should start one!!!!!! Any suggestion on how to start an REI club. I can think of the obvious things; like advertise and have a meeting, then see who shows up!
Any thing else I should consider?

Talk to some lenders, contractors, RE agents, and other investers. See if there is some interest. I think setting up a club is a great idea.

I was going to suggest that! Many times mortgage brokers, investors, title companies and realtors will partner with you. I worked for a mortgage broker in Tucson who would have these free seminars every weds. with guest speakers that would share experience, programs, etc. They would provide coffee, cookies or snacks he even did a subway sandwich, chips and a pop. With everyone pitching in it's pretty cheap and they all get the benefits out of it. I've attended other free meetings/seminars like that too, it's a win/win for everyone. Of course after you get established you can start charging admission or membership fees like the big clubs do. Think a little differently!
