Is expired listing illegal?

Is expired listing illegal?

Hey guys

An agent i am working with sent me this email today when i asked for an expired list of listings off the mls.

"I spoke with my broker today and he informed me that I am legally not able to send out the information on expired listings but that I can go over it with you in person andI would have to be the person to make contact with the previous seller. If this is ok with you let me know what works best for you to meet."

What are you'r guys thoughts, I was asking for the listings for Washington area as well if that helps any.

I did some research and didn't find any thing proving the agents statement true, so i am a bit confused

Thanks

David

I have my agent send me

I have my agent send me expired listings weekly. For some reason, it seems as though your agent is more comfortable meeting you in person and providing info. To my knowledge, it is NOT illegal. However, you do have to contact the sellers yourself.

Dump the agent and find a new one. I do expire listings every week. Just find a better agent, keep taking action..............John H.

Getting expired listings should not be illegal. However, in some states like mine, the seller may be legally bonded to their listing agents for another 30 days after the listing expired. This 30 days could also be different depending on what the seller agreed with their listing agent. Although expired listings are ok to get, the agents may have to go back to the listing agents if the listings just expired.

Not Illegal

Expired listings are properties that are on the MLS that didn't sell. You don't want them from that particular agency you want your realtor to send you ALL the expired listings in the areas that you are looking for properties in.

They should be able to set you up so they are sent automatically on a weekly basis.

I would find a new realtor if they are not willing to give you them.
