I put an add on craigslist looking for investors and i got an email from this guy. Heres what he wrote:
"Good day,I am a Canada based US investor currently offshore but willing to invest in this project. Do reply with the amount needed, brief summary and ROI, hope to hear from you soon."
So i sent him a a message back saying that I am mainly just looking for someone that invests in real estate. I have a system in place that currently allows me to find great deals on properties that are anywhere from 30-70% off FMV. Right now i am wholesaling these properties to interested investors. With the current real estate market at what it is i am finding these great deals everyday. I am also looking to buy properties dirt cheap and flip them to make a 20,000-30,000 dollar profit in the future. This is what he said:
Hello Tim, I'm glad to read from you and am ready to proceed with this deal, I'm OK with the ROl and all the arrangement but where in the state are you based because i will like to do some inspection and meet you in person??are you willing to sign agreement with me?? l will like to have your cell phone number for easy communication, are you willing to open a new bank account purposely for this business to make everything clean and transparent?? Am a successful business man and a professional INVESTOR / LENDER so i have many investment accounts in so many banks like, 53rd bank , statefarm bank, etrade bank , www.1stmidamerica.org, USAA bank, you can open an account with USAA online via www.usaa.com or Vanguard bank and open a new account with them online via this link, https://personal.vanguard.com/us/home?fromPage=portal , once the vanguard account as been approved i will attach my account to the new account and deposit some funds to the account to activate the account, i want this transaction to be the same bank to bank so i advice you to open an account with any of those banks so that everything can goes clean and smoothly, I would be willing to proceed asap on a good faith basics if you are ready.
Does this sound like a scame to anyone else? Ive been burned on craigslist before. Whats everyone this about this? sorry for the long read.
The English sounds suspicious.
I would possibly ask for some references of other US investors or bankers he has worked with, but it sounds a little scammy. If he gives you bank references, don't use the phone numbers he gives you. Look them up yourself.

I would say this is a waste of time and a SCAM.
1. Any high end investor with real cash would usually not be looking on Craigs List for investment opportunities.
2. Any investor can just wire their money to the title company or attorney to close a deal.
3. He says he already has multiple accounts, what does he need you to open one for besides a little bit of ID theft?
4. Like you said, it sounds to good to be true. When ever that happens, trust your instincts.

Tim, I agree with the previous threads. This individual is most likely a con artist and this sounds like a scam where someone is trying to steal someone else's identity. I would not response or open any of his emails because you never know.

Anyone asking to create another bank account or get information and you do not know them sounds like an online scam to me. They just want to get your personal data, information and take you through the ringer. If you are applying or creating these accounts online they maybe sending you to a phony site that looks like an official financial institutions site, but its not! Its a fraudulant site that just captures data.
