hey man I'm 26 I live with my parents and I'm also very nervous when it comes to investing. Heres the thing though if you read the books and stay on this site and surround yourself with like minded people. You can block out the negative influences in your life and move forward.

Real estate investing is a challenge if you make it a challenge its all up to you if you want to move forward and make money. Its not up to your mom,dad, or anyone else that tells you you can't do it.

If you challenge yourself everyday with at least 3 different things you would never try in real estate investing. I guarantee you this you will be surprised how easy it truly is.

I encourage you to

-find a local real estate investing club near you to attend
-build a buyers list
-and find an agent.

After that move on to the next steps in so on. Everything takes time so does real estate. If you keep at it just like anything else in life you will be successful bro.

Anyway I'm also scared at the moment to call this real estate agent about a property. I'm scared I may say the wrong thing and screw up the deal. But thanks to your post, I will go ahead and do it because after posting all of this I just realized fear is what holds everyone back. If I let my fear get the best of me I may never call and I may never make money. Anyway hope that helped.

I am new here as well and I have a daughter your age. Your mom may only be saying these things out of fear. Fear is a natural emotion to feel when you have to leave your comfort zone. Either way you need to follow your dreams you cannot let others tell you what you can and cannot do, especially someone who has not tried the system. Sometimes we have to step out of our comfort zone and go our own way. If you know your people do not support you then do not talk with them about your ideas because their negativity will make you doubt yourself. Come on this site and talk with people here. They have plans to change their lifestyle. You have to surround yourself with people that are positive and want nothing but to make more money and improve themselves. Keep your head up and stay motivated.

I have a little more encouragement than you do but I have plenty of negative people in my life as well. You know what you have and you want to better your life so just surround yourself with people on this site and keep reminding yourself of the goals and dreams you have for your family!

Read the books, stay focused and if you have questions don't be afraid to ask. Most everyone on this site is great and will help any way they can.

I am also a newbie, haven't done my first deal yet , but I can see it coming.
I go to this site a lot , I talk to a personal mentor of mine from time to time, in other words surround yourself with positive like mined people. I went from the phrase "I Can Do It" to saying "I Will Do It". Think Positive !

You can get encouagement, you can get advice, you can see what others are doing and have done to make it happen, just by being on this site. Everyone here is on you side. Don't worry about what anyone has to say. Fear comes from with in. The words you choose to hear has no power over you, yet the way you choose to hear them will change your life forever. It's great that you tell others your plan but from now on instead of telling people what you are about to do, GET STARTED and tell them what you are doing and the goals you have attatched to those actions. I find it hard to find people to put me down now days because my positive approach to life over powers their negative one. This comes from accomplishments and confidence. You are doing the right thing by networking with positive people like the folks here on DG but being driven by GOal oriented people are the best. If you can't find some to newtwork with become one yourself and they will find you. I'm sure if you show the nay sayers that you are a man of action regardless if you may take a fall or not, they will have no choice but to respect you as a person who takes action. I believe i read on this site one day, someone said, "People didin't start taking me serious as an investor until i did."
I understand you also may be in a place where you don't want to be as well but you must look at the good side. You are living with a loved one, regardless if it's moms or not you do not hav ethe full weight of a house hold on you. Map out your days and money and be sure the you acknowledge the benefits of every situation you may face. I hope this helps a lil.
