After checking out the store I told one of my neighbor I was surprised at the prices of fresh vegetables at the 99 Cent Store. Red and Yellow peppers were at the time $4 each at Ralphs Grocery and 3 for 99 cents at the 99 Cent Store, Portabella Mushrooms the same size as at Ralphs were 2 for 99 cents. This person then said she would never shop there because they don’t know where the produce comes from. Next time I checked and I found all of the 99 Cent store produce came from California and a very large percentage of the produce in Ralphs came from Mexico and South America. The same was true of other products. What’s going on. Are we willing to pay more just so we don’t have to buy Made in the USA.

ONE AT A TIME

yesterday I was in

Wal Mart looking for a wastebasket. I found some made in

China for $6.99. I didn't want to pay that much so I asked the

lady if they had any others. She took me to another department

and they had some at 2.50 made in USA. They are just as good.

Same as a kitchen rug I needed. I had to look, but I found some

made in the USA and they were 3.00 cheaper. We are being

brain washed that everything that comes from China and Mexico

is cheaper. Not so. That is also why I don't buy cards at Hallmark

anymore. They are made in China and are expensive. I buy

them at Dollar Tree....50 cents each and made in USA.

One Light Bulb at a Time

A physics teacher in high school, once told the students that while one grasshopper on the railroad tracks wouldn't slow a train very much, a billion of them would. With that thought in mind, read the following, obviously written by a good American . . ..

Good idea . . .. one light bulb at a time . .. ..

Check this out. I can verify this because I was in Lowe’s the other day and just for the heck of it I was looking at the hose attachments... They were all made in China ..

The next day I was in Ace Hardware and just for the heck of it I checked the hose attachments there. They were made in USA. Start looking . . ....

In our current economic situation, every little thing we buy or do affects someone else - even their job. So, after reading this email, I think this lady is on the right track.. Let's get behind her!

My grandson likes Hershey's candy. I noticed, though, that it is marked made in Mexico now. I do not buy it any more.

My favorite toothpaste Colgate is made in Mexico... now I have switched to Crest. You have to read the labels on everything....

This past weekend I was at Kroger . . . I needed 60W light bulbs and Bounce dryer sheets.

I was in the light bulb aisle, and right next to the GE brand I normally buy was an off-brand labeled, "Everyday Value." I picked up both types of bulbs and compared the stats ? they were the same except for the price . . ..
The GE bulbs were more money than the Everyday Value brand but the thing that surprised me the most was the fact that GE was made in MEXICO and the Everyday Value brand was made in - get ready for this - the USA in a company in Cleveland , Ohio.

So throw out the myth that you cannot find products you use every day that are made right here...

So on to another aisle - Bounce Dryer Sheets... yep, you guessed it, Bounce cost more money and is made in Canada... The Everyday Value brand was less money and MADE IN THE USA! I did laundry yesterday and the dryer sheets performed just like the Bounce Free I have been using for years and at almost half the price!

My challenge to you is to start reading the labels when you shop for everyday things and see what you can find that is made in the USA - the job you save may be your own or your neighbors!

If you accept the challenge, pass this on to others in your address book so we can all start buying American, one light bulb at a time! Stop buying from overseas companies!

(We should have awakened a decade ago....)

Let's get with the program and help our fellow Americans keep their jobs and create more jobs here in the USA ..

I passed this on .. .. . will you???

read the labels

Thanks for the information.
My new shopping criteria

Jim

Think of the effect on our economy if all the people that scream about jobs going overseas and high unemployment would Buy American made cars! They squeel about jobs while they drive their KIA, Toyota, Nissan, BMW, Honda, Etc to work!

Then they cry about the spotted owl while our food costs skyrocket due to our dependency on foreign oil. Think of all the jobs that would be created and money that would be saved if we would DRILL!! Talk about helping America!

WE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE

We need to take our country back and not just from the global economy but from our own government. There are way to many rules and restrictions. Just try to borrow money for instance. Corporations and banks have money but they won't turn loose of it and make it harder to get with their criteria and restrictions. Then if they do loan it, they charge high interest so that they are always making money.

The President wants to give $5,000.00 per employee hired to the company's. What that is doing is causing companies to find reasons to let an employee go and or changing the job in some way so as to create a new position and hire another person to get the $5,000.00. They could keep the original employee and upgrade their training or status so that then it would not raise unemployment figures, but no - they want the $5,000.00.

We can make things here in the United States of America with less cost and create our own jobs if we get all the restrictions and un-necessary laws out of the way. Just trying adding something to a house and you have to have all kinds of permits and licenses.

There was a time in this country where everyone would come together for a barn raising or home building and all the women would bring the food and drink and work right along side all the men. A whole lot of bartering went on and people would trade skills. People really did help people and had strong values. Kids learned the meaning of the word no and had to do their chores. Manners and responsibilities were taught.

Sorry, I got carried away and it really upsets me to see so much taken away from us. We have to rise up and make changes to do away with status quo.

I always read the labels and only buy MADE IN AMERICA

Especially when it comes to food. I want food grown in our own soil. I mostly shop the produce isle and see where it comes from. With meat I want grass fed beef or organic and still have to be careful there. We only need a little bit of meat and not the one pounder steaks and burgers. Too many additives and a lot of junk is added in and processed foods have ingredients that you can not even pronounce or understand what it is. It all adds to the waistline and causes poor health. Also when reading labels pay close attention to grams of SUGAR. It is the worst and high sugar content in everything. Buy sardines for your omegas and Milton's bread low in fat high in fiber and no high fructose sugar. Take care my friends - I am only trying to look out for you. Drink lots of pure water to stay hydrated and cleanse your systems. Buy a lemon and squeeze some of the juice into your water for vitamin c. When your brain is properly hydrated you will be able to think better and clearer and aid yourself in REI.
