You Can't Sell Beer Sitting at Your Desk

Hey everyone! This is Jeri with the Tom & Jeri Team. I don't post a lot unless there is something I find myself being very passionate about.

Have you ever felt like you were a mouse in the wheel where you just keep going in circles and circles? Maybe you feel like you are spinning your wheels but not getting anywhere. Maybe you are like I was today when you feel like you have so many things to do that you become paralyzed.

As a successful business owner, real estate investor, momma to my 3 year old, wife, student, philanthrapist (list goes on and on)....I get easily distracted at what makes money and what I am supposed to be doing.

My advice: Do exactly what I did today....pick up the phone and call a friend. I don't care if it is another investor, Dean's hotline, your spouse...anyone that will put some positive juice back in your tank. I was about to croak around lunch today so I called an attorney friend. She did a lot of research on women versus men when it comes to sales. She said that first of all, women are like computers. Sometimes, we have so many windows open and flashing lights that our computers simply freeze. She said that men just have two windows: work and home. (She is not a feminist.) I'm sure some men can somewhat relate to the other side, but not many. Her advice was that you have to just minimize the windows and attach them one at a time.

What does this have to do with selling beer? -real estate? -investments? Show your desktop (right click on the task bar and click "show the desktop"). Get out of your chair and get out side. Go see some folks. When I talk to people, I am networking, asking for business, etc. Even if it is for 30 minutes, I will go back to my office and start knocking stuff out of the park because I will be so focused.

You have two options when you feel like you are a little mouse (besides my nickname being Jeri-Mouse): 1) keep going in circles and not go anywhere, or 2) go sell some beer! Get out of the office and see some people face-to-face. You can close your real estate deals at a MUCH higher rate face-to-face than you can over the phone. Stop doing the things that do not make you money and refocus on the things that do!

Don't get caught up in all of the distractions and minor details of your real estate business. Get face-to-face with folks. The more people you talk to and the more "No's" you get, the closer you will be to a "Yes." Also, people are more likely to say "Yes" if asked than not!
