Yeah someone in B'ham

teetersmom2's picture

John,
I live in Inverness off Hwy 119 so we are not far from each other. I have made a friend on this DG website who lives in Foley but she has been coming to B'ham to look at deals. Sounds like you have been through the ringer but are willing to try again. I'm impressed that you bought SFL. I could not afford it but I did order the EDGE 2010 videos and am waiting for them to arrive. Maybe between you, me and my friend from Foley we could get together and watch them. No pressure just glad to see that someone on here lives in my backyard. Hope to hear from you and welcome to the DG website. Be sure to sign up for the conference call on Tue. 14th. They're actually very interesting and FREE!

Someone in B'ham

Hi Dawn,

Good to hear from you and that there IS someone else on this site from the area!!

Yeh, you might say I've been through the ringer (a couple of times), but I'm stubborn, persistent and don't give up easily. I only know that one day I will succeed, but ONLY if I keep trying!

I really couldn't afford SFL either, but felt strongly that it has all the tools needed in ONE place. I learned from my last RE experience that everything is out there and available (internet, etc.). You just have to go a thousand places and spend countless hours to find it. That's what sold me. I just pray that I have the money for the remaining installments. My plan is to automate myself first (such as Carol Stinson) and then dig-in!

I have the EDGE DVD's and have watched about 3/4 of them. If you don't get yours soon, I'd be more than happy to loan them to you. I'm not sure I'd have time to watch them all with you and your friend from Foley. I work full time and am only off on Thursdays and Sundays.

You two should join me at the next REIC meeting. It's on the 27th in Homewood at the Senior Center. They meet the fourth Monday every month. It's $20 for visitors. I have just joined ($72/year). It'll be a great opportunity for networking. The president, Jack Eyer is really a great guy!

By the way, I did join the conference call. I take every opportunity I can to learn and stay motivated.

Anyway, guess I'll go for now. You can PM me if you'd like. We could exchange numbers, emails, etc.

Talk to you soon...

Hey!

Thanks, John! That Cash Buyers forum has a load of info...breathing deep trying not to get more information overloaded! We gotta keep on target, too, but finding and passing along these tips we find to each other is FANTASTIC!

Lay off the coffee (re: the heavy-handedness)! Just kidding. Smiling

Doing alright. Actually started a journal to track progress. It may help keep me even more answerable to myself and to people who visit.

Finished reading Be A Real Estate Millionaire and am trying to lay out my next action steps!

I still feel like a fish out of water, too. Stated differently, I feel like I'm trying to become the fish so that I can get in the water!

It's touch and it will take time and I know I'm only two months in, but I was not even this enthused the last time I tried, so I know I have a good thing going here! Keep the faith (and I don't say that about anything, so that's saying something!)

Kevin

Thanks John. I live in the Lake Charles/Sulphur area. We were not hit very hard with the down market. But, still enough foreclosures and other good deals around. I'm new to the site and I see that you are an involved participant in the DG family. I plan to do the same so I wanted to get to know the family members here. I see that you got involved in 2008 and now you're going strong. I'm starting to build my buyers list right now. Do you have any ideas on how to go about it without having a car? I'm going to get one pretty soon but, how did you do it brother?

Hey John
