Does anyone know?

Does anyone know?

What would be the price to install hardwood flooring? Labor and material?

Thanks.

Yuri,

It depends on the type of hardwood flooring and how much labor would be involved. They sell several different brands, types and kinds of wood. You should first determine if you have a good floor surface or if you need a sub-floor in before your final wood floor. If you have a local Home Depot or Lowe's Home Center in your area they can show you various types of flooring and give you an idea on materials and labor. The Home Depot sub-contracts out these types of services. Just measure your floor area because they will want to know how many square feet of flooring you have (length by width). I hope this helps. Good luck. Smiling - Joe

Flooring

The labor is never less than the material is a good rule of thumb. It depends on if you want a prefinished floor or a floor that is un-finished. Usually pre-finished floors can run you anywhere from 3 dollars and up. Final cost depends on your subfloor condition. If you have a concrete surface, you may need to level out un-even spots. A vapor barrier must be put down first prior to using the glue. This will help control moisture. It's like putting a sheet of rubber coating on the floor. It's very pricey. About 175.00 for a 5 gallon bucket. Which will cover a 9x12 area. If the surface is wood you have to make sure it is secure, no loose wood pieces. This surface is requires a special floor nailer gun. There is a manual one and a electric one. There is also a type of hardwood floor called engineered hardwood flooring. It is basically a real wood floor that is free floating like the snap flooring but very expensive. No Nails or glue. It's pretty hard to beat Home Depot or Lowes prices when it comes to standard material. It's the labor that is high because they subcontract their work out to contractor's. So they charge a higher rate to make a profit. I find that when you compare a snap floring to real wood flooring, it's not that much of a price difference. Some snap flooring can run higher. When it scratches you can't sand it down. Bamboo flooring is considered a green product. When selling a home, a real wood floor appeals to more.Plus it gives more value to the home. One of the place I shop at for best prices and selection is Lumber Liquidator's. Much success........Lubertha

I love the pergo. Its easy

I love the pergo. Its easy to install. But like Lubertha said the cost of labor is around the cost of the material, so times the material by 2 and you can have your round about figure. Rule of thumb, get 3 estimates before you hire someone.

Flooring! Thats Funny!

I Just got done laying the flooring in my personal house. Like last night, I did it ! And I"M Not good with that kid of stuff. You ,YURI77, Can lay the flooring yourself! All you have to do is buy the glue ,rubber mallot and the flooring. Saving high labor cost! I know what your thinking " I can't do that!" I promise you you can!Its easy!I thought the same thing. Now my wife wants me to try my hand at tile. So here I go again!

darrellf334

I know I can. I laid down the laminate flooring but never the parquet one.

Yuri

P.S. Tiling is easy. I learned it within 2 hours. If you need pointers, just ask.

Measure twice cut once

Make sure you measure the room (SQFT) correctly. Alot 10% surplus for your supplies for any warp broads, weird shape rooms or miscuts. Lumber liquidates has many good sales throughout the year on their hardwood floors and abundance of supply & choice compare to home box stores e.g. HD and Lowe's in my opinion anyways.

hardwood flooring

Hardwood flooring is sold by the square foot can start as low at 4.50 and go all the way up to 15.00 a square foot Labor can be 2.50 square foot to 4.00 square foot if they have to stain the floor. Go to a store pick it out and get price quote.

Not Experienced

Well it's obvious that the DG family is one of many talents, sorry I did a bit of tiling, went pretty okay, never did the wood floors though. I am a novice in that arena. Best of luck with your home improvements Yuri.

Darrell

Well Darrell, you see what you get for laying some floors, you will now be promoted to tiling, and finally building your own home LOL. Great job doing your own renovations. I know it not only makes you proud, but also your wife. All the best.

Must be fate

Must be the season, we just put hardwood floors over old hardwood floors after trying to save them 15X16 237.60 Lumber Liquidators and tile in our kitchen 309.60 all by ourselves one weekend and DIY network for guidance. We had level floors through and we floated the hardwood over the existing hardwood. Contractors quoted us 4.58 a square foot to lay the hardwood and do the tile around 2051.00 plus mileage and travel time. But we did it ourselves and we are still married and everything!!!!! Ha

Way to go

You probably did a fabulous job than what any hired crew would have done. Smiling Where you're floors already prefinished or did you stain them yourself?
