Check this out and see how much you raised for the tornado victims of Joplin.

You are going to impact the people of that city in an amazing way. Watch and see - oh and post any suggestions you might have for Dean as he will be cutting the check this week.

New bill in Texas

hecpri007's picture

Dear Dean,

I hope you see this. They want to kill the assignment deals in Texas.

Governor Perry (Texas governor) has just received this bill. Texas HB (House Bill) 8. It is already on his desk as the local congress has passed it May 25 2011.

Hope you can give me ideas. This has to be stopped. They already have killed lease options.

I wonder why some people do not like others to make money and get back on track.

The Texas Property Code is being amended to make selected private transfer fees null and void,
more specifically:

Sec. 5.201(4) “Private transfer fee
determining the amount, that is payable on the transfer of an interest in real property or payable for a right to make or accept a transfer.

Sec. 5.201(Cool A “Transfer” means the sale, gift, conveyance, inheritance, assignment, or other
transfer of an ownership interest in real property.

Sec. 5.201(5) "Private transfer fee obligation" means an obligation to pay a private transfer fee
created under: (A) a declaration or other covenant recorded in the real property records in the county in which the property subject to the private transfer fee obligation is located;
contractual agreement or promise; or

Sec. 5.202 CERTAIN PRIVATE TRANSFER FEE OBLIGATIONS VOID. (a)
provided by this subchapter, a private transfer fee obligation created on or after the effective date of this subchapter is not binding or enforceable against a purchaser of an interest in real property and is void.

Who should gete the funds?

I don't know who the other players are, but the Red Cross is almost always there and it seems that I have heard the Red Cross has been among the lowest in operating cost for an organization, that gives us the biggest bang for our (your) buck.
Thank you for your generousity, not only in this but your entire DG organization.

Hi Dean,

I never get tired of watching your blogs. I am happy that the those in need in Joplin, MO will be receiving some badly needed help. It makes me stop and think about how families have lost so much and even though I am not in a very good place right now I am still blessed with what I do have. I am still considered unemployed because I have no income, even though I am working so hard to get my business going. But I have a roof over my head and food on the table, so for that I give thanks.

Thanks again Dean,
Lisa Eye-wink

Blog #133 - Helping the people of Joplin

Hi Dean,

See what happens when we all put our heads together? Well, the DG family did come through. Though I'm not an official member, I do feel a part of the DG family. That's what life is all about. I hope I'm not too late in mentioning where I think the money should go. I know that the Salvation Army has been around for a long time, and they do help lots of people through their food banks and with used clothing. I would give more than half to the Salvation Army. I do not know anything about the Convoy of Hope. They could be a very good organization. I just do not know about them, so I cannot make a comment. I would, however, cut two cheques and give both the Salvation Army and the Convoy of Hope and hope and pray that the bulk of the money will reach the people of Joplin who have suffered loss of life and who have lost hope and who are hurting in more ways than one.
Talk to you soon,
Annis

Now that's what...

it is all about. You are right Dean I am going through an extremely tough time NOW. We all have that hump we have to overcome. We just have to do just that. For you to give where it is needed is what's important not for one specific need but WHERE it is needed is great. Thanks for all the support, encouraging words, and love you give to your DG family. YOU ROCK!

I can do all things through Christ whom strenghtens me.

Where to send the money

Lutheran World Relief has been helping people around the world for decades, and I'm sure can be researched on the Internet. (The last time I checked, the US is part of the World!)
