Dean Graziosi Weekly Video Blog #37 - What's Your Idea?

What Is Your Crazy or Sane Suggestion?

In this week's video blog, Dean addresses his "driving while videotaping" experience, and seeks your suggestions for other options.

Also, last week we started asking you to post questions for Dean and in this video he answers some of the questions students posted last week.

So, watch the video and give us your feedback, comments and questions. As always, we want to know what we can do to make things better for you.

I think you should find 3- 4

I think you should find 3- 4 average Joe people and have them followed from finding to closing on a property and this will grab attention. Do it kind of like the publisher clearing house. They would not know you are coming and they still can do this with your help.

eye catchers

First of all, thank you for the work you do to help us help ourselves. I have been struggling with my own feelings of limitation and worry that if I tried and failed, it would mean I failed as a person, but if I never tried, I could never say I failed. Needless to say, that is the kind of thinking that keeps you in the rat race, stuck between "just keeping afloat" and "swimming with the pack". I am finished with that way of thinking. I have important things to accomplish and I am finally ready to begin to take the necessary steps to do so. Thank you...

As for some eye catching visuals, I can say this: while I agree that everyone's souggestions are wonderful and helpful, I am a bit concerned that they may be missing the mark. You only have a split second to grab the viewer. We all stay tuned because we recognize you and the power of what you are saying, but not everyone is with us yet. So here are some admittedly cheeky ideas:

1) Put your head on someone else's body, doing something silly, like breakdancing, but have the audio be you offering the same high quality messages you normally do. I know I would immediately stop on that channel.

2) In a similar vein, do some limbo or something, and talk about getting deals for lower and lower offers.

3) Make a quick cartoon or claymation video. Maybe while you are talking in live action, a cartoon Dean pops out onto your shoulder and makes jokes, reminding you of al the info you're not telling.

4) In line with the other "reality show" suggestions, you could play several different roles in one short episode, edited together. There could be younger days Dean, still rebellious and leaving his dirty clothes everywhere, and mature Dean, talking about keeping the house clean. You could even get sillier, wearing costumes and such, but keeping true to the message.

I think the goal is to balance showmanship with substance. I know my ideas may seem to undermine the truth and power of your words and message, but that is not my intention. I also don't want you to come across as another "pitch man" looking for a quick buck. But I think so many people glaze over when they are channel surfing that they do not even notice the substance until the spectacle grabs them. I hope my suggestions manage to walk that fine line without offending the sense of good taste that so many of the other suggestions are built on. Thank you...

My suggestion...

Greywolf's picture

I like the way you deliver your message of hope. My only suggestion is that you show more success stories from other, not before used, locations arround the country to prove to the viewers in TV land that your system really works! Thanks again.

Dare to think outside the box

Ther a lot of great ideas this might be one that could get the buzzz going for you take 3 4 or even 5 pepole and film you walking them through some of your no money down strategys. Let pepole know that is what you plan to do on your infamershal and how thinking outside the box can change those salect pepoles lives.

try this

JayBob's picture

Hi Dean,

you might try this, send some mentors out! on road trips- to new students and walk them through at least one deal. start to finish deal! and video the whole thing! show the check-profit! they made.show different types of deals.Have the mentors show them how to then setup for the next deal.then let the student do it by him/her self. You can have a random draw for who is picked-newbie's.Do this 2-3 times a month.

I just wanted to say to you Dean, You are the Man.

I am one of your Biggest Fan's

JayBob Good investing to everyone!

Hi Dean, It's Mary & Dean

Hi Dean,

It's Mary & Dean here in Colorado. There are some really great ideas here. My idea is having one or 2 lucky new investors and you walk through buying property from start to finish. Maybe each one could do a different property like Hud, pre-foreclosure, short sale, etc.

Thanks for your weekly blog. We love it!

My number one thing i think about most is the what if factor. Meaning what if real estate is not good in my area. I think you should get a big map of the United States and just throw darts at the board and wherever it lands go into that area and show the pros and cons of real estate in that area. I think that will give the viewers the impression that real estate can work in any state including there own. i think its a win win for current investors and new investors because it might show current investors ways to go about finding properties in certain areas and show the new viewers that it could work in there own. I already went with your course and never seen something in my area?(success stories or you commenting about my area) but if i was to see something in my area i wouldnt think twice about investing in the dean program...just a thought

My Idea

Here's my idea:

Just a simple banner at the top or bottom of the screen that constantly reads:
STOP CHANGING THE CHANNEL IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE!

Or something similar like Watch this if you want to change your life, etc.

I've put in one formal offer so far and one informal one and I love everything about the program. I'm currently paycheck to pay check with our first baby on the way and have plenty of motivation... I just wish I had enough for a decent earnest money deposit.

Ideas to Stop People on your Informercial

As has already been said several times, the informercials are great just as they are. However, I can see how you need something to grab peoples attention immediately while they are surfing through channels.

I am pretty simple minded so how about a flashing sign of some kind with a message similar to something like "STOP-PUT DOWN THAT REMOTE-YOU FOUND WHERE YOU WANT TO BE"

Just one of many good ideas.

My Idea To Stop Surfing

Hi, Dean!
I'm guessing my idea would be quite costly, if it could be done, I'm not sure how it could be done, but I've seen it done before. Anyway, if you could do a commercial on other networks to draw people to watch your infomercial. Something like announcing the date and time and channel you have a way of helping people to get out of debt and making their dreams come true. Or have you jog acrossed the bottom of the screen with a caption following you giving the information when and where to watch your show. Maybe even do a radio broadcast commercial to tune in on T.V. to learn how...
If that isn't appealing to you, here's a second idea. On your website post the contest to be on your reality show. Ask people to send you videos of themselves explaining to you why they should be chosen to be on your show. Explain your rules and what you would be looking for in their video. You being the host of coarse. Air it weekly. Start the show with showing several of the videos and you choosing say ten people to start out with. Each episode you give them different tasks to do to go along with your training. That will show your audience how your training works. Then each episode you have to eliminate someone that just didn't perform and give them an explanation of what they might've done incorrectly, or give it a twist, that they did so well they got eliminated because you felt they would do very well and they really didn't need your guidance or further training. Keep it suspenceful and switch the elimination both ways. Right up to the actual sale of a home and the remaining person makes a bunch of money on their sale. I would be proud if one of my ideas were used. I don't even want credit for the ideas. I'd rather not say why on this post. I just want to end this saying Thank You so much, and GOD BLESS YOU!, Dean.

Deans idea to keep people watching

My idea is that Dean could do a simple deal from start to finish, in a regular small town, in a regular neighborhood. All of us who begin or who are trying to begin are afraid, and most deals are very scary so starting with a very simple deal in a very simple small town would make even those who don't think this can be done wiil see it can

Idea

Stegalin,

Looks like you and I think alike and it also looks like it was pretty much at the same time. I agree that something like a banner or flashing box with something like either of us said might do the trick.

Channel Surfing

If you were to have a contest of some sort , that the winner would receive hands on training , on finding a great deal all the way to closing of the deal. Dean i live in Oklahoma, Claremore, the housing market is pretty strong in this area. Your lucky if you find a property that will discount 30%. And the Reo's, the Banks aren't really in a panic to move the homes they have on their books. But I'm still plugging away. in search of that first deal I've made offers but no takers as of yet. The only properties that are deeply discounted is in the really bad area, they have shootings almost every night, gangs theift , drugs you name it it's their.

Blog

Thanks for the Blog, Dean.

Suggestion

There's a lot of great suggestions here, but the one that most seem to suggest is you doing an actual deal, taking us along by filming it. Someone even suggested something like you parachuting to the spot...hitting the ground running on a deal. Being a music lover, I would have it choreographed to music.....first one I thought of was one of Meatloaf's...."Stop Right There....before we go any further"...then switching to you parachuting to the deal Smiling Would catch my attention!

I'm new to all this -- just happened to catch you on t.v. last weekend and, like many, would sure love to make something work to get my life on a better track...I just need to set my mind to it....not easy after working all day, but sure looks like it would be something well worth the effort.

Thanks for all your info....please keep up the great work!

Idea

What about cooking up a deal?
you could be in the kitchen of a house that you are doing a deal on and acting like a chef - telling us about the ingedients it takes to make the deal work. I know it's kinda crazy - but hey, you asked.
thanks,
Kent

"Real Estate Revealed"

CAM's picture

Dean, great video blog this week hope everything is going well for you.
My suggestion was to make a show similar to those "Magic tricks revealed" shows but in this case it's done with different aspects of making deals, property management, sub-dividing land and all the rest. Each episode reveals excellent money making tactics that the "other guys" don't want you to know and with a catchy intro I'm sure it will grab people's attention once they see REAL WORLD knowledge being revealed. Smiling

These types of shows tend to be very popular because they pull back the curtin to expose the big bad wizard of Oz for who he really is and people take comfort when they see something isn't as bad as it's made out to be.

Chris-

I'VE GOT IT!

Hi Dean,
My name is Donovan and I've been watching from the sidelines and researching.I've read both of your books and I'm trying to get myself ready to go.You have a store of great knowledge and you seem to really want to help people. That's something rare in this world.I truly admire you sir.
I remember what first caught my attention about you.You said to think outside the box.Well I think I have an idea for you.
You like to reach out to people,so why don't you!You could go to a mall, a wallmart or some place similar and pick someone at random and tell them that you could make them some money in real estate right now (so to speak). You could take them and show them how to get out there and make a deal and get paid. You would really make believers out of people then.Maybe you could pick a young couple that has just gotten married or something like that.
Like I said before "you seem to really want to help people" and I think this would speak volumes.
I would also like to take the time to say that I admire everyone who has gone out there and gotten their feet wet.As well as all of you that are just getting started. You are all truly intrepid souls.I wish you all success.Thank you.

section 8

r.e.titan's picture

i had a friend who invested in several homes and then went section 8. one of the biggest problem he had was that they did not take care of the property and when he went to try and evict them he could not because of the governments involvement. also causing his insurance to increase do to all of the repairs. this was in California and as you know most of these payments barely cover the mortgage, taxes and insurance so when the taxes, insurance and mortgage payments went up higher he could not raise the rent which caused him to fall behind on his payments. unfortunately he lost all of his homes.

What's Your Idea

Hi Dean, my Sane Suggestion is that at the moment don't change anything. In my opinion you

have captured the essence of you, your inner self, your emotions, your sincerity, and your

desire to teach and help others get to a place of comfort and success in their lives and have

conveyed that to them. perhaps at another moment in time when drastic changes have taken

place it may be time to retool you strategies and you methods of delivery to address those

changes but, I don't think that time is upon us now.

Thanks so much for everything,
Lee Bradley

Hey Dean,Wanted you to know

Hey Dean,

Wanted you to know that I completly agree with MyDestiny when she shared that what drew her to you and your program was the compassion and sencerity which was so appealing to her and many others including myself. I have had the books for almost a month now and must say that I am pleased with all the information that you are sharing. I must have watched your ad on TV several times before deciding to purchase. As you have spoken about there are many people/companies trying to take advantage of good hard working people that are desparately wanting and needing to become financially stable, you just don't know who to trust anymore. Something just felt right and my inner voice told me to go for it order the books Jeff. Since I have started my partner and I have definitely decided that the REO's is the best option for purchasing properties for us. Actually we have already found a property that we are interested in and will be sitting down with different lenders to see what the best options for financing will be. We will most likely get an appraisal on property to assist us in getting a true market value, have an inspection, plus bring in different contractors to see what the actual cost for repairs will be before making an offer. The owner of the property through out a price of 60,000 but considering there situation, and condition of property I feel sure that we can purchase this property for 40% below that bringing purchase price to 36,000 atleast that's what we are shooting for creating 24,000 in equity, borrowing against that equity for repairs, I'm thinking around 10,000 still leaving us with positive equity, and finally renting out for positive monthly cash flow and selling for a greater profit when market turns. I'm really excited and hope and pray for good things to happen for us. In closing I wanted to express how helpful that INDIANA JOE has been since I have become a member on this site. He has responded to all my post with such knowledge and professionalism, so a big shout out to you Joe Thank's man.

Maybe if possible you and your team can focus more on the no money down precedure, there are so many of us that qualify for a particular loan but cannot afford the 10%-20% down, we need away around this!

My Crazy Idea - Pay People to Rent My Home!

I have been looking at all the homes going for $100 to $500 in Detroit, and thought to myself, I could live there! I don't have to worry about a job being nearby because I work from home (other than real estate, I sell on eBay). I then thought I could get group of people together, teach them how to work from home on eBay or the internet, put them in a home, and when they begin to make a profit on eBay, they can start paying me rent. There rent could be REALLY cheap and increase slowly over time as they do better with their eBay business. I would recruit some people from eBay to come out and host a few PowerSeller classes and provide some extra support for these people and as a way to promote the goodwill of eBay. If we could get people to move into the abandoned homes in Detroit, teach them to work from home, then slowly we could raise the economy in Detroit until the auto industry there is back on it's feet.

Thanks for listening,
Craig Johnson Smiling

Infomercial

Dean,
I think something that captures attention (when flipping through channels for example) is when people see something on the screen that they can relate to, something personal to them.

Ordinarily it would take a lot of time and money to do this but seeing as you have already decided to travel around the county to visit successful students, maybe you can film yourself in front of various famous landmarks, or in front of the various airports as you arrive/leave. You would not even have to speak about that town or state particularly, the goal though is to stop someone from flipping to the next channel before they get a chance to listen to your message first.

I would stop and listen to someone standing in a street of my hometown in a heartbeat!

Angela

BTW, I love the 'map' dartboard suggestion.

you r awesome!! you have changed so many lives already.what a feeling you must get when you wake every day to read and see peoples lives changing.one of the things we had to do before agreeing to join the academy was to STOP watching the news because it is SO NEGATIVE!! i think you should create a NEWS program that is broadcast one or more times a week that is nothing but POSITIVE.it could show YOUR students giving back to the community,GIVING TO CHARITY,teaching other students, helping out their community, helping less fortunate, gather a dg team in each state to work on a habitat house the list is endless that could be on your news show. this would spread the positive bug on the NEWS EVERY SHOW which i am sure would snowball because it would be very ADDICTING to watch just like your site is.i know i as well as MANY others cant wait to get up in the morning to turn on the dg site and at lunch and at night and even sometimes when sleeping get up in the middle of the night to turn on the positive bug!!! i think in closing a POSITIVE NEWS channel not i negative subject would be a unique news channel that you could provide would be a great idea.what do u think?

simple suggestion

janet duty's picture

There were so many in front of me they took all the good suggestions. However, two really impressed me. The first was Lubertha aka/My Destiny. Her story is my story. You would think she interviewed me. The truth is what cought my attition. I have been lied to all my life. So when you hear the truth it jumps out and grabs you. My suggestions are the same as hers. Only, if you had the people on there that was loosing their home for whatever reason, to tell their story too. Maybe that would let people know that there is a way out. You don't have to ruin your credit compeletly. The other was Sandra, she didn't give her last name. Good Luck on your new adventure. Janet Duty
