Dean Graziosi Weekly Wisdom #196 - Olympic Style Success

Few things are as thrilling as seeing an Olympian grab the Gold. It's a culmination of countless hours of training and preparation. It is the result of years of disciplined commitment. We know that on the surface, but have you ever thought about what athletes like LeBron James, swimmer Michael Phelps, soccer goalkeeper Hope Solo and gymnasts, Jordyn Wieber and Aly Raismanichael were doing in 8th grade?

What did they sacrifice? The end result is obvious, but the path to get there...not so much. This week Dean draws a powerful comparison to getting Olympic Gold and your ability to achieve real estate gold. You're gonna love this one.

Olympic Style

ttjudge's picture

I look at it not as just Olympic Style, but winning style... I see a lost as a building block to success. If you win all the time you never learn what you did to succeed. If you've loss some you learn what doesn't work. No great inventor ever succeed without encountering a loss or misstake. Athletes that were ridicured early in life, work on the skills to make themself great. Look at Michael Jordan in high school, he was cut from the team in his early years.

My gold is to learn as much about this business as I can. I would prefer to learn from other people misstakes, but that doesn't always happen. Your Blogs help keep us motivated and the DG Website, help us learn what works and doesn't work from other investors.

Love it all...

Ty

thanks

as usual these are so good i would not miss one. I cant wait to read the new book.

Olympic Style Success Indeed!

Dean,

There must be SO many of us here that can relate or resonate with this weekly msg! I know that I'm one, for sure!

I agree; everyone thought Phelps was 'washed-up', but he buckled down and went out in a "blaze of glory"!! One can only imagine how he must be feeling inside. To go out on top...man, what an accomplishment!!!

I found Gabby Douglas's (Gold Medal All Around Gymnast)story similarly inspiring. Spending all that time away from her home and family and wanting to throw the towel in things went sour. After prodding/coaxing from her sister, she re-energized herself/efforts and began training even harder! During the interview w/reporter after winning her individual Gold Medal; she was asked about the time when she wanted to give it all up, and how she persevered. She said "When things get tough; you have to try/train harder, push through the pain/mistakes, stay focused and keep your goals in sight. That's how champions are made"! Disclaimer: Quote is not verbatim. LOL! Such maturity; and she's ONLY 16 yrs old!!! This was such a strong message and REALLY hit home for me!

Me; I've been SO CLOSE, SO MANY TIMES, but haven't quite made it to the closing table! For example: Had to pull-out of last accepted offer due to serious structural issues found. Due diligence does pay off. However, I know without ANY doubt that closing is just around the corner. It's all up to me and I've come too far to turn back now! Like my neighbor Jen says......

Go hard, Die Empty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love it!
Tks Dean and God Bless,
-John

What I noticed about the olympics

Davemchs's picture

We are in probably the worst economic time of my life right now and America won more medals than any other country, which is getting harder to do each olympics because information is so readily available to most of the world, and we really seemed to win a lot of team events. It seems like America really comes together when we need it the most. That's why I feel so blessed to be born in this great country. When are backs are against the wall thats when everyone is at there best. Don't be afraid to go out and get in over your head, its amazing what you can accomplish. As always Dean thanks for another great weekly wisdom!

New Book

Dean,

Great wisdom, as always. I can't wait to read your new book to see exactly what strategies you're using in the different areas of the country. Still working on getting that first deal to come together, never gonna give up. I
know in my heart I can and will do this.

Have a great and blessed week.

Big Book

Great Job Olympians!, Go USA!!

Hey Dean, I too watched the Summer Olympics this year. Your right what dedication, focus and sacrifice it takes to achieve those heights of accomplishment. So proud of them all!

Dean, you are our REI Gold Metal winner! You have accomplished great heights in the REI field personally but you also endeavor to teach us that same dedication, focus and achievment. For that I am truly grateful!

BECOMING A CHAMPION!

Hey, hey... I want the book!

Anything Dean does is top notch. I'm a beginning investor (and I will be at the Edge Summit in August; even though I've not yet done any deals. I hope to meet Greg Murphy there because his style is what I'm currently trying to emulate) and being around enough successful people, I know that Dean and anyone I've met as his associates are the real deal.

I look forward to seeing this book.

Make it a great day all, and again-
Thanks Dean!

Dean,I want that BIG BOOK

Great things

jcwp's picture

Hi Dean,
Even great athletes like Michael Phelps cant win them all. As in Real estate, if we lose on a deal we put the negative thoughts out of mind and pump ourselves up to get the next one.
We are Winners.
Success to all!

Real estate.

Hi Dean
What would Real Estate be worth if the dollar was devalued? I was thinking about this with all the mess in europe and the mess were still in here in the states. Can you give me your input on this.

Cant Wait for that Book!!!

Trones21's picture

That book sounds like an amazing resource. How is it possible that every week you are so motivated? It motivates me, and somehow every week applies exactly to what I am actually going through.
All I can say is Thank You.

Hi my name is Amer, can any one help mme out with this.

Positive reinforcement

Seriously, don't let other people tell you that you can't make money in real estate. I'm about to make $12,000 on my first deal. My second bid is going out sometime this week and it has the potential for much much more that this first deal. I will only discuss real estate with those people that I know are supportive. For everyone else who I know will give me negative opinions, I simply don't discuss it. Positive reinforcement is so very helpful.

The Coach

skywatcher's picture

Your message was a really good one Dean. It does take a lot of work and dedication to accomplish something. But one thing you didn't mention was that behind each and every athelete that succeeds there was someone who encouraged, trained, pushed and insisted on them doing their best, teaching them all the tricks. That person for us is you. Your weekly wisdom is why I keep trying and is why I know I will succeed one day. You are our coach and mentor. Thank you

Practice, race, fail, try again, win

steinway024's picture

Yes! That's the cycle. No quitting or sulking after the "failure". If you have put in the time, you know to keep pushing to success. Nice analogy this week Dean.

One thing about the Olympics is that it takes allot of training to achieve success as well as dedication and sacrifice. We must NEVER stop training (learning and acquiring knowledge)!

Thanks Dean for providing everything we need to train and achieve!

GREAT MOTIVATION!
