Fist of all, thanks for sharing these valuable philosophies. I agree with you on all of them. Here are some extensions to what you shared:

• No such a thing as luck, the harder you work, the luckier you get

• If it is worth doing, it is worth doing it right

• It is unacceptable not to do the right thing once you know what the right thing is

What a great list Dean! Wouldn't it be great if all Parents instilled those values in their children!! We would live in a different world.
I would add:
1. Always give God the glory and use your success as a testimony to his great love for us.
2. It is better to give than to receive. ALWAYS give back.
3. Put others first.

Thanks Dean!

Great list, thank you.

philosophies

Here is one my own family lives by..very simply. As adults, they STILL carry this saying in their wallets!
If you think you are beaten, you are. If you think you dare not, you don't. If you'd like to win but think you can't, it's almost certain you won't. Life's battles don't always go to the stronger or faster man, But sooner or later, the man who wins, is the man who thinks he can!

It's an oldie but a goodie and one of my personal favorites,

The most important relationships are the ones that help us become a better person.

RESPECT

I tell my kids once a baby twice a child. Treat the elderly as if they where a child because that could be them one day and give them a chance to look at life at a different angle.

Hi Dean,

What a great list you always make us think about things in a deeper way.

My addition I always tell my kids, that a friend said to me when I was a young kid.

Learn one thing from each person you meet, whether its good or bad it will make you a better person. It may teach you what to do, or what not to do.

Addition to Dean's awesome list

Don't compare yourself to others. Be YOU.

Hi Dean,

No need to apologize for improving this website........you are always giving to your DG Family...Smiling....Here are a few that can be added to the list.....

1- If a person can learn to hate - They can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than the opposite " - Nelson Mandela - Former President of South Africa...

2-"Your own soul is nourished when you are kind, and it is destroyed when you are cruel."
- King Solomon

3-" You have not lived a perfect day, unless you have done something for someone who will never be able to repay you." - Ruth Smeltzer

4-"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you imagined." Henry David Thoreau

5-" Dream as if you will Live Forever....Live as if you will Die Tomorrow "

Thank You Dean......You are a good man....XO

List to live by

1. To eliminate unhappiness originating from comparing yourself to others who seem to be doing better, help someone less fortunate than yourself.

PERMISSION GRANTED!! :)!

statusmark's picture

Hello! I appreciate the opportunity to help.

One principle that my grandmother told me when I was little, that I still remember and live by, is:

"give yourself permission to enjoy the 'little positive things' in life; remember, once ENJOYED, they truly become the BIG things we strive for!"

I apply this to family conversations in expressing my appreciation of them, incremental business goals achieved, and the positive affirmations I tell myself upon waking and going to bed (these lists are great to reinforce our inner strength).

Yours Truly,

I love the list Dean

Hey Dean,

And yet another great weekly wisdom.

I'd like to add... only the SKY is the Limit.
We tend to limit ourselves, but really, there's no limit to where we can go up.

I also would like to ask for some help from any fellow DG'ers, as I found the Website IFTTT dot com
With that, you can go search Craigslist and put stuff in a Google Spreadsheet... I learned this from Carolina L. in the DG Student Secrets. My problem, is I don't know how to set up a recipe.
Can anyone help me?

Remember, the sky is the limit
