I must say, this site is great. After watching the interview and realizing how expensive going further was(as a unemployed single mother or 3 who's facing many devastating challenges, anything outside of my kids needs is expensive as i barely even meet their needs), I honestly lost hope and had fallen off in keeping up but this site brings new hope for continued interaction and support. Thank you for how you've chosen to share your gifts with others, you're doing a super job.

Bad v Good

Hi Dean

Bad habit is fear, but that's what first comes to mind, if I'm honest, it's really being de-focused. I try to stay focused but I find it soo hard when my marketing fails or I can't find suitable products to sell (I sell on Amazon). I was using pomadoras to help me plan my time but recently finding out that chopping and changing is what is holding me back, I need to block out 2 hours at a time at least.

My best habit by far is communicating and organising, love it.

Yvonne
ps I have another really bad habit and that's playing stupid games on my phone. Perhaps the iPhone's not for me #justjoking

Habit

Bad Habit Doubt and allowing other things to sidetrack me when I know better.
Good habit I have faith and the stregth that comes with it

Thanks it was great

No set direction.

Hello everyone. My bad habit is not planning far into my future. I get up and do the things I'm used to doing. When I do get something on my schedule it works out well. I do need to work on new habits.

habits

betsymaher's picture

One habit I have that holds me back is surfing the Internet at night. I go to check if I have any new messages or just to shut down the computer and end up being on the computer for hours sometimes just going from one thing to another.

As far as good habits, embarrassingly as it is to say, I work at McDonald's right now - usually taking orders at the window and I always thought I had a bad, nasal voice but customers call me the lady with the sweet voice or the nice lady so I must be coming across fairly well.

Habits

Hi Dean.

As a job hunter, my bad habit is getting bogged down in reading news websites before working on my applications.

My empowering habit is to find managers' names and address my cover letters directly.

The first diverts my future, the other makes it real and provides focus.

Best,

BenjaminUK

Work hard

Hi Dean,

My greatest bad habit is working hard on SOMEONE ELSE's dream - day job. I am working 40 hours plus almost 20 hours of overtime every week for MANY years. I clearly realize that I am trading my life (time is life) for pay not satisfaction.

My greatest good habit is working hard on MY OWN dream. I have been spending almost all my spare time on my own business for a few months recently. I force myself to wake up at 4:30 am no matter how late I got to bed the night before. The reason I can persist is that I can clearly visualize my ideal future in present tense. I will quit job before 2017. I am sure my employer will find another employee as loyal as me. I am going to be my own boss. My dream must come true!

I encourage / challenge every DG family member to find your dream, set your goal and work your butt off on it!

Harry

Bad Habbit and Good Habbit

Hey Dean,

Bad Habbit:

A Bad Habbit of mine is that I think that my Job as a server and being great at it is the best Level of success I can achieve. It's the fear of failure and having the cash flow to get into investing real estate is my biggest thinking dilemma.

Great Habbit:

A great of mine is I am a knock out at selling and my customer service is off the charts for I know my menu and the food I am selling. I know I can selll anything under the sun and be great at it.

Habits!

Hello young Dean.

My very bad success robbing habit is procrastination. My most empowering habit that definitely needs to shine is my ability to be persuasive.

Thanks for allowing me to share.

good habits

Hello Dean,
My bad habit and my good habit seem to be one in the same. I cant say no, I'm always available to all if you need help, I'll help, if u had a bad day I'll cheer you up, feeling down, I get you to see the blessing you have. I've been taking care of my dad for about eight years he has dementia I put my life on hold was working in a dead end direction then I read your book totally fulfilled, I've also taken some of your real state classes and I've read so many self help books you would probably laugh. This past year I opened a makeover studio where I have been blessed to see the best in people, make them look, feel good and then photograph the moment. I love it so much that I would work for free..... is that another double edge sword? I opened with just sweat equity, my mantra is I'm a rich women that's just short on cash. I seem to have an endless energy until my body gives out... Can Optimism be a short coming when it benefits so many? One of your associates called me to ask me to be a part of one of your training programs for the book and again I didn't have the money he laughed and told me to read the book twice a day. I thought I like me... sorry he didn't get me.

Ok.... this just happen here is an example of my life. I'm kind of laughing right now as I stopped typing to help a lady, she just walked in having an emergency, on the wrong bus its raining and she just got out of the hospital couldn't get a ride home looked like she was going to keel over, she still had her iv attached she went in the store that's next door (wouldn't let her use the phone or the bathroom) so someone in there sent her to me said I would help, how did they know that? I just opened five months ago, they the store have been in the community for over twenty years.
I just spent fifteen minutes with her instead of working on my pricelists and inventory for a promotion this weekend or completing this note and yet I'm laughing at myself in a good way, of course. So Dean how do I fix this habit and get ahead financially and still keep a core value?

Bad/Good Habit

saelua's picture

Thank you for keeping up with your viewers every week. My bad habit is "over think". I talk about real estate and then I think about what will happen if this fails especially with no money and the debt I am in right now to succeed.
My greatest habit is "Talking and motivating someone else", or telling great stories.

Weekly Wisdom 405 - Do You Want My Iphone - contest

Dear Dean,

Let's start with my most empowering habit: I ALWAYS put my whole heart into the task at hand, once I've committed to doing something, doing the best that I can.

The habit that has been holding me back concerning getting into real estate is fear of losing my SSDI income because I am self supporting and you are not allowed to make more that $1,130/month or they will take your disability benefits away. I am now 63 and desperately need to find another source of income, however. I have 4th stage lymphoma and don't want to lose the house I now own. The money I'm now receiving pays my current mortgage and I must also work 20 hours/wk to pay my other bills but I now have no retirement or emergency money left. I have already gone through all my IRA retirement money and still have 3 years to go until I'm 66 and go on regular social security when they officially remove the financial work restrictions. I guess my fear of losing the house is paralyzing because I am alone with no family supports. Selling my house is not an option because I would be under water. I would welcome any suggestions you have for making a legal, non-reportable source of income besides housesharing which would be traumatizing for me, as I am sick and vulnerable right now. I've even asked my real estate broker friend and she can't think of what other legal sources of income there might be for me to pursue in real estate. I live in New Jersey.

God bless you for any suggestions you have that might get me into real estate with those conditions attached. I just want to remain in my home and continue making my mortgage payments on time and dream of getting into real estate after I'm 66, 3 years from now.

Please know that you are such a bright light and inspiration to so many people all over the world. May the good lord always bless and keep you safe and well and please keep those weekly wisdoms coming.

Blessings bountiful to you and your precious family!

Habits

My bad habit is being late. Know it sounds stupid but, it is something I just can't seem to control.

My good habit is that I'm stubborn. This can of course be bad as well, but it is my stubbornness that keeps me from giving up.

Sorry posted twice by

Sorry posted twice by mistake.

Bad and Best Habits

My worst/bad habit is my not forging ahead because of fear of failure, which is crippling my ability to earn.....my best habit is, I can build rapport and find common ground with virtually any person that I speak with...hence my frustration.

Thank you for letting me air that out.

Need Change

RV's picture

Dean, you got me when you said you needed to set aside all the worries - by being successful, giving you more time with your children, I know not in those words but that's how I understood it. I have a beautiful little girl who was born with autism. Love her to death.
I use to flip houses but only two a year so not like I wanted. I Had everything paid off at age 45 but then divorce happened and my depression lasted 4 years. The barriers I had broken through, soon went away, I just couldn't function, needless to say I went through all my savings. I'm doing good now as self employed but still living month to month but thank God I have a lot of work/clients. My bad habit is always saying not enough time so there never is and procrastination. My good habit is I'm always on time and do what I say I'll do. I'm not posting for the phone, just got me one but I would give it to my Mom. I just can't seem to get back to that place I worked so hard for when I was knocking on doors. The only motivation I have right now is my Daughter and if it wasn't for your weekly wisdom video's, who knows? Thank you for never giving up on us. Rudy

I got out of the beer habit

I want to preface this by saying most people in my country drink alcohol and I'm fine with that. Also, this probably doesn't exactly fit the criteria for your contest, so I'm not going to win the iPhone, but I thought I would share.

The personal habit that I've found empowered me the most, though, has been doing something other than drinking beer after a stressful day at work. I decided to give up the booze for October. I won't lie - this was harder than I thought and it was an awful month. I often felt like I had to just grit my teeth and get through the day and I was not very productive. It was enough to break the habit, though.

When November rolled around, I decided to keep it going a bit longer. I had lost a few pounds and could stand to lost a few more. I gradually found I was just getting more, done, though. I was better organised with non-work stuff that just had to get done. I started planning my work better. Things that used to seem like such a chore to do no longer seemed that bad. I was also finding time to stay more in touch with people.

Now, everybody's different and I'm not here to tell anyone to stop drinking. I found a habit that was holding me back and I didn't even realise how much until I'd stopped doing it for a while. At this point, I'm still uncertain about the future and whether I need to stay sober completely, or just form new rules around my drinking.

The good habit that helped me through the bad one was, strangely enough, listening to people. Somebody much wiser than me once told me we had two ears and one mouth and we should use them accordingly. I have made an effort to remember that whenever I need to communicate with someone. When I had to tell people I wasn't drinking, they were almost always supportive and usually had some story to tell me, either relating to alcohol or about how they had had to overcome something difficult and how they managed it. I got a lot of good tips and advice.

Thanks for making it to the end of my post, which was a lot longer than intended!

Still struggle with bad habits

sunflower2304's picture

Dear Dean,

I knew that I should avoid my bad habit which is procrastination, fear of failure and not strongly believe in myself. However, I still let it in me even though I knew it will keep me far away to success. Can you share with me some tips and tactic that I can completely erase it.

Would much appreciate for your great work and sharing.

Habits

bversaci's picture

You know Dean, as I read everyone else's "habits" I noticed one thing when it came to the worst habit - which includes myself: "Fear." rather it be fear of failure, fear of success, fear of loss etc.. we all fear something. Fear is an acronym. Do you know what it stands for? F***K Everything And Run!(don't recall where I heard it, but never forgot it).

Maybe it's just human nature to be afraid? If so, I have a two year old, what can I do to give him better success habits? This is one reason I watch your weekly wisdom's because I pick up things here and there I will teach my son. So thank you.

My worst habit: Fear of success; Sometimes I question myself, am I worthy?

My best habit: Giving. This is a most recent habit.A few months ago I read a book "The Blessed Life". I learned you don't have to have millions to give. I've recently made it a habit to give a portion of my income, a portion of my time and a portion to myself. It's the best habit I've ever encountered and plan to keep to my last day on this earth.

Bad Habit/Strength Habit

I have a bad habit of wanting things perfect, which is a huge hindrance when you believe in the speed of implementation. It has prohibit me form getting businesses started because things were not good enough. It has caused me to lose money on businesses and products because I wanted things perfect.

My strength habit or you may need see it as a habit, but I do. I hyper focus and get things done. I have horrible adult ADHD and I get distracted a lot, but I hyper focus like crazy. The only downside to hyper focusing is my brain is normally like jello for a couple of days. I could complain about the ADHD and say how much it kills my life, but I use the hyper focus and turn it in a strength and a positive for myself. Thanks for sharing the video.

HOLD BACK HABIT/ EMPOWERING HABIT

Dear Dean,
Not being able to reach out to someone to ask for information for the next step I think is my hold back habit. I know I want to buy a rehab and fix it up but figuring out which way to get that loan is a dilemma. My day then gets quickly filled up with day in and day out tasks. My empowering habit is that even at my age I actually got a contractors license so I'm not afraid to try new things.
Listening to your blog is so encouraging. You help people reach higher to achieve their goals so I keep coming back to hear more. Thanks Dean,
Ginni D

Fear or no fear

Hi Dean,
One thing stops me from moving ahead is fear. Fear is a negative emotion that surrounds me. It created false falsifies that prevented me to take actions. It hang around me especially when I have doubts and uncertainties about things. It fuels my negative emotions and imaginations. Endless of excuses why I won't take an action will pour in and over my potentials. As a result, I stalled, waited, and then waited. Eventually I lost time and opportunity. It consumed me from inside out and allowed myself to die inside while I'm still alive.

On the other her hand, one thing that made me successful is focus. It was when I am zone in on a subject matter that I can visualize success from the beginning to the end. Believing that by taking action I can achieve it. It was also fun, and rewarding with a sure feeling to succeed while suppressing all negative thoughts. Positive thoughts and confident feelings are generated. IF thoughts are non-existent. In a sense, feelings of fears are conquered without thinking about it. As a result, I succeeded.

So how do I maintain a good habit and keep focusing while minimizing fear?

wisdom ness: Sure-cuts but not the shortcuts

Its really difficult to talk about good and bad habit of oneself.

The habit which I feel is good is listening all the life transformation ideas which definitely uplifts the living.

But the other side i.e. one of the bad habit is not continuing that ideas for longer time. Still looking for shortcuts but not the sure-cuts.

Hiten

Bad habits and good habits

Another great WW Dean. Smiling

I think my worst habit is that I am willing to work 24/7 if something doesn't get done which allows me to not feel a sense of urgency to "get it done." For example, right now, I have 3 things I should be doing ( from my "things I get to do today" column on my yellow pad) but instead, I stopped to listen to the WW ( and it's Thursday already :^o) because I know by the time I get to sleep, they will be done, even if they take all night to do them. (I am aware that that does pose health risks and infringes on any kind of social life but it never seems to help me break the habit. Then again, I am not stressed so is it really wrong? )

The flip side to that sword is my best habit which is that I do, eventually, make sure things get done. I'm at a different stage in life so the need of urgency by others does not compel me to rush as it once did. I'm just unsure if that is really a positive? Is it selfish or self preserving? Is it care "less" of me if I don't rush or is it care on my part to make sure I do the best I can even if it takes longer to get done? (I'm a quality over quantity type of guy. )

What drives me is my reputation. I've always had a good one which has made me want to continue having it. It makes me feel good to have a positive reputation. I don't have a bad self image even tho others have said that my need for this says otherwise. That's why I turn to you Dean. Smiling The years of listening to you at least helps me understand it to explain it. Smiling
Have a great week.
