I am a firm believer that you MAKE your own luck! I truly believe that anyone and everyone can be lucky if they work hard enough!

There IS a mass exodus from Cali right now. Now just millionaires but people from all economical backgrounds. It is very expensive to live here and they are not at all friendly to small business.

I laughed out loud at your comment about my smile. I called an investor out on here once because he was posting some of his practices which I felt were unethical. He sent me a threatening PM and ended with "and I hate your toothy smile!"

I agree wholeheartedly! I have worked and worked for almost three years doing EVERYTHING that we are supposed to do.

I even had some money to invest in marketing. I mailed thousands of postcards, attended REIAs, networked, mailed hundreds of yellow letters to houses found Driving for Dollars. Did CL, worked with realtors and submitted hundreds offers. I have a terrific buyers list. A fantastic team.

When I watched Dean and Matt on their Inner Circle videos and they asked who is doing this and this and this? I raised my hand for every single thing! CA is a completely different animal! And not the friendly kind!

I KNOW how to do this! I have done quite a number of deals out of state with other DGers.

I want to get into the trenches myself! And get down and dirty! Ha! (Well, maybe not dirty!)

I like what you said and can relate to it all.The post cards,yellow letters,meetings,D.F.D,networking,bandit signs,etc.Marketing here can wear you out.I tell people all the time, California is a whole different animal.

My advice is to partner with someone out of state or find a way to do it yourself. Everyone in CA that I know that is actively investing is doing it in another state.

Occasionally a deal here and there in CA, but mostly elsewhere.

I did try to partner with someone from this site earlier this year, but they sent info on a couple of properties and then disappeared.I also talked to a couple others out of state from this site.It does seem that most are having success elsewhere.

I'm sure things have changed there, but you've got a good feel for the area.

You'll do just fine and probably better than in LaLa land.

I'm happy for you! It's nice to see someone not affraid to go for it in such a big way. Moving is a huge decision. My husband and I have been contemplating leaving New York too. We're the reflection of CA on the East Coast. I'm going to give it one more year here to see if I can really get my REI business rolling, if not we may be moving to FL. Like you said, it's not all nicey nice here, and it makes it harder to stay motivated.
