Help? Advice?

Help? Advice?

Hi everyone,

I'm getting worn down by my circumstances & need help! I know this is all possible & I don't doubt myself, I just have so much opposition & no support.

Here's where I am...
I was misdiagnosed with a medical condition that led to a bad chain of events. Long story short, my friends aren't around anymore, I'm broke, jobless, carless, deep in medical bills, & living with my parents.

I'm getting $$$ together for the academy, so that's not the problem. My parents said they'd let me use a car they never use. And that sounds good, but my parents tend to lie a lot, so that's unlikely. And they're constantly saying I can't do this... or anything else.

- Has anyone here invested without a car?
- Has anyone here NOT been able to get away from negative people at first?
- What keeps you on track if you don't have anyone to talk to?
- Please post ANYTHING that might help or motivate.

Thanks,
Paul

Just BELIEVE!

Hi Paul, Sometimes our circumstances seem to weigh us down but it already sounds like you are trying to work past your obstacles. Always stay focused and believe with everything you have that you are succeeding with every little step you take (even if you don't see it.) I think you can do it without a car (that's just another obstacle you can overcome at a future date). As far as the negative people and people that say you can't do it always remember that it is what you think of yourself not what they think of you. Try to spend minimal time around people that are negative, learn to control your thoughts and make them positive and eventually things will start turning around. One of the things that keeps me on track is coming to the website and reading the posts, getting questions answered, and trying to help whenever I can. This is like a family here. We all have obstacles and continuous roadblocks but like I've been told before - obstacles help you search out new ways of problems solving and a that in itself can be the positive side of the roadblock. Good luck with your investment career and I look foward to hearing of your success.

Paul

You asked the following question:

- Has anyone here invested without a car?

Just follow this link to Louisa's journal post about LuBertha who is doing it.

Hope that is the type of inspiration you were looking for.

Remember, don't let anything or anyone stand in your way. Good luck with your real estate investing.

Paul,

You can do it, just try to create an action plan and work the plan. You received some great advice above and there have been a few other DG members that have done it without a car. You may want to find an invetsment partner and pursue investingtogether in your area. There will always be negative people in your life, the key is to not let anyone or anythign steal your dreams. Come to the DG website often for information and inspiration. As Dean always says, dtermine your "WHY" for doing real estate investing and don't let anything detour you from your goals and dreams. Believe and Achieve! :)- Joe

Hi Paul,

There are always obstacles to overcome that is part of life. Everyone's are different. You can do this without a car and it will make it even sweeter when you are successful in REI.

About the negative people do your best to surround yourself with postive, helpful & like minded people. Ignore/avoid negative people. Believe in yourself and come to this website for information and support. There are so many kind, helpful & knowledgeable people here who want to help and want you to succeed.

I'm sorry to hear about your medical mis-diagnosis and the loss of your friends. Please know that you are not alone in that. I was a caregiver to my Dad (he had Alzheimer's)for 5 years and it was heart wrenching for me to see his friends (some of them he had known before I was born) distance themselves and vanish from his life - when he needed them most. Their intentions were not to be cruel. They were afraid of the changes in him and wouldn't deal with it (didn't make it right.) All I could do was surround him with love and new friends who had Alzheimer's in their life. All of us became family through a common bond and we were all there for him and each other.

I wish you the very best.

Paul

Several people are making progress in other states without setting foot in that state so I would not let a car stand in your way. There is so much motivation on this site you don't need the negative people holding you back. Make this a personal challenge by setting daily, weekly and monthly goals and review them often. We want to here something positive from you soon. Good luck.

Any ideas

I already have a piece of property paid for in full. Needs a ton of work. How do I get the money to fix it up. I don't have any of my own to put into it. I just bought dean's book and haven't read it yet. Any Ideas?

Yes you can

do real estate without having your own car and/or being temporary car less. I've done it! Others have done it. It takes motivation on your part and a lot of logistics planning getting around using Public transport or hoping on your bike (or motorcycle even) if its a shorter distance. Sometimes spending time alone to yourself can be a good thing! Also like others suggested network & learn from like-minded people. You can go to meetup.com or reiclub.com to find groups/clubs in your area. God Bless with your REI.

Options

Refinance to pull out any equity or use private money and sell for profit and pay them back their money plus agreed upon interest and find another deal and do the same thing all over again.

Hey

Thanks everyone.
And, bruce, that's all I needed to hear. Thanks.

If a car

or a bike is a problem then take a few bucks and buy yourself a fax machine(saves alot of running around time)and just fax over offers and contracts from your home until you absolutely have to get out to a property, that way you'll at least have an avenue to lock up a deal from your home.

I am trying to find a real estate agent

Hello,

I am trying to find a real estate agent , but this is proving so, so difficult. They are so rude. I got hung up on they told me there are no good deals. They act like they are the ones giving me the money to invest with? How much do you have to spend? What is your budget? Why am I getting all of these questions, when all I want is to find an agent to work with me? Plus I really don't know how to answer these questions. I don't understand why they seem to be on the fence. What is the best way to proceed?
