Why Do 96% Drop Out/Quit?

Great post Mike all i know is that i want to be in the 2-4% lol group! just like you guys! and im working hard to make it in that elite group!

I don't see any way around it. I am sure to have many failures on my success journey and I consider myself to be in the top 4% as I am willing to do things that other people (employees) are not willing to do. For me this is a period of due diligence and I will have many such periods as I go along and create my wealth. It does take me a little longer than it does for others because I sort grew up in a box where I was not allowed to do anything other that what I was told. Just asking a question was often seen as talking back and that was something not to do unless you wanted your life to end. Not a pretty picture but that is how it was. I thank GOD that I had my religion education by age 6 or I doubt seriously that I would even be here today. I lived in a war zone for the first 12 years of my life and as a result I learned a lot.

We must dream and we must make mistakes. The dreams create vision and the mistakes and failures show us what does not work. Its OK. Heck, Thomas Edison found 1001 ways that light did not work. 99 no to get 1 yes or 25 to 1 to get one deal. Its just the road to success with all its twists and turns and ups and downs. Nothing is all that it can be at the beginning and just develops over time. - This is just my 2 cents worth. -

Out of the 4% that dont quit in the 1st 60-90 days, ONLY 1/2 of them really make it, so theres the other 2%

overcome by KNOWLEDGE.

Once you KNOW what you're doing, you'll have the confidence and the fear will fade

ONLY focus on ONE strategy of REI, whether its wholesaling, assignments, fix/flips, buy/hold or storage buildings, laundry mats etc., and learn ALL about just that ONE to make some deals.
This will help you AVOID the "info overload' and keep you from quitting

Deans Program has been proven to work by literally hundreds, and thousands of successful students. The common denominator between all of these investors who have changed their lifes??? Persistance. They didn't quit. Real Estate has been around since it was only caves in mountains, and will be around as long as man is on this earth.

Get out there and do the things that you know work, do it over and over and over again until you succeed. Then go out and keep on keeping on.

Procrastination is one of those things that can keep you from succeeding more than any other single thing.

I always loved the quote and don't know who said it:

I feel that says it all. Today is the most important day in your investing career. What are you going to do today.

We as human beings naturally procrastinate. I've done it many times, we all have. Don't fall trap to it.

William James Said: Procrastination is attitude's natural assassin. There is nothing so fatiguing as an uncompleted task.

I love that quote because it is so true. Your mind and attitude can't help but to take a hit when it doesn't accomplish a goal, when it doesn't do something that it was planning on doing. Set goals, set realistic goals, and complete them. Set goals that allow you to succeed often as well. This will have a totally opposite reaction when you complete a goal. Give yourself the chance to feel the sweet taste of success often.

Learn HOW to do it and DO IT...as Dean says "Take Action"

So easy a caveman can do it

you have to constantly come on here and request inspiration

you have said on more than two occasions that you stopped and came back because you weren't motivated enough

you're scared to speak to people for fear of rejection or not getting what you think you deserve

you constantly blame others(realtors, etc) for your lack of success because you did and said everything all of Dean's books said to do and say and still nothing

this business is not for you.

Don't compare your success or failure to anyone on here; be concerned on what you do, because there are many factors leading to whatever your conclusions are.

Thank You Mike for the good advice. I appreciate it when experienced investors share out their hard fought trials and tribulations in the REI field. I always learn so much!

I am never going to give up and I am never going to quit either.

In fact, I have determined to join the Success Academy so I can be mentored by a successful, seasoned REI. Mentorship in whatever form is the best way to learn, I agree with you.

Currently I am in that 96% population, who so far has not made any deals, and for last few months completely lost steam. And the prime reason Is not setting goals, even with working on my WHY, did not layout any concrete plan and make those plans bring fruition..

Happy New Year! Setting your goals and creating your own destiny requires thought and planning. Want to keep this thread up top for inspiration during this time of resolution. So many goals go to the sideline due to improper planning, and not knowing your why FOR EACH GOAL. Do you want to be one of the top 2%? Think of something EMOTIONAL of what WILL happen when you are successful. Now think of the consequences of NOT achieving the success you so badly want. Back your goals with these emotions, and review the emotions often so you can FEEL what it will be like to either achieve, or not achieve... your goals! Best to you in 2015!

I feel blessed to be one of the few lucky to have made it out. I remember in 2009 when I started and read Dean's first book I was fearful never doing anything as big as real estate. It all comes down to determination and how much you want it. I stuck with it long enough and now I am the premier wholesaler in my area. You gotta really want it and have confidence in yourself. I am writing this as I haven't been here in a while just to give someone encouragement because I was there a few years back. Don't give up go for your dreams. I am a guy with no college education so there's hope. Keep at it.

This is the first time I've read this and I agree with every word!

Get the knowledge first then take action, YES you will take action with fear but after awhile it will go away..I think fear is a big one that makes people not go outside there comfort zone and that makes them not take action.

Perhaps it's because every Tom, D ick and Harry plus their uncles are in on the action?

Author says he got involved 15 years ago in 1985, yet this article was posted in 2010. In my primitive calculation that would be 1995. Am I missing anything here?
