"My Account" & other tidbits

I didn't see this mentioned in the original post...
Click on "My account" on the left to see your personal account profile, guestbook & latest posts you've participated in.

You can also set deangraziosi.com as your homepage so you see it every time you start-up your browser. It's usually entered by going to the menu bar of your browser, click on 'tools' then click on 'options' make sure you're on the general tab and you should see where to enter the address on the page.
These instructions are generic, your browser may require a slightly different approach to changing your homepage.

A little known fact, you can have multiple tabs open up for multiple homepages.

Say your browser is currently set to open "http://www.deangraziosi.com" and you want Total View to open up in a second tab at the same time. All you have to do is put a '|' in between the url's (addresses). The '|' character is the one next to the +/= key on your keyboard, you have to use the shift key to get it.
So your entry for the homepage address will look like this (without the quotes)
That will give you dg.com as your first(visible) tab and Total View on the next tab. You can do this for any number of tabs you want loaded on your browser start up.
But I digress...

If you copy/paste this into the DG.com search bar? You might find the page.

I started this one 2 years ago and it got lost in the "library"

Sure would be nice to "search" on DG and get logical responses.

Example Search: "I want to make money in real estate."

response: "you don't want to buy.... real....Ugh!...nice boots ....you... want to...book...Dean."

heres the link !: paste this >>>>>SITE MAP to DG.com - New Folks START HERE !!<<<<<

heres the part I was able to post here now: (notice no hyper-link)

__________________________________________________________________________________

OK, so it's not a site map, but if you're new to this site it will help others to help you. And YOU to help you.

*****NO REAL ESTATE QUESTIONS ON THIS TOPIC PLEASE*******

Introductions, site help and site help only !!

1)Fill out the bio on your personal account Home Page. Click on "My Account" or "Contribute >User Profile" in the left margin to get there. Tell people where you are in the country, where you are in your investment efforts, what you're trying to accomplish.
To look at anyone else's bio just click on their screen name anywhere you see it.

2)Use the search bar. Top left corner of the page. Up there under Dean's smiling face Smiling Type in keyword or phrase and hit ENTER. The magnifying glass is all for show. Type then hit ENTER. This will take you to the Topics that are relevant to your question. Read the discussions. Even if the Topic is old and nobody has added a post in 3 years, you can add a post and anybody that has ever posted in that topic will get your message. This works better than starting a new Topic because there is nobody IN a new Topic.
The Topic Subject will also appear in the top right corner of the Home Page under Active Forum Topics for all to see and you will get answers. If not? Ask again on the same Topic. If your questions are posted in Topics where they are "on topic", you WILL get answers. To get back to Topics you have participated in use the Bookmarks (left margin), the Search bar or look under "Topics I Have Participated In" at the bottom of your bio page at "My Account".

3)Join a group.Or start one! Click on REIClubs/Groups
(left margin) to find other people from your City or State. I think every state in the country has at least one group (and even some foreign countries) Except New Mexico, apparently I'm the only DG'er in New Mexico.
____________________________________________________________________________________

Paste above into the search bar and you will get an ................(spinning wheel of death)..................No Response.

ps-- the quickest way to that page is to click on "Send PM" on this post. When you get to my Home page, click on the "TRACK" Tab. Search thru every page from today back to the day I posted that. See how many people were as confused as you are NOW...back THEN. Don't feel alone. And PM those people. Some might answer.

Yep, I think I got that exactly right...

Welcome to DG.com Smiling <----smileys usually work too !

Hi Mike, If I may add another suggestion,

Hi Mike,

If I may add another suggestion, (with the 10 steps on how to do it Smiling )

New Members can also create a Journal Entry of "Useful Links" (like what I have done in my Journal, a link below)

http://www.deangraziosi.com/real-estate-forums/investing-journals/100017...

in their own Profile, so it's easy for them to get organized, and they can just go back to those links that they found useful for them when they need to, they can edit, add or subtract to their own list of useful links as they deem fit).

How to do this:
1) If you find a good forum topic, put your cursor in the URL area (top of this page), let's use Mike's thread (this one) as an example.
2) click Control A (Shortcut for "Select All"),
3) and then click Control C (Shortcut for "Copy" - this copies the entire URL or website address with the exact node and codes that would lead you to this page, to your PCs "clipboard
4) Open the "Notepad" program in your PC
5) While on "Notepad", Click Control V (Shortcut for "paste" = this will paste what you copied on your clipboard to your "Notepad")
6) Go to your Journal (if you haven't started one yet, here's a link on how to start one)

http://www.deangraziosi.com/real-estate-forums/website-help-and-feedback...

7) In your Journal, create/start an entry, "My Useful Links" (or whatever you want to call it Smiling
8 ) Go to your "Notepad" and then click Control A (Select All)
9) Then click Control C (Copy)
10) Go to the Forum thread you just created and then Click Control V (Paste) , so your useful links are pasted on to it and all handy for you!

Bookmarks are good, and the "Track" tab is good (if they've participated in the forum), but personally, I myself get lost in my own bookmarks or track tab sometimes, especially if I have bookmarked a lot! LOL)

Hope this helps someone. (This is something I did originally to help myself - that way I don't get sidetracked anymore when I go to DG . com to learn more about REI. Smiling

Thank you Mike for starting this thread and for always looking out for newbies (like me) and being helpful! I appreciate it! It's in my list of useful links to share! God bless you always!

Smiling

Cris

To Add to your List: How To Bookmark

Hi Mike,

Here's something to add to your list (I answered this in another thread and thought I can contribute it on your thread too) Smiling:

HOW TO BOOKMARK:
The "Bookmark" Button is only available if you are logged in.

IF YOU ARE LOGGED IN:
At the bottom of a dialog box of an Original Forum Thread, you will find the following buttons:
1) "Flag As Offensive"
2) "Share/Save"
3) "Reply"
4) "Write to Author"
5) "Quote"
6) "Bookmark this"

IF YOU ARE NOT LOGGED IN:
At the bottom of a dialog box, you will only find the following buttons:
1) "Share/Save"
2) a link to the Forum Post Author "User Profile"
3) "Log In"
4) "Register"

Most probably, DGers who say they are not finding the "Bookmark This" button are not "Logged-In" Smiling

ANOTHER OPTION:

Another option I can suggest is just click the "Control" button and "D" (Control + D) on your keyboard, and just save it in your browser's "Favorites" folder. That way you can also organize it on your own computer.

Hope this helps! Happy Investing!

Hi Mike

Hi Mike,

The question was asked (and I had the same question on bookmarks when I first began Smiling), because at first, I also couldn't find the "Bookmark this" button. So, I figured out that the "Bookmark button" is only available if one is logged in to DG . com. Smiling

Thanks for this thread! And I'm glad it's always being bumped because it is useful (You really have to be put on the DG payroll with all the good stuff you help all of us here! LOL!)

Thanks Cris
