In this week’s Weekly Wisdom, Dean wants to discuss why he thinks it is TRULY time to stop lying to ourselves.
Yep, you heard that right… lying to ourselves.
And look, it’s something everyone does… many people unknowingly.
But it’s something we need to seriously work on, something we need to cut from our daily habits immediately…
So watch this week’s Weekly Wisdom and hear what Dean has to say about “Lying to ourselves"

I suspect most are here
I suspect most are here because they are truthful to themselves. They are mostly likely not satisfied with their situation and are seeking ways to improve their lot in life. Otherwise, why would a content person want to enter a competitive field that will undoubtedly test their will and resolve.
About lying to myself
Thru out my life I have had one question that continually repeats and it is "what is wrong with me"? In my mind I am telling myself that their is something wrong with me because I don't see myself at a level of achievement that I see others at. It's confusing and has left me stuck and frozen in place. I am always working to fix it. The truth is there is nothing wrong with me except for the programming of my mind. Scripture tells us to train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. That is the truth and there in lies the problem and the answer. Reprograming my mindset is the answer and I am working hard on that. I need to cross over into the 2% and break every last bit of the poverty mindset if that is even possible. I am certain that I must tell myself some other lies that I have not been able to recognize.
Hey Dean!
Thanks for the ww this week. When i find myself lying to me I have become better at identifying it for what it is and then pushing it out, changing my thoughts. It seems impossible to stop those feelings/thoughts/emotions but I have become better at recognizing them and not letting them stick around very long.
I have recently opened up some new doors to try to push through the plateau that I have reach. I'm really working on continual personal growth in mind, body, soul, people interaction and financial security. We started our businesses 2 years ago and have been building them in the early morning, evenings and weekends working around my day job and raising a family. I really appreciate all the inspiration you provide to make me strive to be a better person. My focus, drive, attitude, and decision making is at an all time high and continues to grow.
I've stayed away from news the last few years since I first heard you talk about the "news diet". I have become much more aware of my sugar intake but have not decided to eliminate it completely yet, still need to associate it with more pain to fully eliminate it. I'm working on not judging people like you said its a continual process where you catch yourself doing it and then must let it go.
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your family! Lisa and Jackson ran a 5k turkey trot too, nice job running it in 25 minutes!
Make it great week!
Thom
Stop and think
What I love most about the weekly wisdom is that it just makes you stop and think. The more you learn, the more you realize you need to learn. Those who haven't learned much don't realize its importance yet. Thank you for derailing my mind on this beautiful December morning Dean.
The truth hurts...
and lying to yourself hurts more. Dean is right on the money. The sooner we recognize when we are lying to ourselves, the sooner we can be happy. I know I struggle with this all the time. Thanks Dean and God Bless to all!!!
Wow
GREAT MESSAGE!!!
thank you Dean!!
another challenge for the week! awesome!
I agree with CaREI that most of us who are on this site, and have been taking action, are telling ourselves the truth, and are trying to find a solution or answer to our pain. I know for certain that I have been doing that every day for the last 4 years! I have come a long way, but I know that there is still much more to be accomplished; and even though the road has been bumpy and I know that I may face many obstacles ahead, I am not giving up until I reach all my goals!
I am making a daily conscious effort to not judge anyone, and I am staying away from news 99.99%
Thank you Dean!
See you next year at the Edge 2015, can't wait!!
Be aware
Another fantastic weekly wisdom Dean !! Realizing we ARE lying to ourselves in so many ways is the first step but grateful to you for always bringing to light what we need to focus on and most importantly HOW to work on it and PERSIST on developing ourselves. Being a lifetime learner and self developer i am sooo glad I have you for a mentor !! Your awesome )
What a great message....
For quite some time I have used the expression " Sometimes, the truth hurts!" I used to say it to others but at one point, about 8 years ago, I started having to say it to myself. Happiness, was a facade. Security, non existent. Health, I was told my heart was getting ready to explode if I didn't change things. But I lived that life for many years.
The TRUTH, as they say, can set you free! The time had come to face it and deal with it. Now, the biggest source of my sadness is gone and I am a much happier person now. Security: a little luck, some planning and an acceptance of reality has given me much more security. Health, well.... I've always been a little chubby but I am working on it and probably will be throughout my life but my heart doesn't hurt anymore.
So stop lying to yourselves. Deal with what hurts you. Make the changes you have to. You WILL be better off for doing it. Dean's proof of that!!
Have a great week Dean and everyone.

To thy own self be true...
Thank you Dean for calling me out dealing with the lies I know I tell myself so that I dont have to deal with the fear of failure... but I know I must PUSH and deal with it no matter the struggle or pain. Your inspiration keeps me on target climbing towards my goals. Thank You ☺
Lying to ourselves
It came to me in the night and was on my mind as I awoke.
Every time we make and excuse of any kind - it is nothing more than a well planned lie.
Making an excuse is nothing more than a well planned lie.
On top of that making an excuse is avoidance.
great message-lying
Dean thanks for the message this week.
You are so right, many times it is easier to lie to oneself then to find the root cause of what is truly happening to us.
The ironic thing is if you work a little harder and motivate yourself you find that root cause and it does free you up. It's amazing!
Raul.
Do what is good for your life
Dean as usual you are on point which just goes to show having a mentor and needing a mentor is deffinantly a game changer I hope every part of the DG family enjoyed this golden nugget until the next thought process.

I Have To Lie
Great message, but i have to lie at myself every morning so i can make myself feel that i am building or constructing something for my future success. I look on the mirror and say i am a successful real estate investor that is going to make millions. my bank account is does not have the funds right now because my wealth is to much to count. i am wealthy and in the same level as every other great investor, maybe better. i understand your message Dean. But i try my best everyday and every event to turn negative into something positive. Like you said, "not why it happened, but it happened for me". Talk to you soon
Being Truthful
I've actually been thinking about this topic lately, but from a different angle... It is always important to be truthful with where you are, and you can't trade lying about your being OK with where you're at, not pursuing real estate for lying in your real estate business.
I've seen investors lie about their projects that they're wholesaling - not necessarily deliberately, but just choosing to ignore glaring issues and not disclosing everything. I've seen investors lie to themselves about their exit strategies, lie to themselves about how "easy and quickly" a project will sell, lie to themselves about the details of the deal that make or break the deal, lie to themselves about which Comps they choose to consider... lying is a habit we need to break, period.
Being truthful about the deals, about our lives, in everything being absolutely truthful.
...one more lie
I didn't get anything out of Weekly Wisdom #316.
I am not fat [just overweight]
I have been working diligently to further my Real Estate investments.
I have most of your books and read and have applied every direction.
And the biggest one [of all] I am not in financial straights.
Then, just one truth; thank you, Dean, for holding the mirror so I can see what is not yet done.
We both know the passage with regard to Faith; things hoped for though not seen.
2015. That is hard enough to swallow...where have the years gone; when did I stop working and started lying [about the future]?
Will this be the year that I DO as you teach?
Here's to a blessed and successful year!
Gentle Ben
Weekly Wisdom # 316
Thanks Dean for those words of empowerment. It motivates me to do 'reality checks' to reflect upon my actions and the results of my actions. I will definitely get a copy of your book "Totally Fulfilled". With reference to Weekly Wisdom # 315, I will focus on reading some empowering books for the next 30 days. That will be my '30-day challenge.
WEEKLY WISDOM
AMAZING WEEKLY WISDOM. I KNOW THAT IS ONE OF MY BIGGEST PROBLEMS. I FIND I THINK EVERYTHING IS FINE BUT WHEN I AM DRIVING TO WORK AND THINKING ABOUT WHAT I WANT IN LIFE AND LATELY I DON'T HAVE ANY DREAMS OR DESIRES OR KNOW WHAT I WANT IN LIFE AND SAY LIFE IS FINE. WHEN I AM REALLY TRUE TO MYSELF AND REALIZE I AM NOT HAPPY I START TO CRY. I AM DEFINETLY LYING TO MYSELF. PUT FEELINGS SO DEEPLY HIDDEN DOWN AND AWAY THAT WE DON'T REALIZE IT. THANKS FOR BRINGING THIS MESSAGE SO PATIONATELY TO US THIS WEEK. ONE STEP AT A TIME.
Stop lying to yourself!
Hi Dean,
Another thought to think about.......
The Truth is painful, but necessary to grow, and move on......
Honesty is the best policy, with ourselves, and with others around us.....
Have a great week Dean.....xo

Thanks Ray
Very true. Actually there
Very true. Actually there are many tough moments comes in our life, where we don't want to hear what our heart is saying. Even if it is true we don't want to accept it and fight with ourself.
True
The truth will set you free. lying to your self keeps you were you are that's the way it's been for me
