Welcome back to the weekly blog! This week Dean has a challenge for you.
When he first mentioned this, all of us in the office said, "Hey..piece of cake!". But after one day we were singing a different tune.
In any case, we here at DG Enterprises are going to take on this challenge with you...if you dare. What is it? Watch and see...

No News!... That's the Narrow Road. I Like it : )
Dean, thanks for the challenge. Majority of americans habitually watch the news and embrace it without thought. When we (me included) hear over and over again that the 'economy is the worst it's been since the great depression', we actually get caught up in it ourselves in our thinking. I don't want to think like the masses when it comes to finances and investments, I want to think like those who are successful even in times like this. Thanks again Dean... Nick
Oh Wow!!
Dean, thanks for the reminder. I believe I read this before in one of your books I bought and did it for a few days. But I did gravitate back to the news like I was missing something out there.
Negativity is almost like a drug and we, or speaking for myself, I wind up craving it. Why? To stay informed? To have water cooler conversation at my J.O.B.? No, I believe it's so that I can become aware of someone somewhere that is worse off than me and I can feel better about MY circumstances.
So great call, dude! I am off news again. Thank you soooo much for all of the encouragement!!

No News Is Good News!
Way to go Dean! Great news doesn't come on the tv or in the papers and magazines, it comes from within us. To me, the only news worth hearing is the news of one person helping another, and that unfortunatly doesn't usually make it in the media. It's a shame that we have become so negative, that the only news we're really interested in, is that which involves someone else suffering. I completely agree with MsEvans I know the times our local stations do the weather forecasts and that is what I tune in for. Our business is cement, so knowledge of the upcoming weather is vitally important to us, but other than that I am not a big fan of the news. Thanks, Dean for another great message. God Bless You and Keep You In His Warm Embrace. Myra
NO NEWS
Dean U r right about the news being bad the brain and ones ability to move head in life. I have not read any new print in months and very little tv stuff. Once in awhile I watch Glen Beck if I am home early. But not to often.
Talking positivly will be a challenge with my co-workers but am going to do it. U can take that to the bank.
U r a great inspiration to us all, keep it up and I look forward to the rest of the challenge.
Greg
Awesome Blog
Hi Dean,
I been in this news diet for a while and let me tell you it works!!!!!!!
Allow me to illustrate:
Watching news = discouraging, depressing, anger, feeling of hopelessness, negativity, need I say more....
depriving oneself from the "News" or negativity = focusing on one's goals and aspirations, appreciation of what is and what we have, more energy, motivational, positive, etc....
Taking part in DG's website = "Priceless"
You are right on the money
I stopped allowing the news media to set my mental parameters as my "new years resolution" on 1/1/10. While I don't have a perfect record, I no longer worry about things that really won't impact my world. I'm sure that a certain small number of things would help me, but the other 97% just adds to the noise which doesn't help me focus on my goal. Everybody should try this.
Easy pickins' on that challenge, Dean. Come stronger next week.
Had read the paper from the back side for years, until I concluded that the drivel in the Sports Section was worth even less to me than the negative nonsense filling the rest.
Tragically, the obituaries usually prove to be the only site for positive information, since the author there makes every effort to speak well of the departed, and since the reader leaves the experience thankful to be alive and still able to pursue the opportunities ahead. A sad commentary on the news, indeed.
FYI- Loved Gain The Edge 10. Now THERE was some useful information. Great job by you and your team.
Right on Target!
Dear Dean,
Thanks for once again keeping us on our toes! This will not be too difficult for me, as I rarely watch anything on TV but movies. BUT,online is another thing. I will bypass the "news" in favor of using my time for more valuable reading.
Thanks for keeping us focused on the PRIZE!
Helen
The Challenge
I'll take the challenge. You are so right - bad news sells and that's all you hear these days.
Thanks Dean.

Thank You!
Thanks Dean...
As always, staying positive, focused and moving forward.

Whew, what a challenge
Wow! Dean this is a big order for me, being that I am a news junkie. I am totally addicted to news thanks to our US Army. As a captain, I had to watch CNN at night prior to Desert Shield and Desert Storm and report daily to the Commanding General and the General Staff. I was addicted ever since. Your challenge is great, but I will to it...
Is The Classified ads included?
No! Because it's not news. You mentioned Micro loans and in fact I am in a night class which is for that very purpose. 10,000 - 25,000 but your financials for the startup or expansion has to be approved and they offer to back the loan regardless of credit status. The great part is that once you have proven yourself by making timely payments they then help with Grants. The down side is that Real estate investing is not allowed and you have to be a sole proprietor. Not that bad. I plan on utilizing my A+ certification (computer tech) and will try to emulate Carol Stinson's model as a side line. I just closed on a property for myself and children in Colorado. And will be moving there as owner financing is the norm there. Will build a Log Cabin kit home and my children and I will build it then consider selling or holding. In the meanwhile I'll continue going for my BS in Applied Business and Information tech. at Maui C.C. and my night class. Thanks Dean for the Motivation and resources you provide. I always look to your video Blogs to keep my attitude on the upside.
Keep up the good work.

Good Job! small steps turn into giant leaps. Like you, I'm pretty much turning a deaf ear to negative attitudes and have deleted can't from my vocabulary where appropriate. I too, have made the weekly videos my news and motivation/inspiration. Dean is a great motivator. We couldn't ask for better.

Great Challenge
Great to hear from you. Its interesting to see how many people don't watch the news as it is. I am one of those, I haven't had a TV in over a year and I really don't miss it. Can't wait to here what you have for next weeks challenge.
Have a great week.

Good advice!
Dean,
I am taking the advice you had given to take on one plateau at a time. And that worked well with me. Just as I did years ago when my world came crashing down. I learned to take just one step each day to deal with one thing, then it wasn't overwhelming.
So each day, I take that one plateau, and found I'm getting more things done now then before.
But I did chuckle when I watched your video this week.
Because I hate reading newspapers and magazines, and never have or will. Not one to sit and listen to talk radio where everyone hashes over the problems with the world. As for tv. Where I live, we have no cable, I am not interested or can't afford the dish, but do have the converter box, and rabbit ears, when you are lucky you get a station for about 15 minutes, then it disappears. Very annoying if you really want to watch the news and weather..
I do like to watch the world news at 4am, but that fades in and out. So sometimes you give up!!
So I thought of other things that interfere. I actually gave up talking to friends about real estate because I am tired of the negative.
Since I kind of avoided some friends, other than when we have horse talk, I found I am getting more done.
I have been working so hard at getting all the ducks in order to be ready to call on houses, I found more things are working for me.
So thanks for the boost again. These weekly blogs help us to stay focused, and brought back the why we wanted to do this in the first place.
I am so glad I checked you out for training...it is awesome knowledge! And you don't just stop with that, you sincerely give us the pep talk!

Positive News
Dean,
I have been visiting this website since I bought your books around March of this year and this is my first posting.
I agree that we all should limit the amount of time spent viewing the media and reading what is published. It is well known that "Bad News" sells. However, I have found a few programs that don't appear to be as biased and present more factual news. One example is the Thursday, Oct 7, 2010 edition of Mad Money (Jim Cramer). He started out the program with: "Ten Big Positives in this Market", which included #4 Commercial-property market. [You may visit the website at http://MadMoney.cnbc.com] He's focused on what is going right.
I don't agree with everything that is presented in the program, but I have found it to be more positive than most other programs.
I am looking forward to the second part of Dean's blog. I enjoyed them much that I clicked on "Dean's Weekly Blog" [above] and watched all of those available. Thanks and keep up the good work!

2010 Edge
First I would like to know,...Dean said, that in a few months after the Edge 2010, we would get The Edge 2010 in the mail to go over again. I have been looking forward revisting what we learned in June at the conference. Does anyone know about that? Has anyone received theirs?
And, I will take the challenge if you keep us updated on what to do about the holds on foreclosures. ??? How will that effect us???
Thanks Charisse
Fasting the news
Yep, It feels good not to have such heaviness thrown upon you from the news. Depressing and sad most of the time. I have stopped many times from watching just for that reason. It becomes too much handle.
I would really like to know more about the Foreclosure holding and what we can do to go go around this, since I am new and have not had my first deal as of yet with out money or good credit, what is next and how do I solve this problem to get results???? Do tell...... I want to keep moving forward....I am trusting in the Lord

Kudos
Thank you for another great video blog Dean. I truly try to practice being a positive person and paying it forward to others by following the "golden rule". I must admit that I like to watch the weather on the news, but have found a new source for this so that I can plan appropriately. Please keep the accountability piece going as each of us make adjustments in our lives - I am sure everyone remembers our parents telling us to be careful who we associate with because this will effect who we are . . . the news/media/negative people are no different "misery loves company".
Thank you again and I hope everyone has a fabulous week.

Great Challenge
Thank you for the blog, challenge is harder than it sounds. I will stay away from all news media, and I accept your challenge.
Thank You
Arnold
Great Challenge Dean
The first part of your Challenge was not hard for me since I do not really watch the news anyway, The second part was alittle harder hearing People talk about the negative news, when that happens I have to hit that switch and think of all the positive things that have happened to me and that helps keep me Focused on my future. Keep up the good work.
Inspiration Received
After studying the weekly blog, I am more determined then ever to succeed. Thanks for the advice.
