Another great blog. And yes this is a easy challenge for me. It just gives me a little more time for REI.

Part One, EASY!

Kevin A Goldman's picture

Hi Dean and DG Fam,

Well I must say I that I've been on news diet for quite a long time as it is. I haven't watched TV/cable news in ages. I haven't read a newspaper for even longer, but admittedly, I was reading TIME magazine. Thanks for calling me out on that one, Dean! But I've given up on that, too. Certainly, not everything in the magazine was negative, but too much of it. And my time became more valuable for setting up my business than reading TIME.

When I'm in the office or among certain friends, the latest gossip or many of the things on their minds or tongues are negative things. I've stepped away from that as much as possible because I know that being involved with real estate can be a tremendous thing unless crushed by our and our friends’/families’/acquaintances’ negativity. Listening to the successes of peoples on this site tells us all that success in real estate investing is real and can happen for all of us!

In line with last week's message, I am fighting the ideal me. Where I want to be, how successful I want to be, and that is probably my biggest source of negativity. My job gets in the way and makes it difficult to take steps as quickly as I want. Small steps is one thing, baby steps another. But I AM taking steps.

E-mails I get discussing anything related to REI is my news, now. Dean, your blogs are my news.

To challenge myself this week, not only will I pay more attention to those e-mails or listen to your blog or the EDGE DVDs again and again as I work my baby steps, but I will continue to ignore negative news, avoid the friends and acquaintances stuck in bad news themselves, and I will start looking at my baby step successes as the positive daily news. Even a baby step is good news, and I'm about to go through my notes and type up my script for talking to the real estate agents on my list. And in an hour or two, when it's done, I'll pat myself on the back.

Looking forward to part two of the challenge Dean! Good luck to everyone this week!

Dean,

Thanks for taking the time to share another weekly video blog with us. The right mindset can make all the difference in the world. So often than not, we are faced with the "negative". Through news on tv, in magazines, in the newspapers or even through friends and co-workers. It is key to always look for the positive rather than the negative because the negative is so much easier to find. Kind of like deals, if you go through enough you get to the destination you were striving for all along. Going down the road with challenges can make everyone a little stronger and smarter with knowledge that can benefit them forever. Good luck and continued success in all you do. Believe and Achieve! Smiling - Joe

Awesome!

Awesome challenge Dean, this would be an easy challenge and a fun one at that. I try to avoid the news like the plague! I look forward to hearing the next half of the challenge.

Gratitude!

Thanks Dean for this great tip! I will try my best not to watch any news on TV that are about negative things. Focus on yourself, not by what this world is showing you.

Thanks Dean!

Once again, many thanks to you and your great blogs. This is an easy challenge but a meaningful one. We want you to know that we are utilizing our time by avoiding anything that is negative in our lives and focusing on REAL ESTATE and obtaining PRIVATE LENDERS. We do not have any time to focus on negativity anymore. You're the best! Keep the blogs coming!!!!

Thank You Dean

Thanks for the blog Dean. You are so right about the news and the stock market. We got into a stock market class a year ago. We wanted to make money from stocks to invest into real estate. The money we spent on the class we could have bought a home in the area we are doing REI in. Plus like you said we watched all the news to see were the stocks were going.

On your last blog I said we did not do our 5 deals to get are refund for the academy cost and it was no fault of the academy or other Dean ressouces, well here is the fault. We got so tide up with watching the stocks going up and down on the news that we lost out on a lot of good REI.

I do believe that you can make money in the stock market, but we would have been a lot better off sticking with Dean's plan on REI.

Live and learn. So to all of the new investors out there, listen to Dean, the Coaches and the awesome successful students and you will make it in REI.

Thanks Dean

Steve and Veronica.

That is EASY!

You mentioned it in your weekly blog about a year ago, to take a vacation from the news. I've been on that vacation for a long time and it has been a positive outlook in my life. Thank You- If only I could get my wife to follow suit. my kids are not interested in the news whatsoever, because I've made sure to teach them about not letting anything negative into their minds. I heard it from You, and I took heed. Thank you again, You do make a difference. Every blog, every conference call, every one of your efforts does not go unnoticed in this household. I have your quotes up on my wall and in my kids room. You are helping generations to come.
Blessings,
Ang.

thanks

A coincidence?

smurfy's picture

Just yesterday (well, Saturday) I went over to my mom and dad's. They were watching the news, and I swear, every item was negative! So I talked them into playing cards instead Laughing out loud I refuse to be subjected to such negativity! Synchronicity! (I don't believe in coincidence)

Great blog Dean, this challenge is no problem. I generally refer to the news as entertainment media and it is of poor content and script. This is not to say that news worthy things do not happen. Just which story is the closest to or farthest from the facts and they change from one day to the next. Who needs it?

News

Dean, thats any easy one- already given up a lot of TV this past year. Its a distraction from living.

challenge 1

very interesting challenge - i think a really big one for some people. I wonder what part 2 will be? No news is an easy one for me. I am sooo busy all the time, I rely on friends and family to fill me in
Have a productive week everyone!

Good Habits

Thanks Dean for starting a good habit long ago about the news. I was forced to treat the news ( especially news about the real estate market ) like the regular ney-sayers in my life. Just smile and keep on moving. Thanks for that one Dean.

See Ya,
Manny

Quite a Challenge

Captain777's picture

Dean,
I am going to try to avoid the news this week. I have been mostly watching Glenn Beck, but they always stick news bits in the middle of his show. I will not watch GB this week, and maybe that will wean me off of that program altogether. I really need to spend that time on my REI business anyway. Thank you for the challenge this week. Let's pray that many of us will meet that challenge.

ps Waiting for the second part.

Tim

Great Idea

The news is such a downer!! What a fantastic idea. Instead of the news this week, we have houses to see, REI monthly meetings to attend and offers to put out.

Thanks Dean

Sounds like a good idea I'll

Sounds like a good idea I'll give it a shot. Maybe it will give me more time to go through the edge material

Awesome tip!

This one is easy for me, since I quit watching tv a while ago except for the weather & a weekend movie with family or friends. I worked for a newspaper; negativity was their sugar and spice; happiness wasn't acceptable. I refuse to keep nay-sayers around me now that I've left the best- yet paying job I've had, but the most negative influence in my life- behind me. Praise God! Please . . . Keep the blogs coming Dean! Your inspiration is my daily fuel!!
Best Wishes
Carolyn

I'll do it, not watch the news

I accept your challenge to not watch the news.

Yes the news is full of negativism, we'll be able to take on the challenge. Keep on keeping on. Thank you for your weekly blogs, ready for part 2.
God bless you, and have a super week.

Accepted!

No news! Only positive thoughts and concentrate on me and my family. The future truly looks brighter!
I will be positive and only have positive around me. A challenge to the DG family, smile at one person today and I bet you will get a smile back. I did...

Blessings.

Hurray for you Dean, It's

Hurray for you Dean,

It's about time someone spokeout about all the negative news on all of the medias.. Do they not know that negativism produces negative results, or maybe they do not care.

Your right! it's all about selling.Well I don't
think like that.Every mourning I get up from bed I go the the bathroom and look in the mirror, and with a big smile I say to my self "Never let anybody to intimidate you to have a bad day" Then I sing " I'm just wild about Harry". Thats me.

Now smile and go out and have a great day!

Discontinued the Newspaper Over a Year Ago...

Dean,
Thank you for bringing this to everyone's attention... You subconsciously get sucked into all the crap in the news without even knowing it.
I had to get rid of the newspaper as it was controlling my life! If I didn't get to read it I couldn't throw it away till I had time to go through it. It was major clutter and all negativity!!! My husband and I went out to lunch yesterday "Sunday". When we were through and he was paying the bill he said "Lets' get a Sunday paper to take home" so we did. After spending a few hours going through it I carried it out to the garage and said "That was a waste of my day" he said what do you mean I thought you liked reading? I said it was all crap... negative news. The only good section was the Real Estate section. As far as TV, minimal at most. I do read a lot. But I have to learn from it, love business books...
Something I have picked up along the way that are very upliftng are paraliminal dvd's. I discovered them about a year ago when I was doing a "Feng Shui course". You really can change your life with them, it's changing your thoughts through your subconscious mind.
Anyway, anything that will bring me closer to achieving my goals can't hurt...BE...BELIEVE...ACHIEVE!!!
Barbara
