Rental Housing: Long Island has only 17% "rental stock" as opposed to other Metropolitan Statistical Areas which average approx. 35%. It is one of the lowest in the country. This makes for a high demand for apartments/rental homes. It is why LI residential rents are some of the Highest in the Country. $1200-$2000/month for one bedroom apartments. There is very little "Vacancy Factor". Rentals are in short supply. Residential Real Estate Brokers charge the Tenants a commission not the landlord.
