Most people, I would say, that start in real estate has fear when investing. Some times these fears stop the potential investor from investing.
One of the fears that hindered my investing for some time was my age. I was afraid that others would look at me and because of my age would decide not to work with me.
I overcame this was by learning everything I could. I wanted to know real estate better than every other person. I wanted the confidence to confront anyone that I worked with. There is so much good information such as Dean's information I could do this.
Now, not everyone has the same hindrances as I. Others that may read this post could benefit from us. What are some of your fears? What have you done to get over the fears?
If you would like the chance to work with me or one of my fellow real estate investor coaches and our advanced training programs, give us a call anytime to see if Dean's Real Estate Success Academy and our customized curriculum is a fit for you. Call us at 1-877-219-1474 ext. 125
Even though I've been "investing in real estate" for years, I guess I didn't really even know what that meant until I read Dean's book and came here. Then (and now) I have ALL THESE QUESTIONS. My fear was looking stupid, but I figured with every question I asked or found the answer to, that was one more bit of knowledge to add to the bits I already had. I'll never know it all, but I'll keep knowing more than I did.
And that will put me one step closer to fulfilling my dreams.

Yes, the wife is my biggest fear. I tried to bring her onboard with me but no such luck. Now I am not frightened about investing in property but the fear hits me if I cannot do anything with it over a long period of time to profit from it. That is when the wife factor enters the room and I get the "I told you so" and the years of agony listening to it over and over again.
Honestly, I am really fearful of putting myself in a bad situation that I cannot get out of. My wife just happens to be top the list if anything goes sour.

You'll just have to prove her wrong. Then you'll get an admiring "Wow, you were right!" instead. If you don't try what will she say? What have you got to lose? Sounds like you are confident in the know-how, you just need more confidence in you. We'll back you up. That's what we do for each other here.

I don't have much knowledge- I just got the course. But I see many legalities even though the success stories make it sound cut and dry. I have no problem speaking to people, approaching owners/sellers and making a deal. I fear a few things. Using the wrong strategy at the wrong time. Making a mistake that will set me back and cause me to actually lose money-like buying a property I can't rent or sell. I don't want to make a "bad" mistake you know? And there is so much that must be done in the process- titles/deeds, the closing itself, finding a lender when you have fair/poor credit and no money. What if I find a house I want to lock up but don't find a buyer (in time). These are some of my fears since I am so new at this and there is so much to learn.

I just have to get through the first transaction and then I think I will be alright. Appreciate the words.

It's just a matter of time. Hopefully sooner than later, right? lol
I guess that will be up to you.

Greg,
Don't fear anyone. Your wife should be glad someone is taking the first initiative. Remember Life is full of obstacles and sometimes we fail and sometimes we succeed.....the most important part is how well your able to get up after you fail. That's your character, build your character and you'll never fail. I am speaking from experience.
Your gonna do great, don't give up!!!!! it's impossible to go for a long period of time without make a deal.....impossible.
Rick

Don't Wish the Past, Create the Future! - DH
Three years ago my girlfiend at the time and her mother told me I was a loser and that I was lazy. I didn't understand it because I worked real hard and never missed a day at my job. I dated her for 4 years and she was always negative about me. They didn't think I would ever amount to anything. She broke up with me and sent me on a downward spiral. Shortly after she broke up with me I was searching for something...something that would prove that I wasn't a loser. I didn't sleep very well at night due to the stress of being alone and I happened to see Dean's infomercial on TV. I bought the kit. It was my chance. I took off like a rocket and did everyhting the books told me to do. Negative wives please don't discourage your husbands, the world already does a good enough job of that. Most men live lives of quiet desperation. Many times a woman's encouragement makes all the difference in the world.
You've got to find your obstacles and call them out! Unsheath the sword, and do battle with whatever it is that holds you back!

I have a negative husband, mother, father, and sister. I have one sister who did fairly well in REI with her husband. They sent the bug to me and it bit hard. I have been looking at great deals for 3 years now, but have made no transactions, mainly because the negatives (who I love dearly) kept telling me that I will get into a situation I cant afford to get out of.
I just recently purchased Dean's book and plan to sit down and read it within 10 minutes of recieving it. I am more positive that I can make REI a part of my life and not just to learn about it, but actually begin to make transactions and (hopefully) make some money. I do, of course, welcome any and all advice to help me go from being an observer and planner into an actual Investor!!!
Just put that into action, and you'll do great. You'll learn so much from the book and from this site. What you choose to do with it will determine your success. If I could do it, you sure can!
We're behind you 100%!!!
As far as the negative people, just take pity on the poor souls. You can take them on vacation with you next year with the extra money you've made.

I need all the positive encouragement I can get, because besides my sister and a Realtor friend of mine, I am on my own here. Believe me, I plan to be bugging everyone on this site with a lot of questions until I am more comfortable doing REI. I have only been on this site for a few days and I feel like I have been in a few classes like when I was in college. I have learned so much already! Again THANKS!!!!!
I'm sure we'll learn from you, too.

I definitely feel better knowing that I am not the only one surrounded by negativity. Not that I am happy that some of you are facing the same thing as I am but I think you know what I am saying.
I appreciate everyone's comments.
