A Alert For Craiglist Users ( My E-Mail got Hacked )

A Alert For Craiglist Users ( My E-Mail got Hacked )

Just to Alert people who are using Craiglist .

I Believe My E-mail account was hacked into last night , I signed up to Craiglist some time ago to post up Ad's for my Real Estate business a few weeks into Signing up on Craigslist I Notice I was receiving strange e-mails like someone else was posting ads under my account , & then A few days ago after I got my computer back up on the net I login to my E-mail account & notice I had 30 e-mail messages sent through my account that I never even sent & I ignored it & it happend again & I would Delete the Messages thinking maybe its just Junk mail .

But this morning I tried Login into My E-mail Account & I could not login at all its like someone Went into my E-mail Account & changed my password How I don't know but I have had to recreate A New E-mail Account & Change everything Over to my New E-mail Address Including my Bank Account E-mail address & Password so that whom ever hacked my Account can't get into my Bank account & other accounts That I used for that account .

So If you notice Sent E-mails That has bounced back to your Account & You never sent them Please Change your Password Or even better Delete that Account & start over .

I believe its Users on Craigslist Because I didn't start getting Strange e-mails like that until I Signed up to Craigslist & My Craigslist Account seemed that someone was using it to Post Ad's Over & Over again .

so if anyone else is expreiencing the same thing please don't ignore it .

Thank You for the Heads Up

Thank you for this information - i have heard of similiar cases of this issue several times already this week

craigslist

I never put an email address when I run ads on craigslist, I have only my phone number and hide the email part.
I advertise a farm for rent and things for sale, can they get your personal email, if you hide your email and just use a phone number.
Really scared to use it now.

thanks for the info

Thanks for for letting all of us know about this so we can keep an eye out on what is going on there. One should always use a separate password for every account that they have and one that is hard to figure out by using numbers, letters and signs at least 8 digits long or more and there are programs that can pick out passwords for you and if they are hard to remember you can also use firefox a secure web browser compared to windows internet explorer and save you passwords and there is also a addon for firefox that can backup your saved passwords too. I keep up with computer programs and such this is how I know about these, use to be my job working with puters.

Craiglist Users

Not sure if this works everywhere, however, we can post on Craigslist w/o listing our personal email and have the response come back through Craigslist. If the responder is legitimate they won't care if the initial contact is that way. Also I have many email addresses for that same reason. Set up a separate email account just for Craigslist use. In the long haul, it saves time.

Craigslist

Yes I had the same situation happen to me they tryed to post threw my craiglist account and wanted me to sign in,as you go onto graigslist they warn you about this, it looked like a car dealer was trying to post cars it made me really mad. You have to watch!! Keep you eyes open at all times.

Oh my!

Looking back, that is when I started having all my computer issues. I had reported a problem to my isp because it was telling me I was sending too many emails from my account when I was only sending a few a day. Then my computer started crashing. Changing it right now. Sad

Thanks for letting us know!

I even used the anonymyzer!

Thanks for the heads up!

Good to know before we get caught up in a frustrating situation. Thanks again for the warning.

Craigslist

When Craigslist was first established a number of years ago, it was the ultimate in free advertising. Then came the adult ads, the porno kings and every other deviate that you can possibly imagine. Over the years, I have posted many ads on Craigslist and have never received a positive response, only those of sexual content. Personally, I will not use Craigslist now or in the future. Recently, Craigslist has announced that they are in the process of "cleaning up" their site. It is about time. It is a shame that those who constantly mis-use such sites, sites that could benefit alot of individuals have to constantly turn sites into what they have become. I would strongly recommend not to post further ads on Craigslist until they can clean up their act.

Porn section is gone

If you notice on the news Craigs List was forced to remove those porn ads or the area where basically prostitutes advertised their services. That part of it is gone.

I have been getting email in my regular email (Att) saying that Craigs List has suspended my account and that I need to click on this link to fix the problem.
HA HA! I always delete these emails...probably loaded lots of viruses.

Thanks!! kanzaz88

Thanks Also to collazopp and Jay C
I have been Hacked also,I have changed my PW 3 time but I will change my Email
now.

your welcome

You guys are welcome I'm actually is trying to contact YAHOO! to see if they can delete that account or at least reset the password to were I can go in again & delete it myself but Contacting Yahoo isn't easy .

& it looks like whom ever changed my Security Question on August 9th 2010 , mind you I never changed my security question on No August 9th I believe I was in NYC on Vacation on the 8th , 9th , & 10th .

So With out knowing what the hell they used to change my Security Question The only thing I can do is try to contact Yahoo! & have them to reset my password .

Cause right now I can't even get in at all cause they've changed the security question & password so I'm out of luck .........LOL

I will not be using Craigslist again to post anything up .

I Agree

if you been hacked 3 times I would just delete that account & start over .......LOL
cause Once They know your E-mail account they'll continue to hack it because they know it & they can send you Fake logins & stuff

I believe they possibly sent me A Fake login & thats how these B4stards are getting into ppls accounts .

SAME HERE TOO

Thats exactly what I was getting too , But then I started getting Just Random E-mail's in my Regular "ATT" In box that looked like Spam like someone was sending Out loads of e-mails to A list of people includes my Own e-mail & the e-mail's were bouncing back to me as "MAILER FAILIERS" & they were like 30 & 60 e-mails at once .

I just thought maybe some spammer had gotten my e-mail & was sending random pieces of mail out .

But Now I know that it was possibly using my account to send out pieces of Junk mail in A desqused coded E-mail address to make it look like it was coming from some were else when in fact they were using my damn account to send out junk spam.

So you may want to Delete your account while your lucky to get in ...........LOL cause if not you may have to do like I'm doing changing everything over to A new account.

Good thing I Deleted all my Contacts off that account 3 years ago because I rarely sent any family e-mails so I just removed everyone off ......LOL Good thing I did that .

& I know it has to be some one from Craigslist

& I know it has to be some one from Craigslist because I have had my e-mail account for at least 5 - 6 years & has never had any issues with hacking until I Signed up to Damn craigslist .

My Advice is

If your going to use Craigslist please do not use your own personal account create A different e-mail account this way if they hack the account they can't get anything but responses from craigslist ...........LOL & you won't be bugging out due to it been your personal account were they may have access to your Bank account ect ect .

Or

Just don't use Craigslist at all .

I Still won't use Craigslist even if they was A 100% Safe

Well I won't be using it even if they do clean up their act because Now I don't feel safe with their website & system & in the future I still won't be signing up there to post anything .......LOL .

Response to your Craigslist security breach .....

Hey fellow DG family members!

God lord, as if we all don't have enough "stuff" to concern ourselves with just trying to make deals and get them closed!

Were it NOT for this post, this issue would have been the furthest thing from my mind!

Thank you everyone for the heads-up!

Kindest,

Ralph

Some people Are sick

who ever it is are sicko's like why would you want to hack into someone's e-mail account like I Guess they think they're going to get Credit Cards & Bank info , but what they don't know you can go & change your Bank account Or even close it & Have A New Credit card issued & A new account set up .

its not like you can't get the **** Closed & Have A new account set up , you can do it as fast as they can hack & try to steal your stuff .

I'm just curious of why anyonewould want to hack period .. would they like it if someone hacked their asses back & Stold their Accounts NO they wouldn't so why would they want to do it to others .

SICK FREAKS .

Thanks

I was toying with the idea of joining craigslist. Now, thanks to you all, I can avoid that headache.
Much appreciated.

dummy account

You guys Craigslist is a valueable tool. That's where most are looking for homes ect. Use a new dummy account for your email just for Craigslist. That should stop the spam to your personal account and there won't be anything like personal bank statements, credit card ect. in that account so you're fine. I use that method for signing up to stuff because you get bombarded with spam otherwise.

My 2 cents.
