Always stand up for yourself and what you believe in!

Always stand up for yourself and what you believe in!

In life we face challenges each and every day. How we deal will those challenges define who we are as a person. As you pursue your real estate investing career, there will be many naysayers, family, friends or even strangers that tell you it won't work or you will not be able to make it work.

How do these people know what you can or can't do?

So often these same naysayers are controlled or influenced by their own fears or lack of ambition or motivation. They want to hold back others that have desires, goals and dreams.

Never let anyone ever hold you back because you can do anything! If you believe in yourself, anything is possible!

If a real estate agent tells you you can't submit that low of an offer.....You Can! - Find another Realtor!

If a banker tells you you can't refi a property without seasoning....You Can! - Find another Bank!

If a lawyer tells you "can't make those concepts in that book work"....You Can! - Find another Lawyer!

Do not, I mean do not! let anyone ever steal your dreams! You will succeed! You will Believe and Achieve! You will cross that finish line even if you have to break-through that line of naysayers to get there! Are your ready? Let's start today!

Believe and Achieve! Smiling - Joe

Great advice

Great advice Joe. Naysayers are like the weight they put in the sled at a tractor pull. The more weight, the tougher it is to move forward. Yes I live in the country. HA-HA

Joe,

Thanks for another great post. Your words are so very true.

Advocate,

Thanks for the comments. I guess the key here is to try to free yourself "of the extra weight" holding you back and it will always be easier moving forward. Sometimes things can hold you back and you have to do whatever it takes to move forward. Believe and Achieve! Smiling - Joe

Joe

When we feel we have it all, they is still so much more to learn. Joe, I have learned that no one has to know what I am doing. We have to realize that people do not want us to succeed, because they are not succeeding. That goes with out saying, but as you say Joe, we cannot and must not let anyone take away our dreams and goals. Great post.

Sandra,

Thanks for the comments and the insight. I hope all the new DG Members stay focused and confident and know that they can do it! As Dean often says try not to listen to the daily news, or the naysayers around the office water cooler. The key is to learn from what others, think for yourself and be careful with who you share your dreams with. A "Dream Stealer" can take away your passion to succeed, but they do not know what you can truly accomplish. Therefore, listen, learn and keep the faith of your journey going each and every day. Believe and Achieve! Smiling - Joe

Joe,

Your words are inspiring and SO true! Thank you for posting and keeping us moving towards that goal. It's amazing what you have achieved and yet continue to contribute and help all along the way.

One question, What can you do when the naysayers are the people closest to you in your life? Like, a spouse, mother/father, sibling, best friend? It's not so easy to "Find another" spouse, parent, b/f, etc.

I know you and your wife have been doing this as a team. Not all are so lucky. I guess that's where Dean's "Success Partner" comes into play. Even just ONE positive, encouraging person in your corner and help offset all those negative ones. This site is loaded with them and you are definately one. so THANK YOU

Rae

Joe

I have noticed that you always take the time to try to uplift others, as you continue in your walk as an investor. Once again your have reached out to some who might be very discouraged, to give them hope. You are an inspiration and I know you have and will continue to be rewarded for your efforts. That is what is so great about this DG family and it begins with Dean. I see so many that no matter how successful they become, they always reach out to try to help and encourage others.

You are a blessing Joe

Vincent (footsoldier)

Rae,

Thanks for the nice comments and additional insight. It is true that each person needs to find what works for them. Stay positive and take action each day toward your goals toward success.

I believe the following suggetsions may help you with the "naysayers":

- Visit dg.com and be an active member on the website. There are so many other like minded peole that it is a great place to get information and inspiration.
- Reference back to Dean's books and programs. The success stories and the information Dean's provides us, motivates me each and every time I look at it
- Watch and rewatch Dean's past weekly video blogs. I continue to get inspired by Dean's enthusiasm, information and tips he provides. These blogs make you want to apply that knowledge and take action.
- Also, I view Dean's video blogs as a great source for coaching and motivation by a great mentor for us all to learn from, Dean himself.
- Join a local real estate investment club and network with others in your area
- Try to find an invetsment buddy as Dean discussed
- Try not to share "your excitment" with people close to you that may not understand. Sometimes other people do not want their family or friends to get hurt so they may be viewed as a "naysayer."

There is nothing wrong with having hope, a burning desire and an action plan for real estate. With knowledge and hard work it will happen, just give it a little time. Good luck with real estate investing and I look forward to reading about your progress and future deals! Believe and Achieve! Smiling - Joe

Thanks INDIANA JOE!!!!

Even if i have been having problems lately on the topic of what i want to do in life vs what my friends tell me what I should do in my life. My problem is that is a DREAM worth it to follow even at my age(21). My DREAMS are to follow my rock Music passion being a vocalist and rhythm Guitar player while being an entrepreneur and making that my full time job in the near future so i won't worry about financial security. My friends all tell me not to be stupid and go to college for the MBA for business to find a job that pays out more than 100k, but my guts and passionate heart are telling me otherwise. So now I'm stuck at a fork road because I am scared to make the next move based on my guts or friends advice. What do you think? I am more on the guts and heart side but i am paralyzed to make the next move because of fear. Thanks for the answers in advance and thanks Joe for this post. It helps a lot! Andrew

Andrew,

There is no right answer here and only you know what will truly make you happy. I know a lot of people that have the MBAs making over $100k per year but they do not have the time to enjoy their life. They are always working harder and harder to try to get to that next level. Some of these people even have second homes or vacation homes that they never even visit. Thus, making a lot of money will not create happiness. However, if you can make passive income and have your money work for you this will give you choices to pursue what you want in life.

I do like education because it gives you options. Benjamin Franklin said "the best investment you can make is in your education." Therefore, if you have the ability to get your MBA, maybe consider an excellerated program that meets on Saturdays or 1 or 2 nights a week. If you are in a position to complete a college degree, then I would say do it but also have a work/life/school balance for real estate and your music aspirations. The college degree or advanced degree will give you more options and the real estate investing can set you financially free. This will give you more time to pursue your music. I hope this helps. Whatever you believe is the best answer for you, is the best answer! Good luck with real estate investing. Believe and Achieve! Smiling - Joe

Joe,

You are SO right on with all your insight.
I read last week something that stuck in my mind: "Work to learn, not work to earn". It was in a recent awesome book I read by another highly successful investor. He says to make your money work for you (for your income), but keep on working/striving to learn and grow. It will make you that much better of a person and even more successful in life.

Thanks again, for all your words of wisdom!

Rina

Rina,

Thanks for the insight and additional comments. I remember back at Dean's Gain the E.D.G.E. 2009 event when Dean spoke about business today should consider the E.L.F. principle of being Easy, Lucrative and Fun! If you really enjoy what your doing and you learn and become good at what your doing the money should follow. One of the keys to becoming financially free is to have your passive income (say from real estate investing) exceed your earned income that you receive from working hard at a day job. When this happens, a whole need world of opportunties will become available to you. Believe and Achieve! Smiling - Joe

Thanks Joe

I must say that the hardest part of investing is just getting out of my own way. I think the more you know, can work to a disadvantage at the begining if you don't chunk it down. I used to think that I didn't need to write down my goals or my gratitude list, but after getting over myself, I have found it to be very helpful in progressing to the first deal. I learned a long time ago that fear stands for false evidence that appears real. It was one of the hardest things to do when I had to let people go from my life that were holding me back. You can't change anyone but yourself and hopefully that will inspire change in others who get to the great place called dissatisfaction. What a gem. It's sad to say but true that as humans we need to get to pretty low places before we take action. The whole pain pleasure concept. I hope with your inspiration and this great site and Dean's leadership, we don't all have to wait to hit bottom before we take the action steps to change our lives. It is so obvious to me that all these concepts work and how lucky are we to have all of this information at our finger tips. Looking forward to the conference call Wednesday night and a successful future. Mary-Ellen

Mary-Ellen,

Thanks for the additional comments and insight. You bring up several additional good points. I believe people have to do what will work best for them and their situation. Everyone is different and has a different need and motivation. The DG website and the next conference call will give members more motivation to take action to move closer to that next level. Good luck with real estate investing. Believe and Achieve! Smiling - Joe

My Island Investment,

Thanks for your comments. As long as we each can identify areas of improvement we know where we can concentrate our efforts. If you need more work in communication than try to set some goals to achieve each week that makes you more comfortable in what you do. Before long you will be communicating like a pro. Good luck with real estate investing and never let anything hold you back! Believe and Achieve! Smiling - Joe
