Hey DG members, i just got off the phone with a RE agent in my area (and i know shes one of the most popular). I asked her simply about RE clubs in our area, and she told me that there are NONE, and this was not worth chasing etc.. She mentioned how she has over 20 years with RE bla bla, and cut me off short. So i went on-line, and within 10 minutes found a club about 12 miles from my house lol, with over 1000 members. Need i say more, Mike in ct..

Hey Bariafl your welcome, its a basic question and i thought id get an honest reply from that REA that lives just several miles from me, and been in town over 20 yrs.. mike
Trust your instinct. Many times the people you ask don't have the answers you seek, but that shouldn't stop you, just look elsewhere until you're satisfied with the answer you seek.
I asked a realtor I worked in the same office with for over a year "How do you buy with NO money down?" She always told me that you couldn't. Now I knew the answer was out there somewhere, because other people WERE doing it.
So I just kept looking until I found it. Which was through all the books, webinars, seminars and training I received. Good thing I did!!
So always follow your gut, heart, or head. Whichever is loudest.... lol.

Psalms 118:23 "This is the LORD's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes."
That's good that you did your due diligence and researched it for yourself.
Sounds like you found a good club.

Sounds like this agent just wanted you all to herself. Get youself to the club and find some honest people who will work with you. Ask around, sometimes word of mouth can be the best way to find what you are looking for.

Hey thanks for your responses your right, always explore the options.mike
It's also easy to go to REMAX.com and look at the profile of agents in your area. It will tell you how long they have been licensed, as well as what some of their specialties are.
Be careful though. I usually call about 15 to 20 at a time, and even amongst the ones who say they are specialized in investments, there are quite a few who are actually not, and i think they are just trying to get some business from it. Make sure you interview them as well to make sure they can walk the walk, not just post their expertise online.
Hey Greg, than for the great tip, i will try that for sure, mike.
In building my buyers list, I have been told of 2 REI Clubs that I never heard of! I wrote both of them down, then researched the clubs online to find out where and when they meet. It seems that most REI clubs charge a fee to attend. Its worth it if your making contacts and building your team.

Don't forget to check out REIA clubs under Dean's general tab. It's nice having a local DGer watching your back.
Does any one know of any REI clubs in the Atlanta area.

I did a google search with "REI clubs in Atlanta, Ga." and saw a few. Try this.

Hi I thought I would send a note your way on your journal. Since you were mentioning REI clubs. I have to actually laugh about it now. I did a search online and called the only one that came up in my area. You know what he told me is that he moved away and one of the reasons was the market wasn't good in this area. Well I didn't let that stop me. I ended up going to a free workshop on real estate and anyway I met a couple there that had started a club. And we have some DG members that are in this club that are doing well. And hopefully soon all of Dean's members will be doing well.
So a couple things here don't give up; There are so many ways to find a club or start your own. It sounds like the RE agent and the investor I spoke to should get together.
Take care;
I wish you all the best,
and many blessings to you,
Cathy
You can find an REI club in your area by visiting http://www.meetup.com/
For topic or interest type in Real Estate Investing and then your zip. This will give you all of the REI meetings in your area.
Good Luck!
PS. The Agent did not want you to know about the group because she is afraid that you will steal her buyers! Believe me most Agents are intimidated by Wholesalers (not all of them) but a majority of them
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10
