Gain the EDGE 10 - Buddy Brainstorming!

Well Joe, I got back to Queens NY around 9pm last night, although I want to implement everything I learned, I decided to wholesale a deal first, Well I was at the EDGE still on Sunday, I spoke to Lea who is working with me on a deal in Florida. She and Denny have been my eyes on a property I want. After sitting with Rina I realized I need to find a bank that will refi me at FMV and maybe up to 3 months seasoning, and not use the price I bought it at as the marker. So Lea is working on that for me. I have so much to do but have made a list of steps for each deal I have going as dean suggested.
So I have 2 things in the works and a SS that I need to check up on . Things are a little clearer for me after the EDGE.
It was also great meeting all the dgers face to face and Dean and his family.
He and his wife were very nice and they are blessed with a beautiful little girl.
I actually gave Dean 2 different letters I wrote that he inspired me to write a while ago that i hand out at rei meetings and to potential cash partners. I kinda felt emmbarrased at first but then he just looked at me and said im going to read them, i didnt feel so silly giving them to him after that.

Richie, Writing Dean 2 Letters! That is awesome. I felt the same way when I first met Dean, What do I say?! He is so approachable and easy to talk to that I ended up telling him a Boot Camp story related to Drill INstructor "Tough Love".

I had a great time at The EDGE and I am absolutely going next year. I can't wait for June 14th, that is the day I begin to work with Matt Larson FULL TIME. I don't mean to be boasting at all by telling everyone that, I just want everyone to know of the possibilities that ARE out there.

Chad Merrihew gave a great presentation on perseverance and that fact that while he was loosing money in Real Estate someone still believed in him to make things happen.

You just got a believe in yourself and great things will happen.

Joe and Stacey your presentation was amazing and I plan to implement your ideas. Thanks for a great presentaiton, what a great conference! I have learned soo much from the event I feel like there is no time to tackle everything, so baby steps and stick to my action items and systems.. I agree networking was amazing! soo many people so little time...I really feel like a family, home away from home! Richie, what a great idea to put your words into letters...talk soon. and I do belive he will read the letters.

I find it fascinating that I am posting heavily on DG.com after the event. The folks I met, who helped, and who just hung out with me was great! The ability to reach out and call people up in different parts of the country is just terrific! Anybody who thinks that Dean is not approachable has just NEVER MET HIM! This guy is absolutely approachable and willing to listen to you.

The main thrust of the presentations was to just take action. There was so much gold in there as well, but the persistent message was to just get out there and do it!

..It was great to meet you at this year's EDGE event. The event was tremendous and so many people continued to buzz about it even hours after it ended. Good luck with takign action with the property in Florida. With each potential deal you can learn more to help you with future deals. Richie ---Awesome on those 2 letters! You'll be breaking a deal with Lea in no time. I'm so thrilled for you that you are working together from afar!
Jake-what an amazing opportunity! I'm sure you are counting the days until June 14.

Just a couple of MANY take-aways:

"Get a Realtor on your Team" ----while this is obvious and has been drilled time and time again, to get up to warp speed on making offers and doing deals...it hit me in the face again (in a good way). Love the tip from Bill Rafferty of walking in at 9am Monday morning to an agency and knowing the most motivated agents that are on the ball will be there! I'm also a big fan of Matt's letter to agents in Dean's book. That really helped me the first time around in seeing who was serious and who would respond to a serious letter like that...I just need to get out more letters. I'm back on my search again, and can't wait to find a rockstar agent like Star!

"Stop being scared to walk into a bank" ----What to say and do on this helped me so much. Thanks to RINA!!! I plan to go to 3 banks next week (I have to get some other things in place in the next couple of days). I still believe for my situation that owner financing and sandwich lease options are my best route, but understanding what banks could serve my deals the best, and getting those in the mix will be critical and I will definitely get started in this arena. Not to mention, it can be dual purpose with REO Asset Managers too in meeting with them to see what they might have on the books while you are there.

I really enjoyed this event and meeting all the DGers. I think this was an awesome idea to start this post, there were so many newbies that told me they were going to hop on-line. (Well they told me they look at all the post all the time, but they just never post.)

There is nothing to be afraid of, think of it this way... if you just put your foot forward and come on-line, who cares if you ask the question wrong, or say something silly.....It is a practice run, by coming out here and talking, it will help you to not be so afraid when you go out there to meet your realtor, your banker, etc.... See, that is what family is for.

It was such a wonderful event and I loved meeting everyone. The energy was so high I had a hard time prying myself away to drive home. I gathered many business cards, and yet I'm sure there are some people that got away! Don't worry, I will find you here!

I already started on my to-do list, which is working on getting funding so I can move forward while waiting for my first flip to sell. I forgot how long and involved loan applications are, but I am exploring hard money loans and then I will work on finding banks that will re-fi. I just want all the possibilities to be in place. I finally opened a business account in my LLC name!

...Thanks for the additional insight and comemnts. Too often in life some people let fear or uncertainty hold them back. The real question becomes what are they truly afraid of? Unfortunately, fear can be one of those things to keep people where they are at rather than getting ahead and goign to where they want to be. First I must confess, I did ask Rina when we first got to Az What type of guy you was. When i say this I mean I have met people with your intelligence, But in know way were they down to earth like you and Stacy. I really wish I could have spent more time with you two but I know that will come in the future. Even with Jet lag and being behind I did stay up and read your new book last night. Most of it twice. I was really amazed at all the great info. I have never sold anything on E bay and have always wanted to. So in closing I will add we will be one of your successful students. How can I go wrong with your knowledge and me being a man of action. THANKS for everything.

I just really don't know what to say. THe event was amazing and there were so many new people. It shocked me that many had just bought Dean's book(s) just 1-2 weeks prior to event and made it to the Edge. There were also a variety of ages from young to older. That's another thing people overcame. You are never too old or too young to learn these techniques or build a business. I appreciate the time I had to speak to the both of you, Joe and Stacey.

Richie: I don't think I really talked to you much and didn't meet you until on the way to go home; my loss for sure. It's great that you wrote the 2 letters and I do see your posts on many journals. I agree with Louisa all the way.

I'll be honest I didn't know Jake was going to work for Matt until this event. Now I feel like I've got double trouble with the team of Matt and Jake. Not really. It was nice to talk with the both of them when I had the chance.

Also to add to the string of knowledge here. Jake and I talked about this is blocking time. Making sure you set a schedule, concrete time for all parts of your life but especially the REI; that is what I'm working on this week. Because time has already slipped by and I didn't get done as much as I wanted.

Hey Cathy, I am sorry we didnt get to talk at the edge, I tried to meet as many people as possible,but missed alot of people. I think next year Dean should look into having on line names put on the passes for all the dgers attending,and maybe a different color pass . That will help us know who is who.
I would take it as a possitive to have Jake and Matt working in your neck of the woods, If you get something under contract you can network with them to
keep in touch.

...I like the idea of our DG user id on-line names on our EDGE Badges. So often I would recognize people by their user name rather than their actual name when we started to talk. I also like the idea of Gain the EDGE Alumni on the Badge. Maybe these badges could be a different color or list the year yo uattended something to the effect of....."EDGE Attendee Since 2009". Joe & Stacy you guys were the first to greet me when I walked through the doors of the resort. I will never forget the glow on your faces and the gleam in your eyes. It is so nice to see that you two are dedicated to doing this together. Many of us had our spouses with us and though they support us it is not the same as them joining us. You two have it going on and it's awesome!!!

Stacey and I really enjoy doing real estate together as we spoke to countless couples that did not have the support or even the full support of their spouses. We really enjoyed speaking with so many DG members at the EDGE and were flattered that several came up to us after our presenation to thank us for getting their spouse on board.
