Congratulations Rob. I can relate to what your saying. The action you take now though is what pays off later. It's been painstakingly slow on my starting but after re-reading the books, coming to this web site and read everything you can, it all starts to mesh. Your whole thinking evolves to a REI mean green machine.. It will happen in it's due coarse but just do something every day related to Real Estate. The journal is a great way to start. Invest a lot of time on this site learning everything you can.
Baby steps count and measure up.

Congratulations on climbing that first step. Getting started is the hardest step. It is so easy to make moutains out of mole hills and thinking something is way harder than it actually is.
I plan on using my journal also to keep me focused and on the right track. Just logging in daily and writing about what we have done will keep us moving foward. I have a suggestion for you also. Post your goals in your journal. Go back over the goal setting stuff in Barm and be specific. I am working on a 1 year, and 5 year set of goals. Then at the beginning of each month a monthly goal list to help keep me on track and focused.
I just want to scream, jump up and down, and dance. I am so excited just having a plan for the future make me believe and makes the negative things seem minor compared to the big picture. Example: Like making a million dollars in the next five years seems unatainable, unbelievable, and unrealistic (for me anyway). How could I posibly do that???? How could I even make 1 million in sucha short time???
Having goals and a schedule makes it belieable. I can do this little step here and that one too. Doing the little steps(goals) will lead to the big ones.
I can and WILL reach my goals, Rob, so I know you can. Focus on the little now(not tomorrow but NOW) steps and you will get there.

Keep going dude. As long as you are a little more comfortable or feel you've gained a little more knowledge than what you had yesterday, then you're on your way. A little something everyday, real estate related, is better than waiting until tomorrow. Keep pushing!

Hi everyone,just starting this journal to keep me focused and on track.I started this morning going backwards in a good way for once with dean and jeffs 12/22/09 conference call, wow just to hear the knowledge flying around on this site is awesome. i feel keeping this journal will keep me motivated if for no other reason than i'll have to come to this site daily to use it.thanks everyone for your encouragement and knowledge. rob

it seems i'm in uncharted waters here since i have a hard time accomplishing anything so i'm a little scared but very exited too.thanks fred for suggesting i also keep a record of my accomplishments since starting this journal is not only a way to stay focused but also a way to track progress,because everyone needs to feel good about themselves.today i've done more reading in barm on goals.i have made some goals that may be a stretch,but attainable none the less as long as i stay dedicated and focused.i've made goals that compliment each other however i had to adjust some numbers to make the short term and long term goals coincide.tonight i'm going to finish doing the positive and negatives answers that they talk about in barm and second for this weekend is researching which phone service to use.i've decided i'm going to concentrate on a buyers list first since it seems easier to find houses than money lol.rob

I am now rereading and going stsp by step, No one can stop you but you keep up the good works I 'm following up your progress because let's see who will get there first you OR I remember we are going to do one thing in RE everyday to get there.congrats again Rob

I know how you feel, to be honest with you I felt the same way in the beginning, but what I found was that I was actually became more afraid of staying the same. The thought of being broke 5, 10, 20 years from now if I kept doing the things that I had done for a decade that got me the results of being broke was not an option. I got so sick and tired of being pushed around that something just snapped! And I have never looked back. Take action! Fall down, make mistakes, get hurt, and then get back up and do it again, and again. That process has made me a millionaire in a short amount of time. I was willing to make mistakes faster than anyone I had ever met. Chase down your dreams, climb mountains, and get out on the waves! A good sailor is never made on calm seas!

you're right,you have to get your feet wet to learn how to swim.i have to say i'm very excited to just be moving forward and it really feels alot better than the thought of spending one more insecure year being broke.i feel like i have the tools now,i feel like my future is as bright as i want it to be and i have a heck of an imagination haha.with deans books,blogs,this journal and the dg family the only way i can lose is to give up,and how can i do that when my future's so bright?thank you all,rob

You have already taken the first step by starting your journal. That is AWESOME!! If I could give you advice it would be .... DO IT AFRAID! Everyone is afraid the first time they start something new. But in order to get to the "good fruit" especially when your starving, you have to be brave enough to climb out on the limb and get the fruit. If not your going to starve to death! I climbed that limb because my family was starving to death and if I did not climb out they would continue to starve. I was scared to death but I edged out a little bit at a time until I could reach the fruit. And ohhhh the fruit was GOOD! Now after much practice and education I am able to lasso that branch and bring it down to me.

Get the point? JUST DO IT AFRAID!!!

thanks carol,that's one of my favorite sayings(don't be afraid to go out on a limb,that's where the fruit is).i really appreciate your statement,do it afraid.i've submitted a couple of offers and tried to go by a what's the worst that could happen scenario.i'm still afraid but excited too. i really look forward to this year,the year of success!!

hi matt,i have a question for you since you and star are basically the originators of the 25-1 strategy.my wife has recently gotten her r.e.licsence for md. where we currently live.i'll be investing in this area since it's where i currently live,however my main target area is in n.c.where i used to live and wish to return.my question is this,when i talked to her about doing a 25-1 strategy by making verbal or email offers whenever possible as the book says,she told me that by law all offers are to include all diclosures signed.she says this be able to be done online but all offers need to be signed.this is in md. but i don't know about n.c.any help you or star could give on this subject would be much appreciated.rob
