eBay and Craigslist provide us with another opportunity!.....
We owe Dean a tremendous amount of gratitude for what his books and programs have done for our lives. Dean provided the information and knowledge to get us on a path of success with real estate investing. He gave us that burning desire to have hope again in the American Dream and to succeed with real estate. Dean’s passion and desire to help people succeed is very contagious.
Recently, we had a great conversation with Dean about real estate investing and making a difference in our communities by helping people. We admire what Dean has done and is currently doing to help people succeed with Real Estate Investing. It is amazing how many lives Dean has helped and the ripple effect of countless lives and families that are better off today than yesterday.
We discussed with Dean how Stacey and I were having success with buying and selling other "stuff" on eBay and Craigslist and making some really good extra money for nearly the past 11 years. Our formula for success is very simple, we BUY LOCAL on Craigslist and then SELL GLOBAL on eBay.
Not only can you make money but you can also save money too! Dean was so impressed by what we were doing with eBay and Craigslist, that he suggested we share this with the DG Family!
Stacey and I are so delighted to share this information with you because it can truly make a difference in your life. I always loved business and enjoyed reading about successful entrepreneurs. How they started a business and built that business was fascinating to me. In April 1999, I heard about these “dot.com companies” called Craigslist and eBay and I wanted to find out what they were all about. I knew a friend that was running a business on the internet while I went to work each day. I would ask him when he was going to get a real job and he stated that he was making too much money from home selling Star Wars Action figures. I asked him if he was selling them at the local collectible shows and he stated: “No, I have a worldwide marketplace.” This was fascinating to me so I asked him to explain and that was my first introduction to eBay.
This was very exciting to me especially I saw the amount of business my friend was doing. I went home later that night and talked to Stacey about this “eBay thing”. Stacey and I were going to the local movie theater but before we left, I setup an account on eBay and listed a Disney Animal Kingdom backpack on an eBay auction. The backpack was still new and in great shape but was just sitting on a shelf in my closet. I bought it on sale the year prior at Disney World for only $5.00. A few hours later when I got home the price was bid up to $15.00. I could not believe how easy this was. I sold that pack back for $22.00 and this was my start on eBay. I looked to see what else I could sell and sell we did. For the past 11 years we have been selling on eBay. We have a simple system, buy Local on Craigslist and sell Global on eBay!
It is just that easy! I want to share this with all of you because I believe real estate investing is the fastest way to build wealth. In addition to real estate, you can also make some extra CASH TODAY with Craigslist and eBay. If you need a few extra bucks today, eBay and Craigslist can give you an extra $100 per week or even a few thousand a month!
Why I want to share this with you is because I know there are so many people out there that an extra $100 a week or a few thousand a month could make all the difference in the world for you!
Over time this extra cash can add up to help you with your real estate investing or take some pressure off you today with your current bills and let you open your mind as you read Dean’s books. I know you can succeed in real estate and I know you can have success with Craigslist and eBay too! There are even real estate opportunities on Craigslist and eBay. Thus, once you get started with Craigslist and eBay you won’t stop and who knows what can happen?
I have also found the Craigslist and eBay business is so similar to real estate Investing; from building buyer's lists, to posting “bandit” signs to finding great deals! Today, Stacey and I are active real estate investors and real estate is our #1 passion! However, we also keep up with Craigslist and eBay. Stacey has really enjoyed the business and still has so much fun today with it. Stacey believes one of the greatest advantages of the eBay and Craigslist business is you can work on this business any time of the day or night. So it is a perfect opportunity with flexible hours for anyone that has a few hours a week to make some extra "cold hard" cash.
I hope you can open your mind and free some of the “cash today” worries through an opportunity like Craigslist and eBay can provide to you. By listing some of your unwanted "stuff" you can make a little cash today which might help you make a lot of cash tomorrow with real estate! I know you can do it! Have often do you guys sell homes on EBAY? They do have fees for listing real estate and I think its a little over 100 bucks. Has it always been worth it in your case to still post it on ebay? I want to post homes that I have under contract on EBAY but would feel more confident if I heard it from someone who has done it before.
There are endless possibilities. Since I have been running into so many roadblocks with the things I have been trying, I believe I now have the ticket that will lead to my success.
Yes, it is true that you can control your destiny. I really believe it comes down to how bad you want success and will you sacrifice time and effort, learn what you need to succeed, then go out there and apply what you learn by taking action.
I believe anyone can succeed in real estate if you first and foremost believe you can. Focus on one thing like wholesaling - being a bird dog, doing assignments or double closes. If you need cash to make earnest money deposits, clear the clutter in your home and look for things you no longer need and might be able to sell.
Often we would find items locally through Craigslist and sell those items globally through Ebay. This could be a great way to make some cash from Ebay and Craigslist and then you roll it into a real estate deal where the profits can be even greater. Thank you so much for your reply. You have no idea how much that means to me. I just feel stuck until I can get a smartphone and learn how to use it to take the pictures of the things I want to sell. I have plans to turn my guest room into my online eBay boutique. Really, I need the smartphone sooner rather than later and I am thinking I-phone. What kind of phone do you use? What do you reccomend?
We have not sold any homes on Ebay but have sold many other items. Often you can build a customer list and network with your customers. I would say to try it to see how much exposure and potential there is. I often thinka about the great real estate deals in certain areas of the country. You can find a starter home in New York or Southern California for around $400,000. Then you find similar starter homes around the country for under $100,000. Thus, if you have a great real estate deal you may be able to find and network with buyers in the more pricier areas of the country.

You can use a smart phone like an I-phone, Blackberry or Droid to take photo. These can work fine. You can also use a digital camera or a scanner. The phone and camera would probably be the best. Always have good lighting to take the best photos possible. Start small with a few things and see what may be the most popular and sell from their. Do not let having a smart phone stop you. Even if a friend can help you to start and you can then have a little cash to buy your own equipment. Good luck. You can do it! Believe and Achieve!

Perfect. I know a couple of guys that might just be the ones to help me with that. They are father and son and he just lost his wife to cancer. This might help him to keep his mind busy if he feels up to it and I know he does the eBay stuff. I did register and have access to eBay today so I can try to familiarize myself with it. I have to start in order to get anywhere. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this thread and keep up with it. I am going to see a property which is a short sale.
The asking price is $160K initial List price: $195,000
Year built : 1992
2 BR 2BTH
Some renovation done very recently.
somebody is renting it.
If I have to make an offer how much offer should I put.
Also a realtor is going to show me this property.
Any info or suggestion will help.

You posted this thread 5 years ago, and I want to ask you if it is still good to utilize those two systems to sell your stuffs. I know we still talk about Craigslist a lot during the RE education, and how about eBay nowadays?

For real estate, Craigslist has proven to be a better tool than Ebay. I often say try different things in your area and see what you might have the most luck. with.
