BRAIN FARTS

BRAIN FARTS

Have you ever come up with thought provocative ideas while driving your car, or while doing some chore? Ideas that, if acted upon, may have created you more time, more pleasure, or even more wealth. I call them "brain farts." Everyday I have brain farts concerning my real estate investment career. I even wake up in the middle of the night and have to record them on a dictation machine before I am able to go back to sleep.

I intend to share my thoughts with you. You may swipe them and incorporate them in your investment career any way you see fit.

Today's Brain Fart has to do with what I noticed while driving on a busy interstate during rush hour.

Why is it, people stress themselves out going to their 9 to 5 each and every morning? I see them putting their lives at stake while trying to maneuver through a maze moving bump cars. I wonder what would happen if you asked your boss if you could change your work hours from 9 to 5, to 10 or 11 until 6 or 7. I know some companies allow flex time, but most don't. What if you worked from home during rush hour and then made the long journey to the office after rush hour? What if you worked from home "X" number of days during the week and reported to work on "Y" days of the week? These actions may help eliminate the wasteful use on gas and cut down on pollution. These action would help prevent needless deaths due to accidents.

What if....what if...

The point is, you never know unless you ask. Don't let current conditions dictate your future. Take action now and determine your own outcomes.

My thoughts for today. I hope they were of some help.

Good point...

Most people don't even consider the environment around them nor take the time to assess what is going on with them at the moment. unfortunately, this is the way of life in America as not only does it happen on the East Coast, but rather all through America. It is sad really, but that is how we Americans are condition for financial dependence.

Successful in MD you have the most unusual post headings...lol! Smiling I love it!

Putting your ideas on paper is a good habit to create. I am always thinking outside the box and coming up with ideas for my REI career. Your right in that if you don't write them down you will inevitably lose valuable info once your brain starts working on something else.... Smiling

Hey, True

Come on and share your Brain Farts here. We would love to hear them.

Dont Forget!

DGers, dont forget whos given you everything good in your life, it may be a little, or maybe a lot!! Gives thanks everyday to our creator God, and through his son Jesus we can do anything.. Believe me, appreciate what you have, because in a moment, a single breath, it can be taken away. Mike

Hey Mike,

You are 100% correct.
Ask me how I know, and I'll Tell you so......

I'm blessed because I have a loving and supportive family, friends, and the DG family.

I'm blessed because he had the foresight to teach me what I need to know in order to succeed regardless of my present situation. I can recover with what I have before me.

I'm bless because I am surrounded with people such as yourself.

Thanks for being you.

Tell Me..

Hey LJ, please share your story, and thank you, and back at you, mike.

Hey, True

I just couldn't believe the business concept that I was trying to pursue about 5 years ago came into reality. Not by me, but by other business brains who have more resources than me. I just found the whole picture today when my wife showed me a brochure containing my concept. I could have done this first 5 years ago, but when I called my brother (Software architect/Programer) to develope a software for that concept, and he refused. He refused because he said he already love his JOB and have no time doing the business with me.

My heart broked, my eyes was filled with uncontrollable tears today. It was a "Brain Fart" that started while I was lying in my basement 5 years ago, i'm so motivated to do. That's all about it.

Moral lesson: Whatever business concept, Marketing concept, management concept, etc. you have in mind, do it right away. We are in a fast lane. LA

My Story

I will be glad to share my story with all those that partner with me. One of my goals is to help as many people as possible this year--part of which is to demonstrate how we can "Reclaim what was ours, mainly our neighborhoods"

Big dreams, Big Ideas. But if you followed my journals you will see that I have always advocated to think BIG, Think MASSIVE, think OUTRAGEOUS!Laughing out loud

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who has them

Glad to see that I'm not the only one that has these moments. I have pads of paper all over my house to write ideas in and I have a digital recorder in my car for when I am driving.

Gotta love it!

(I love this thread/conversation! lol)

I think/dream stuff all the time at night. I might not always have a fresh notepad next to my bed, but you'd better believe I find SOMETHING to scribble on in the dark. Sometimes I have to decipher what I wrote in the morning cause I was half-asleep when I did it, but that's where some of the greatest thoughts/ideas come into my head! Smiling (Or else I just can't sleep at all and come on here to find DG friends in the wee hours to brainstorm with! lol)

If somebody thinks you're crazy, Woohoo!!, find someone who doesn't to share your dreams with. ha!

You guys are awesome!

The rat race relative to the job is one thing, but the attitude of people on the job is another. Whether it is 9-5, 10-6 or 11-7, the rat is always on the go. Society dictates that we pay bills, rent, or mortgage, if not we live on the streets. Thanks God when he allows us to work to secure, food, shelter and a place to lay our head. We have to devise ways of working smarter and not harder, hence the establishment of our real estate investing career. Maybe with our new career, the rat will slow down a little. God Bless.

Innovation and Creativity Are Key

Sandra, you hit it today's topic dead on -- getting out of the rat race and sub-coming to what society dictates

And that is --- Innovation, Creativity, and ACTION

As so many have experienced, you may have a BRAIN FART that is worth million;however, if action is not applied, it was just that--a fart that lingered on someone's mind for a while.

Creativity without ACTION is a waste of mind power.

I've had several ideas in the past that was worth $$$$$. I relied on trusted friends and family to help implement this dream. However, their dream was not the same as mine. Therefore, it never got done.

I recall when I was a Principal Analyst working for NASA one APOLLO mission, a bug was detected in the software that was being downloaded from the spacecraft. A decision was made that someone had to make an real time online decision in order to help with the mission. That person was me. I was allowed to type in an instruction on the large main frame computer that would help save a portion of the mission. I typed in ONE instruction and that portion of the mission was saved. I didn't hesitate. I didn't wait for other to over analyze the situation. I knew what the problem was, took corrective action, and JUST DID IT once I received permission from mission control.

I JUST DID IT!!!!

This experience reminds me that you will never get what you want unless you JUST DO IT. Take action.

Today's economic conditions provides us with many opportunities to create massive wealth. Some of you will stand back and do nothing, some will take action and do whatever it takes to accomplish your dreams, and the remainder of you will be wondering what happened, 10 years from now.

Open your eyes NOW! READ all the negativity in the papers. Those who innovate and create new, fresh ideas that benefit the masses, will become rich beyond their wildest dreams. It may not be monetary riches, but the fact that you are helping so many achieve their hopes and inspirations is wealth in itself.

think about ...

How can I turn negativity into something POSITIVE?

What if I just do this one thing today, another tomorrow, and so forth. Within a month you will accomplish 30 new things.

How will what I am doing, benefit the most?

and, lastly

By me creating solutions to help others with the same mindset, with the same dreams and desire, will my efforts help me reach my goals and aspirations?

I hope this BRAIN FART got you thinking a little differently.

Until next time, SUCCESS BE A LADY TONIGHT.

P.S.

You'll be sorry if you miss the invitation I put out about "VOLUNTEERS NEEDED IN SEVERAL STATES." At least listen to the first conference call and see what it's all about.

Don't Forget!

Hey Mike,

Right On!!! I wish to add one extra bonus thought here. As you and many others that visit here on Dean's site know....We are all called to give thanks to HIM, our Divine Creator for ALL THINGS. This would include both what we have and WHAT WE DON'T HAVE.
(think about it!)

Now, go HELP some people and when you help enough of them you will be FILTHY STINKING RICH.

John

I feel a little out of place

I feel a little out of place here, but I have never been one to stay hidden. I love the topic, and especially the praise that is due to the greatest investor of all. He has put an investment into each of his creatures. I don't intend to waste this gift. I have come from living on the streets with my own demons trying to drag me back to a life not worth living to having a decent job, a wife who is just crazy awesome, a family who are incredibly giving, and a son who while being a complete challenge is the best gift I have been given. I know what it's like to sleep in the cold, cold outside with nowhere to go so I am thankful to have the apartment I rent, wake up on a weekend morning, have a cup of coffee and start wrestling with my kid. That was only a dream to me back in the day. Now it is a reality. Now I have new dreams and with the grace of God, and the help of all of you they will become a reality as well. Thanks for the posts everyone.

Richard,
Take the first nine words out of your post and get them out of your head starting today. Then it begins: "I have never been one to stay hidden" Smiling Good! Post more often and you will feel like one of the gang before you know it! I love your story and good luck with those demons, they show up for all of us from time to time!

Smell This One...

I can wholeheartedly agree with everyone in this thread; I have many examples of how when I DON'T have a conversation with God multiple times a day, things go from frazzled to completely unraveled...but I digress ^_^

A good buddy of mine once told me he no longer wears watches because of the nervous/anxious/worrying that keeping time and measuring time often creates. Now it's always good to stay punctual, but I adopted this as a practice as well. Now, he's not the most health conscious person I know, but I believe he has a good bead on this:

Create and live a lifesyle that increases freedom at the expense of worry and start punching your own clock. Family and living our lives to the fullest are too important to stay beholden to any corporation that does not share these values.

Let's call it the Anti-Rat Race or something, lol!

Love the Posts

Love the posts, which leads me to today's BRAIN FART.

A wise man once said "What products and services may I provide you." That man was Earl Nightingale.

We were all placed here on earth to serve a purpose. That purpose is to serve GOD's will and the services of our fellow men and women. People and GOD created creatures first. We are not to worship material items but to serve those who are in need. Material items and wealth are GOD's reward to those who serve others. And he will reward you with abundance.

Keep this in mind when dealing with others. Treat them with the dignity and RESPECT every one desires. Never take advantage of anyone and they will not take advantage of you.

Believe in yourself as he believes in you.

Good thought

but i don't do rush hour, I have set myself up not to let work dictate when and where I go. But I worked for it, believe me!

Keep Your Mind in the Game

The difference between winners and losers are

1. Winners always stay focused on their desired results. They are distracted by "the next best thing" someone else presents. They have their own agenda and don't let outside forces distract from the bottom line. What's in it for me? Does it move me closer to my desired goal?

Earl Nightingale said it best, " A successful person is someone who is constantly moving toward their purposeful objective."

2. Loser wander aimlessly toward whatever crosses their path. They are easily distracted and have lost focus on what it was they were trying to achieve. They lack passion and desire.

You are a winner. Stay focused and always move toward your desired goal. Success is but one small step ahead.

Are we willing to go the extra mile?

Hi Sir,

your last post ties so perfectly with the last video posted by Dean. We have those who have won and continually win (The 1 %); we have those wandering aimlesly in a JOB working 925265 every day from nine-to-five until they retire 65. (those are the 95% group) and then we have those 4% willing to go the extra mile, going after that breaktrough with God's help to become part of the 1% winners.

Thank you for sharing your creative ideas and for being an encouragement to the DG Family.

Be Blessed,

Jose

Sat. Feb. 27 - Topic is Role Playing

Brain Fart (2/27) – Importance of Role Playing

When was the last time you role played?

I remember as a child growing up on the Jersey shores, I wanted to be a scuba diver like Lloyd Bridges who played in the daily adventure series “Sea Hunt.” I’m kind of dating myself here. Some of you are wondering, Sea Hunt? Google it and see what results you get. Anyhow, I would often dress the part by wearing a set of fins and goggles and often a straw to represent a snorkel. I would go to the beach and swim around searching for hidden treasures. I never really found anything of value, but occasionally I would find lose change someone dropped in the sand. Yes, there’s sand in Jersey for all you Cali’s and Floridians.

I would also pretend I was a doctor performing delicate operations with road kill. Sick, huh? I would venture out in the desserts (when I lived in Texas) in search of dangerous game (big game hunter.) The only game I usually came across was rattle snakes and rabbits which were still enjoyable.
I had quite an imagination. I could be anyone I imagined. To this day I'm still a kid at heart.

If we are to succeed in our investment endeavors’, we need to start role playing and think from the perspective of others. Put yourself in the shoes of a Professional real estate agent or broker. What are their mindset and more importantly, their objectives? Now put yourself in the shoes of the most productive real estate agent /broker. What are their objectives? What are they doing differently from the ordinary real estate agent/broker? Which would you rather be? Remember that money is not a true indicator of success.

Not to misquote Earl Nightingale, but “A successful person is one who is making constant progress toward achieving their meaningful purpose”

Remember to put yourself in the shoes of the people you are doing business with and how you may enhance or enrich their objectives. Success begets success. (I like that!)

Peace out. Here’s to your success in 2010. Set your sights high and just “GET-ER-DONE”, one step at a time!
