If EVERYONE here will fill out their profile info to include where you are and alittle about yourself it will help us all to network with each other.

Until this happens, DG admin can't group us by state.

Meanwhile you can try and locate other members by going to the "Main Sections" (top left)under REI Clubs/Groups and find your state and try to network.

So, make it easy and just fill out your profile info

If you have the SFL system

If you have the SFL system it is very easy to do. Just click on friends at the top, scroll down to advance search then for match click state or city then hit search it will list all that are on the SFL. Hope this helps.

I like your idea but it is unoperable currently because only about 20% of users on this website actually complete their profile. Either it is because they are scared of putting basic info on a website they join or they can't get into the midset of an investor. My wish would be mandatory fields be answered before you are issued an account.....then your concept would work.

Finding fellow DG members

Perhaps A thread/ blog could be made for each state so that members could log in or look to see who may be available if they want to venture out of their local area? It looks like there' s at least a half dozen DG "relatives" in Alaska. I just started looking but haven't found a local REI yet. I think it would be a great idea to have a mini DG family meet-and- greet . I'd be interested to hear what's being done successfully (or not) in my area.

I like your idea. I have SFL, but have problems with it, and even had friends try to help me with it. So I don't use it at all.
I have went under networking looking for a Wis person to work with, but haven't found anyone close by.
But I am from Wisconsin and would love to meet someone that really wants to work together.
And I am always willing to work with someone in another state.


I agree. It would make it so much easier. Maybe these ideas can come to fruition...Dean. We're in TX and we did post our profile info. As for the SFL, I don't think I've ever seen it. When was this offer posted??




SFL was offerred I think around August. It is an excellent program, but not sure if anyone can still get it.
I would call the Academy and ask if you can still purchase it.
It is well worth the money!

I put my state as part of my user name in hopes that I could find other people in my area to network with. I do have a question I am hoping someone can answer. I have been looking into software that I can load into my laptop so I can calculate the rehab cost while me and my partner are in the house.
Any suggestions on what software is good and accurate for calculating rehab cost in the state of Minnesota?
Any other suggestions regarding figuring out rehab cost?


What is SFL?


SFL=Set For Life; an automated program; it's a system that DG brought out for sale last year in September (?); you can sign up for it; I think there's a charge for set-up and then there's a monthly fee... the main appeal is that you can download a list of cash buyers by counties; there're many other features, like webpages for your sellers/buyers/investors, you can save names of your buyers, sellers, etc.etc. I personally think that it is a helpful tool for more advanced investors rather than for beginners, or for people with good computer software skills.

There are many ways to network...

I agree with helpme2's suggestion about Carol's National Wholesaling thread.

You can also search for your state in the search box (just type your state's name or abbreviation in the box and press enter)- I'm sure you can find fellow DG'ers from your state that have asked for help with deals that way. Then when you find them, just shoot them a PM.

Also, probably the easiest way to network with local DG members is to check the "REI Clubs / Groups" link on the left side of this page. There are lots of groups on there that have already been started that are made up of DG members that are itchin' to network. If you can't find your state, just start your own group. Then post a link to it on this or another thread, so people will know about it.

About mandatory profiles: Sometimes it takes a while for people to decide what to put in their profiles. Like what kind of properties they're looking for, etc. Also, it pays to be cautious. There is such a thing as having TMI about yourself posted all over the internet. (Anyone that's ever been tele-stalked by a total stranger would know what I mean...) Anyhow, there are too many ways to find whom and what you're looking for on this site to make profiles mandatory on sign-up.

I'd like a partner who can DO THE MATH while I scoped out the for sale by owner properties in the Sonoma county areas of Sonoma and Santa Rosa.
I'd also like to know from any of you that did your first "NO MONEY DOWN"
deal either for yourself or wanted to flip it, how you did it step by step.
Someone told me I couldn't do this business if I didn't know my numbers, is this correct?
And if so, why not still be in REI if a partner were the one with the mathamatical brains in the deals made. I figure I can complete other things
at the same time, couldn't I?
It would be nice to know in advance before I actually began looking for the FSBO'S in my areas of this county.
