Weekly Video Blog #131 - Are you Lucky?
May 29th, 2011 | posted by dgadmin
This week, school is out.
Not public school, that's still a few weeks away. But the school of "Dean." Yep, he's put away the marker and white board for this blog and is speaking from his heart.
WARNING: You're actually going to hear a "cuss word" (gasp!). But it's appropriate in this context.
So, please. Take 4 minutes and listen in - then pay close attention to the last 45 seconds of his message...

This is great
I hear people tell military enlisted people who make it home in one piece that they are lucky. No, that person who makes it home in one piece without a injury on the outside is still making life work it is NOT LUCK.
Nothing happens by luck except winning the lottery.
Blessed Memorial Day

Blessed
No such thing as luck, we create the magic!
Thinking about it some of these things we create ourselves. When bad things do happen we get through it move on, and grow...Have a fantastic week! Brenda Lee, Salida, Colorado.
All I can say is thank God
All I can say is thank God for placing you in my Life. He's putting my puzzle together and you are one of the pieces. Continue to be a light you are such a blessing to so many people.
Is it luck?
Heyya, Indy! I was inspired to post this as a reply to your post just because I was re-watching Edge 2010 and finished watching your presentation with Stacy, which stoked my coals again. After watching this blog I recalled a couple quotes I'd heard over the years, which I paraphrase here: "Luck is where opportunity meets preparedness." So with the same spirit one might engage to stoop over to pluck a four leaf clover, let's all who believe (yet might not yet have achieved), engage the DG family's teachings, support, systems, products and tools, and realize that's it's literally a "good luck machine" if you will (based on the previous quote). Simply put, real estate is the opportunity, DG is the preparedness. The other quote is a short paraphrase of Mother Theresa's "final analysis." "If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway!" This I feel succinctly belies the wisdom in learning to be, do and act free from the so-called good opinion of other people. This resonates with me simply because I've found one of my greatest challenges has been overcoming the tendency to base my self-worth on other people's opinions and desires... even worse, more often than not they were people dramatically underqualified to dictate what I'm capable of! What a relief to learn that I'm my own biggest obstacle... now I can really sit down and negotiate a win-win! I can then foresee my greatest successes flowing naturally. Peace, my friends! Yours, David
luck
People always talk about luck. What I think is, 20% of any body's success is luck and 80% is hard work.
THANKS DEAN
THANKS DEAN,do get offended, hay it is what it is let say what they want, because if that take action and the time just as u did, they could see the same results.thanks and have fun.
Lucky
Dean,
Again, thank you for the beautiful blog. I am called lucky by family members. When they call me lucky, I simply reply that I am not lucky, I just work hard to get where I am. I have a plan and continue to work towards my goals.

Lucky
Is not an entity unto itself, it comes as a result of an incident, occasion, necessity, attitude and determination to achieve ones goals. Usually could be as a result of things or opportunities granted with or without strings attached. If that is the case then someone could class themselves or others as being lucky. However, bad luck, I look at and clarify as challenges that arise and causes setbacks. It is not a reason to be lazy and dwell in self pity, but a learning experience to push even harder. Very interesting blog. Thanks Dean.
Lucky Lottery
I'm with Karen ... winning the lottery is truly luck. Life is not usually so generous in other areas. It's work, hard work, that lays a bounty on your plate and in your life. Thank you for the reminder, Dean.
Thanks Dean
Thanks for the words of wisdom. Instead of luck I call it blessed. To all Veterans on this Memorial Day.
Right On!
This is very much like the daily bit of wisdom I receive from Joel Osteen. I have heard people say that if they didn't have bad luck, they would have no luck at all. Actually, "Good Luck" is the outcome of proper commitment and effort. There is another saying that when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Each of us needs to answer for ourselves, "Am I going or getting going, or do I have bad luck!" I can tell that Dean is "going!" every time I listen to his blog or read his books and that is nothing compared to when you can talk to him in person!

You Lucky Dog .. but what's LUCK got to do with it???
Dean,
If only those people that rely on LUCK could see all that you have done...all that you are doing and all that you are going to do.
Thank you for doing the weekly blogs like this. They are so encouraging and enlightening. Please keep it up.
Remember, the sky is the limit,

So true, Dean !
Thanks for the encouragement to just keep moving forward no matter what ! Someone else also mentioned "taking the plunge" which also reminds of one of my favorite Disney movies, Finding Nemo, where I believe Dori says, "just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming, swimming" !!!
Another LUCKY day!
I figure if we work as hard as Dean works, we too can be an overnight success like he was - haha! Already this morning someone told me that all he needed was a 'break' in life, but he's not doing anything to MAKE that break happen.
Many people think that good things should just fall into their laps and that's why they assume that luck is involved when good things happen to other people. They don't see the hard work that we're willing to do.
One of the speakers at Edge 2011 said this quote, that we've probably all heard before but is worth repeating: "Successful people are those who are willing to do what other people would never dream of doing so they can have what other people only dream of having"
Lucky Smucky
I've been called lucky by friends and family because of my success in my J.O.B. Luck? I think not!! I have worked my tail off to get to where I am. Now I'm working my tail off to be a successful Real Estate Investor so I can get rid of that J.O.B. and live the life I want to live. Lucky twice? I think not. Successful twice? Heck yes!!
So True!
People will always have their opinion on how "lucky" you are to have a great life, a great family, a great career.... but I am not worried about their perception of what they may think is my Luck - and will be ready to respond to them with "You're right, I'm lucky that I decided to "act" and not THINK about my future!"
Have a great week, thanks for another great Blog!

You're On It Again Dean!
The truth of the matter is, It's Not Luck at All!
It's the Falling World we exist in which is all subject to change for us as individual's based on how we think.
As you stated Dean, in this life bad things are inevitable, but it's how we let the bad that has happen affect us based soley on how we have "Trained" our thinking. The key is "Trained Thinking", successful thinking will take work.
We absolutely control our world, not on what has happen, but what we are focusing on, and taking action on that make's the difference.
The action we take or don't take is based on how we Think. "Proper Thinking" really is the Key that causes us to Succeed, In Spite of What's Happening!
It's Faith, not Luck that unlocks the door".
I have so much more I could say on this matter.
Let me just recommend a book "The Master Key System" by Charles Haanel". It's a must read.
In fact, it reveals in my mind at least, why many of us don't reach our full God Given Potential and fail to live the life we say we want.
Thanks Again Dean!

Dean;
Love all your advice.wish I could afford To buy
more of your products,to help me with my dreams
in Real Estate. going through hardship,
Could you please use dark ink when you write
on white board. hard to see when you are blind,
God bless you!
"The harder I work, the
"The harder I work, the LUCKIER I get." I am too busy to care whether my success is from luck or hard work, I am only very thankful for the results I receive!
Luck...
I completely understand everything your saying in this one Dean. If we don't try anything new, how are we ever gonna test the cosmos or come to find we do deserve the best with Gods grace?? It's no "luck or bad luck"...and this is my opinion, it's a matter of properly aligning ourselves for things to be drawn our way and when they don't it's a lesson for us to grow.

LUCK
is for gamblers.
IF you know what you're doing and have learn how to do it, you'll be just fine.
DON'T gamble---Casinos ALWAYS win- that's why they stay in business and make ALOT of money by CHEATING people that have NOT learned that are greedy and looking to 'strike it rich'. Like playing the lottery. DREAMERS=.....

Luck
Thanks for the up beat message to keep us all going.
Just finished your book be a real estate millionaire.
Next step for me is to sign up for your class.
And get my finances in order.
Again thanks.
Thanks for the encouragement
Thanks for the encouragement and to remind us not to listen to the negative comments of others. They can sure make you feel bad. We have to get beyond their thinking and listen to our own.
Thanks for shooting straight
I am blessed. God is so good. I am listening to you, and I agree 100%. I am at a point in life where I have my hands full staying afloat. I have not been able to do what I know I need to do. I keep listening, and I know I will eventually get there. I just need to set some realistic goals, and start taking action.
Luck and Truth
Dean,
Once again you put it all into perspective and easy to understand.
Thank you!

Dean, what a powerful lesson! It is so true. Everyone thinks of luck when people are doing good. Winning the lottery is luck. No one sees the sweat and tears you put in. Like the saying goes and as you have also said before, people tend to do the same things over and over again, and expect their life to change. I tried your technique on someone who is close to me - the one about asking them how I will do in Real Estate. They gave me all the negatives, especially since they have gone through it before. This person is not me and I know I can make it. Some people think that they do not have the strength to do what you do, so they sit back and criticize. It takes all kinds to make a world. When I decide to do something, no one stops me. I will get into Real Estate, and I will make it big! God did not promise us sun without rain, joy without pain and the like. From time to time, there will be pain, and there will be rain. You ask every successful person, and they will tell you all the pain and rain and tears and sweat they had to do or were put through before making it big. Hang in there, Dean, things will certainly improve. I know you are already equipped to handle the bad things in your life. Life happens. Bad things will not stop happening to us until we leave this earth. We have to learn to deal with them and as you said, take them as life's lessons, even when we do not know the lesson yet. Later on, you will see what the lesson was trying to teach you. It has happened to me many times. Enjoy your day.

another Lesson Learned
Moments in life teach us valuable lessons about what we like and dislike. Regardless of what happens, there is a lesson to be learned.
I've suffered a bunch of crap and I definitely know some of the things I certainly dislike. At the same token, I've kept my eyes and ears open to also learn lessons from these incidents.
Look. stuff may or may not happen. However, as Dean mentioned, it's not going to stop me from achieving my dreams. Your dreams are your own and controlled by you alone. "Forget" the nay sayers and shot for the stars. No one is stopping you but yourself.

Luck
I never really believed much in luck i know things happen for a reason.Well i always try to make the best of it and follow threw, but after listen to dean and his words of inspiration it makes me think and yes i have tried to think about the positive and not the negativity in life and it helps i get stressed, but i never let it get to me I really want to succeed in real estate and get that first deal i don't give up that easy and i'm going to keep pushing forward to succession. That's my goal and thanks dean!
