Dean Graziosi Weekly Video Blog #98 - The 2nd Part of the Challenge from Last Week

Dean Graziosi Weekly Video Blog

So, did you take Dean up on his "news" diet
challenge from last week? If so, how'd you do?

Was it tough for you or no big deal?

We want to hear from you, so post your experiences
below. But before you do, watch this week's video
to see what causes Dean to get all "goosebumpy"
after he reveals part two of the challenge.

I think you're gonna like it.

no news is good news

I expect the staying away from the negative people and conversations will help my thought life. I thought trying to stay around positive people would help as well. Hmm. I wonder where they are? Just kidding!^^

Part 2

laurajohnson's picture

Well, part one I've been practicing in my life for quite some time now. But thank you for the reminder of part two! I am the positive thinker type, but its so easy to get caught up in the drama and negativity of others, its sucks you in before you realize it sometimes. So while I probably cant avoid negative people, I can certainly avoid participating in and fueling negative conversations. So I'm glad to have this reminder to focus on either just keeping my mouth shut, or returning a negative with a positive!

Video Blog #98

Never a disappointment Dean Smiling Thank you once again for the motivational challenge! No news for two weeks(Piece of cake), no negative conversations(ok, it's doable), but, remembering to be greatful before speaking of anything negative(well...I am working on it)!!! Thank you again for all that you do and share with us, Joe.

Part 2 of the Challenge

Ritthea's picture

Good Morning Dean and the DG family!
I can't began to tell you the difference your challenge has made at the work place. I've always tried to focus on positive things and thoughts, but there was always that one person who constantly had something negative to say. When that person came in the office and started with the negative, I through up my "POSITIVE SHIELD" and said three positive things to him. By the time he left my office his mind set was in a different place. It feels good not allowing others to DUMP their negative on me, but the best feeling of all was knowing that I helped him think positive!

Part 2 challenge

I totally agree, being in a negative environment does absolutely nothing for you but bring you down to their level. I feel so good when I wake up now having some direction and road map of what I want in life and focusing on the positive things in life makes me feel like I have a purpose in life instead of doing the same old negative things every day.

Challenge #1 and #2

Right after accepting the challenge last monday not but a few hours later THE BAD NEWS was forced on me in my theater class when all of a sudden my professor starting playing horrible news clips. Immediately recognizing this I told myself that this was going to be difficult challenge seeing how so much of society wants you to focus on the things that we shouldn't. I know that this is going to be a challenge but like all things being hard at first and then becoming like second nature once you master the task. I love my new life of possibilities, it truly has transformed once I started being grateful for the things that have come into my life. This program being one of them and I thank God everyday that I am learning a new language. A language that will allow me to continue to learn and educate others in how to restore our economy. Thank you so much for all the time and consideration that you have put into the programs developed for us...

Brian & Tricia

I did it.

I've been trying to keep away from all the people you mentioned. I have a brother that thinks he knows it all. He keeps telling me I should be a salesman in a flea market. I stayed away from him so I wouldn't think of all his negative thoughts.
I always heed your advice, I look for people I want to be like, and I want a house like yours, a car like yours and definitely your bank account. I want to keep listening to you.

No Negative

WClarke's picture

Hey Dean,

My name is Will Clarke, I will tell you a short story about my news experience. I am only 23 years old right now and a couple years ago I said, I'm getting older now, I should probably start watching the news. Well I watched it for about a week and after the one week I was so negative about everything it was unreal. And I am naturally a positive person, I have been blessed with that way of thinking, but the news for just one week turned me into a negative person. So I decided to never watch the news again and since then I never have.

This challenge that you presented is such a great thing for everybody to do. When you feed your head with negative thoughts, you will get negative results in your life. Always feed your brain with positive, and you will get positive results in your life! I have been trying to get my parents to stop watching the news for years now, they don't listen to me and they still think negative about everything.

It is all negative and never impacts your life for the better, so why feed your mind with negative news! Thank you so much for everything you do for me and all of your students. I am loving real estate right now and look forward to meeting you one day soon!

news challenge

the news challenge is easy for me because I rarely watch the news away. I don't like the negativity of the news and don't want my kids to see any of it. working on the negative people thing. little harder. find myself just not nswering the phone.

thanks so much
your student and friend
Erica

Thank You so Much Dean

I love to read Dean's blogs. I am a real estate agent and also an investor. Trust me, I need to hear some positive upbeat things. Conversations around RE offices are not very positive these days. Also really love to read the great comments about all of the success people are having. Positive thoughts are like jet fuel for your ambitions.

Negative People

kilthau's picture

Hi Dean, a few days ago we were at a birthday dinner with a few family members who are negative people. We were enjoying a nice dinner (about half way through) when my wife asked her sister in law how things were going for her. Wrong question or should I say just too much open ended. Her backdrop is since she has retired (in January after working 30 years for "the man" as she calls it), her mother has died, she now is the full time caregiver for her dad (in his 80's), her son is on deployment in Afghanistan, her other son said he is now engaged, and she is suffering from depression and anxiety. Then she said this: "Things are OK I guess, but all Dad says is that he wants to die." He has "checked out" since his wife died, and he is determined to bring down everyone with him. I feel so sorry for her, as she has tons of issues to deal with and mounting doom and gloom attitudes all around. I had to excuse myself from the table to get some fresh air and clear my head. The entire table was silent as I returned as the blanket of gloom from all the bad stuff had set in. Hard to ignore, but I choose to stay positive and focused as you suggest. Thanks for the inspiration.

Dean's challenge

I never watch the news. I only watch the weather. It was very hard not to talk about negative things, but I'll keep trying. Thanks!

News Challenge

Hi Dean,

Hope all is well with you and your family!

I want to thank you for the challenge last week. I did enjoy not listening to all the negative news last week although I did feel a little out of the loop.

Wow its crazy when I think about it I watch morning news for about 1/2 hour everyday; then when I get home I watch the news at 5 (1 hour), 6 (1/2 hour) and before i go to sleep at 10 (1 hour) and at 11 (1/2 hour).

What a waste of life roughly 3 1/2 hours a day of negative news. On top of the fact that yes we are surrounded by negative people all day long!!!

This weeks challenge will definitely be a hard one!!

Thank you, again,

Jimena Tavera (Jay)

Challenge

Hello Dean
Honestly the news diet is a tuff challange for me. I like to read the news paper in the morning. the 1st part of the week was hard, the 2nd part of the week was easy, went to the beach for a few day's with my family we had to much fun to think about the necative stuff that's all around you.
This week i will do my best to be positive and not let the negative thoughts get to me.
I'm still struggling for that first deal and buyers list but making some progress. It just takes me longer to get there.
I know i will succeed
Petra

THANKS DEAN...WHAT A CHANGE

collazoppl's picture

THANKS DEAN...WHAT A CHANGE IN LIVES WHEN WE TAKE OUR ATTENTION OFF THE NEGATIVE AND POST IT ON THE POSITIVE...NOT THAT WE ARE IGNORANTLY IGNORING ISSUES THAT COME ALONG IN OUR LIVES, WE TAKE NOTICE AND PUT WHATEVER WE CAN IN PLACE TO CORRECT THE ISSUES BUT WE LIVE OUR LIVES FOCUSING ON POSITIVE..GOOD..LOVE...OUR DREAMS AND HOPES AND AS U SPOKE OF, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WHICH IS OUR FAMILIES..

THANK YOU FOR HELPING US AS A LARGE GROUP OF PEOPLE TO RE-FOCUS ON POSITIVE/GRATEFULNESS AND LEARN THE POWER IN IT...

XOXOXOXO TO DEAN!! FROM MY HEART WE CANT HELP BUT LOVE U MAN!!

No news is good for you!

I have to admit it was mostly a snap, except my wife and I did watch the weather and a few peaks at CNBC. This week we are keeping it all turned off. We are new to the success acadamy and can't wait to get started. This week we will eliminate the negative people, I just hope there are some left to talk to.Smiling

Avoiding Negativity

Dean and Company, thanks for poking on my sides and telling me to watch the video blog. I needed this! I've been confronted so much by negativity lately, you guys must have a wire in my home or at my business, cause WOW! How did you know?!
Thaks for the challange and I'm up for it. Kill Negativity!

Up for challenge

Hello Dean, Im one that doesn't watch the news since about a year or more ago, or try to get involved in negative conversations, so i know it can be done even tho its seems impossible lol It really does help you worry less and find more time for other more productive things. Helps be a little more stress free. The news can affect you in many ways negatively.

Ive experienced when my family or friends ask me if Ive heard about this or that negative news i say no and usually on to the next topic so you spend less time talking about those things you shouldn't be talking about because they only end up in a stressful conversation even tho you may not notice it cause you do it so much. Ive been guilty of that and still am occasionally but i do my best to keep myself away from negative input or conversations

and so far its worked out pretty well... even tho i slip here and there, but im willing to try harder to stay way from all that...

news

I've been avoiding the news since I started my DG education. It drives me nuts when the tv blasts out someone was killed before I can mute it. This 2nd part might not be so easy because many times if someone is in preforclosure which I am specializing in
they want to tell you why
I will avoid all the rest. Thanks Dean. Keythor56

Hi fellow DG'ers, I meet

Hi fellow DG'ers,
I meet last week's challenge head on and am following with week 2. It makes a HUGH difference when you shift away from negative people in your life. I actually made some steps forward when I dismissed myself from these people.

Dean you're so right? I hadn't been on here much lately and was feeling a little down. No, I admit I didn't try the news thing last week, but you touched on something today that got me on board. Too much negativity in the world....

My REI journey has been a struggle, but I can't/won't give up. I think it's just taking a little longer for me and that's okay. Everything in it's own time.

You keep me going Dean, and for that I thank you sincerely.

Blessings,
Barbara

Weekly blog/ news challenge

Hey Dean, I have read two of your books and have met this challenge in the past, but have always reverted back to catching up on the news eventually. I have found that i was watching alot less of it though. So, I did it again. Absolutely no news. Nothing but positive conversations with friends and family. I am even changing the subject matter of alot of the conversations and have found others walking away with a positive upbeat feeling. Thanks for getting me back on track with this aspect of my life. Have a great week everyone!

NO BAD NEWS CHALLENGE

This is great advice for everyone. It was advised by L. Ron Hubbard, and I have followed his advice for about 20 years. I have almost no negative people in my life and don't watch news or read or listen to the news. I think it helps make you less cynical.

Your second challenge is going to be more difficult, but I can see how it will be well worth the effort. Most of my negativity comes from myself directed toward myself. So, I will gladly take on this challenge and let you know the results.

Thank you so much for all the effort you put in to guiding us to success.

New Challenge

During any of my favorite shows I find myself needing to leave the room, with the mid term elections getting close most of the ads are negitive in one way or another. I found I feel much better if I just spend my time working my seller and buyer lists. currently getting ready to close my 5th purchase deal this year

positive thinking challenge

Just watched you blog on positive thinking challenges. I have to say I am a strong supporter of the steps you are introdocing here. I have been a commited follower of Anthony Robbins (don't know if I can mention names here) for many years. Positive thinking is his main focus. I started my program in 1997 after I had to quit my job to care for my mother. She passed after 8 months of me caring for her at home. What I did not expect was the death of my husband 6 weeks before she passed. I wound up losing house, cars, everything. But, I listened to my program day and night which I believed in. Today, I own a real estate investment company and bought a $600,000 home 5 years ago. Today's real estate market is changing day to day. We are being flooded with calls from homeowners that are getting ready to get foreclosed on and want to shortsale. Plus, I have realtors who send me great deals on REO's. We're making minimum $30,000 dollars from each property. For all those that are new, follow what Dean says. Stay close to those that will give you positive influences in all aspects of your life. If you are forced to be with someone who is always negative, make it a personal challenge to take what they see as a negative and turn it into a positive. Soon that person will learn to do so. I remarried, but had to teach him that there is a lot of good in all we do each day. Have a Blessed Day!

Yes, I did take Dean up on his “news” diet.

vhconnections's picture

I am doing fantastic with the “news” diet challenge in part one. This challenge has allowed me to keep away from negative information. I believe that it is a great idea to stay away from things that would hinder or discourage me for instance, watching the news. Yes, I am also determined, motivated and eager to continue on with part two challenge for this week as well. Thanks Dean, The “news” diet is an awesome idea.

Avoiding the news

I avoid TV more and more because there is so much to do and accomplish with my online course, and steps that you teach, learning Set For Life, seminars, conferences, and networking that the news and television in general is something I try to avoid.

Great Blog Dean

You are such an encouragement!
Not only in real estate investing but in life
It is good to hear someone talking about being positive when this world is so full of negativity.
I is refreshing to follow a course that demands you to have faith. Faith in GOD, Faith in you, Faith in your product, and Faith in ourselves.

thanks so much Dean
