Dean Graziosi Weekly Video Blog #98 - The 2nd Part of the Challenge from Last Week

Dean Graziosi Weekly Video Blog

So, did you take Dean up on his "news" diet
challenge from last week? If so, how'd you do?

Was it tough for you or no big deal?

We want to hear from you, so post your experiences
below. But before you do, watch this week's video
to see what causes Dean to get all "goosebumpy"
after he reveals part two of the challenge.

I think you're gonna like it.

About your challenge.

Yes Dean:
I made it all week without watching the news or engaging in any negetive activity. And ya know what ? (" I like it.")
I even went as far as joining a health club to escape some of the negetivity at home, and there is alot of it.
The only TV progrmming I watched this week was pre-recored adult comedy I consider spiritually uplifting. ( Major League.)

This wasn't an issue at all!

I am a firm believer in "The Law of Attraction" and embracing the terrible things in the world and letting it affect YOU will only create more terrible things for YOU! I highly recommend anyone who hasn't seen "The Secret" to watch it. Every motivational thing Dean shares with us is along the lines of the message of that film. Dean is definitely our prime example in all aspects of wealth we are searching for and I can't thank him enough for really allowing myself to open my mind to another life I deserve.

Last Week

Well didn't watch last week (Newbie) but can relate to what a powerful thing it is to not watch the news. At one time I went abouot 6 months without watching the news or any other tv and it sure made a difference. I was a lot more at ease and had a good fealing about it. So guess you have just reactivated a goosebump fealing of the past and it is time to do it agin. Going to lock myself in the reading room LOLOLOL

positive thinking

I sure did, I did not pursue watching or listening to the news

News Challenge

I'm so fortunate, in that I have had myself on a news fast for a long time. Proud of myself that I recognized the negative influence news was having on me, and I really went against my husband's wishes by avoiding news, since he's a firefighter/ paramedic, and believes (correctly, I'm sure, lol) that we should be informed. So I thought I was "all over" this assignment, and could skate by this week.... unTIL part 2!!! Now I must admit that I am NOT as successful at avoiding negative conversations, and try as I might, I find myself drawn into them often. You see, I'm a "pleaser", and try to avoid challenging those around me to change their focus, or redirect their discussions to more positive topics... until now. I have made the commitment to follow this challenge faithfully for a week, and I'm excited about what I know it will do for me. I remember when you (Dean) some time ago mentioned how you have implemented a strategy in your family that before anyone can say something negative they must come up with 3 positives...and I thought I would implement that with my 2 teens and 1 adult daughters... but I FORGOT!!! I forgot all about it until now. And I'm appropriately chastised by today's blog, and will re-commit myself to dramatically halting the negative conversations that are around me and those I care about. I'm excited about this week! Thanks so much Dean, for caring about more than just our financial lives and our real estate careers, and showing strong guidance for our spiritual and mental well-being as well!

No problem

Hi Dean,

It really was not a big challenge for me not to watch the news. That's because I hardly watch it anyway but I must remind myself to stay away from negative people. Thank you for the new challenge today.

No News

Dean,
I found that I did not miss the news and beside I was to busy with your study course to worry about the news. It gave me more time to also try to get together my power team, and looking at houses.
We may need to look at news now and then but we do need to work at our real estate and keep that our top goal.

Challenge!

I'm constantly thinking positive, in turn it helps boost the people around me. I'm grateful for where I am today, I'm slowly getting my feet wet with Real Estate, and I'm learning a lot. My first deal is around the corner! Heck I'm noticing that leads are falling into my lap now! I'm just amazed at how fast this is happening.

News Diet

Hi Dean,
No problem, I am always on a "News Diet".
I do get the important information I need to have, in other ways.
And, I don't have to hear what the "media" CORPORATIONS, brain wash some people to think is news.
Your My Rock Dean,
Sumara

NO NEWS AND NO NEGATIVITY CHALLENGE

Made it through the first week. Not too bad, only slipped up a few times to get the sports scores and boy, was some it negative or what!

Stopping Negative Thoughts by Being Grateful

Hi Dean, thank you for all the positive energy you bring to our lives. It seems that the message from the "universe" this week is "gratitude". Just before I opened your blog, Challenge #2, I had just finished reading the following message, which I received in my inbox. I would like to share it:
"We can never bring anything to us unless we are grateful for what we have. In fact, if somebody was completely and utterly grateful for everything, they would never have to ask for anything, because it would be given to them before they even asked.
That is the power of Gratitude."

CHALANGE #2

No Problem Dean,
My inner purpose is to be conscience and aware.
My outer purpose is to do real estate.
Am I perfect?
NO. However, I am on track.
No negative news.
I do allow those who choose to be negative, be notative! It's their choice!
I am as positive as I can be at this moment.
Moment to moment.
Stuff happens!
Oh, well.
I choose to live in a positive world!
THATS IT!
Sumara

This is a good one! I don't have T.V. so that was easy. I 'm a very positive person most of the time. In saying that, it is funning that some people,(that I will avoid this next week), is just trying to find something that totally make me mad.
Just sad that some people try to find bad even in the good...
Have a great week everyone & thanks Dean for another reason to avoid the negative.

No News

I don't have a problem with not watching the news, it's always saddly negative and I try to find the positive through out my days. But!, good news, I got my first response from a buyer/investor this week. I'm working on building the list. Thanks!!

challenge

this challenge was simple because I don't watch the news or read the newspaper. All that does is facilitate a negative breeding ground for your thoughts.think about it,if most people examine 10 things that come out of their mouths,8 are negative.

I don't even have cable tv,direct or dish net. I'm not telling you to go that far.I will say this though, It's a lot easier to be positive without such a since of hopelessness that tv and newspapers can give you.

It's no coincidence that the older you get the more defeated you feel. That's because life's constant exposer to negativity has all but extinguished any glimmer of hope you once had.

Two years ago I began the diet Dean speaks of.
Trust me it works but,It takes effort. Doesn't anything worth having come with a price tag?

I've only just begun Deans program and yes I am nervous because I know nothing about real estate
but, given the fact that dean is talking about this is more proof than I need that I am on the right track! thanx D.GIZZI!

news diet

Sorry Dean I can't do the news diet part. Not until after the upcoming elections are over. It's just to important to me to make sure I can make the absolute best decision possible on who runs this state/country. So until Nov. 3rd I can't do it.

Negative Mind set

It was a piece of cake going without the news, the only thing I missed was the weather but it made for a great conversation starter. I kinda knew where you were going with this and I have already started eliminating the negative people in my life, some of them easy and some of them hard. I already feel the difference in my life. I just got off the phone with Darrel Young and he has been a great inspiration to me and is going to talk to my wife and I hope he inspires her as he has me. It is great having someone to talk with the same mind set. Regards Wayne

tv news

no I dint wash any news , but I am train to come up with the money so I can get going soon. I cant wait.

The Challenge

I have to say that this has been a wonderful journey and I am so greatful to you Dean for sharing your life stories and encouragement!!!. I found about a month ago when I was watching the news I was becoming depressed. So I stopped watching and have found that I am more positive and happy. I have a lot to be greatful for. And I have to thank the man upstairs for guiding me in the direction that he wants me to be. Thank you Dean for all that you do and I just love listening and watching all your videos it gives me the encouragement to move forward. So keep them coming!!! Thank you again.

Opt out news

jrmcdoug's picture

Dean,

Great idea! I took the challenge, but isn't it amazing the number of places that negative information comes from. I was amazed that everywhere I turned there seemed to be negative information just coming out of the woodwork. Thank God I have positive people around me to help tune it out. I love to come here as well cause you guys rock!

James

You become what you think about/focus on...

It occurred to me that Dean is pretty much right on, but I've found that even when abstaining from digesting negative news or the negative attitudes of other people, I have to consider the "inner news". I think it's worthwhile to consider not only the input from external sources like news and "negative nancies", but also to consider (and reconsider) the stories we tell ourselves about what is possible, what we're capable of, and what we deserve. We can turn off the TV and lock ourselves in a room alone, but one thing I've found is that you cannot get away from yourself. At least the little self we've been convinced is an unquestionable authority on our worth and capacity as human beings. I struggled for a long time (and admittedly still do, to an extent) against private, unchallenged stories about who I am, what I'm worth, what my purpose is and my capacity to serve, and what rewards I deserve to reap for my efforts. You ever get to work in the morning and realize you might as well have been driving with your eyes closed? It's like you're going on autopilot. I submit that we need to consider the value in seeking to rewrite our software, the programmed instructions we follow without question, until the pressure of discontent builds up to the point that we're faced with an identity crisis. Time to RE-CREATE! We have the power, my friends!

Challenge

Orgalia's picture

Last weeks challenge was easy as pie as my fiance and I don't really watch news because when we are not working we try to spend time with her kids and get their homework done. Then once we have dinner we talk about the stuff we have read in your books and are eager to get going on it. We are starting to write letters as of tonight for real estate agents and mortgage brokers. We both have high hopes and want investments to replace our current "jobs" that we like but know it is no career for us. I hear that Craiglist can be a viable source for finding buyers with cash and I read that the best time to post on that will be during the weekends. Can you maybe go into more detail as to what you would say to attract a positive, legitimate investor to you? Thanks in advance.

1st challenge

Rick888's picture

Well this one wasn't an easy one for a news junkie like me (I DVR some programs Sad sad huh?)
But I did take up the challenge and was able to cut it down to only one program a night. I kept the news off my radio in my truck, I didn't watch the morning news and the one I watched I recorded so that I could skip the commercials and cut it down to just 45 minutes or so.
What did I do with the rest of my new-found time?
I worked on my business, spent a few quality hours with my wife (which meant she had to take a break from her studies and home work too) and tried to de-stress as much as possible. I didn't realize just how much tension I had been feeling in everyday life was from the environment that surrounds me all the time.
In my life, work and even some family are extremely toxic to a positive outlook on life.
When negativity is the norm, you can be blinded to a lot of what's positive in life.
My working environment is a night club where all I hear for 12 hours a night, 4-5 nights a week, is everybody's sad tales and the negative effects of whatever negative event happened that day. I try to help them look on the positive side or at least offer advice on how to solve whatever problem is affecting them. This gets to be a little overwhelming at times.
My family are all going through hard times right now and a sibling is one of the most negative people in the world (mostly self-inflicted) and as odd as this might sound - she just called me. I just spent 10 minutes listening to her negative tirade about her negative life. (acctually I just held the phone out and kept looking for an exit from the conversation Eye-wink)
But that is exactly what I was talking about. I'm surrounded by negative influences all day - every day and so perhaps breaking the news addiction will free up some more positive time in my life to finally break free from the world I now live in.
I'm so glad to have taken on the first challenge as it has helped me to see beyond the "noise" of my surroundings. Although it hasn't been a perfect start, it has been very informative.
As for the new challenge, I'm looking forward to being able to turn off some more of the "noise" by not engaging in as many negative conversations as possible and to try to recognize them for what they are - a waste of time, mine and theirs.
Thanks Dean - you are the best!

meeting challenge

Dean, I am doing it and if there was ever a time that I needed to do this this is it. Just would like to say thanks for doing what you are doing . Right now I am putting all my efforts into realestate and getting a lot of doors slammed in my face trying to make that first dollar for my family. I have a little boy and a 1 year old girl that need me to be strong and overcome the negative people so we can get a place to call home . I told my 4 year old son that daddy is working on getting us a home and a better life and he waits by the door for me to come home with news that we are going to have a place to call home . And to not be able to give him good news each night is wearing me down . So like I said it could not come at a better time .
Thank you from the bottom of my heart .

News diet, no problem... The only thing I look at is the weather (on my phone). The negative conversation is the real challenge, but I WILL do it.

Me, too!

smurfy's picture

Yes, I stayed away from the news and tv in general last week! Yesterday I happened upon the news because my sister was on for a brief few seconds and as I was looking it up, I happened to read some of the headlines as I was searching down the list of videos to find hers. UCK! I could feel the negativity gripping me, then I remembered that I wasn't supposed to be reading the news and I quickly put it out of my mind. What a difference a week makes in purging one's self, and how much that little bit affected my spirit (but only for a few moments). YES! This week I will be on the diet again! It's amazing how much gets done without the tele on Smiling
