Dean Graziosi Weekly Wisdom #164 - Do You Know Who Holds You Back?

If you've been watching these video blogs for any length of time, you know Dean is frequently reminding you to avoid the negative people and negative news whenever possible. Yet, there's another culprit lurking in the shadows. One who can be even more destructive.

This week you'll to see how to identify and deal with this liar. You'll also have a chance to ask some questions about improving your credit score and maybe "throw your name in the hat" as a beta-tester for our improved website. Watch now and post your questions and comments below.

UN believable!

Ya know Dean, its like you been secretly watching me on the webcam - yes I just let off the gas a bit and its not a good feeling!! Just had a fight with the Villian- HOWEVER failing foward faster totatly gives you wings on the way down . Just gonna have to Jason Bourne the sucker!! It is the set of the sail no doubt but for me its always a challenge of balencing how long to keep on the r&d on this site with the volume of info??? and taking ACTION theres always a disconnect there with th efollow thru-- its a time mgmt issure for sure. I also notice a trend of conflicting information at times and that can throw a newbie off for sure. I DO NOT want to miss the RE move this time!! So yes at times I feel a bit anxious but we have to use those good nerves to press forward.

KEWL BEANS AGAIN!

1. Most banks wont do business with people anymore unless they have a "620" score or higher but how will that hurt you in the short run ...mainly getting that extra boost of "SHINE" when you need it the most to get your feet moving a bit quicker?...

2. You are really good at this "WEEKLY WISDOM" stuff ....A CHAMPION DOESNT WIN EVERY RACE! ....HE/SHE HAS TO LOSE A RACE EVERY NOW AND THEN TO STEP FORWARD!....

The villain could be anywhere

Great wisdom this week Dean and timely too.
I just had a meeting with another investor (from outside the family) and when I showed her our webpage (I was looking to show her Matt Larson's "600 deals so far" thread) the first thing she said was about some negative report she had read about you, years ago. Which leads me to: Do I want to associate myself with this person? The pros: It's another investor in my little dinky town to network with. The cons: She might never go along with our process and delay my success. I'm not sure yet how I'll proceed. I do know that I've changed at least 1 person's negativity using my DG knowledge so maybe lightning will strike twice.

Regarding the "New" DG.com, I sure hope you don't screw up a great thing. For some reason, updated versions of existing programs don't always work as fluidly as their predecessors. Heck, I still haven't figured out the whole current site so I am not that excited about the new site yet. I hope you prove me wrong. Eye-wink I'd love to be a tester.

Till next week...

blessing you! (WHAT BOX?)

Hello, Dean I always look forward to your Weekly wisdom! Sometimes it seems one week is sooo long in coming while waiting for your blog and some new thing you will say to wow me! Now I have two teenagers and I think there can't possibly be anything I can be wowed by anymore but you prove me wrong everytime:) Thanks for your inspiration and although you have said it before, it defenitely stands repeating, hopefully in doing so you will replace the Villian inside our heads to the Super-Hero of our own success!

Most EXCELLENT v-blog

FLAREI's picture

It seems as though you hit the nail on the head. For me I recently stopped talking to the naysayers in my life about RE. I've also dealt my inner villian a beat-down. I realize that I'm in control of my life and I want a better one. This (REI) will give me that better life. Working as hard as I want.

I can't get enough of this site, let alone a new one. Can't wait for February when the new one is published.

Thanks again for proving I'm not alone in my feelings.

Weeks Weekly

Ok,
So I am probably paying (well my health provider ins. anyway)Smiling BIG dollars for monthly,bi-monthly "counseling" for stuff that are issues that "get in the way" of my happiness and well being in my life. Anyway, geez Dean.Yea,I get depressed and discoraged with life and have some health issues but let me tell you this - the information on your weekly blogs, the site you have set up for us(DG)and the programs available to take you to a different level (PMI), and so much more that you do. Again... Don't you ever sleep?!
Since signing up and getting involved, I get to bed at 12:00 - 1:00 in the morning now.(8-9 before) I have never been more excited and hopefull about my future and had the security (support) that the DG site provides. All that you promote and put out there is REAL."Infomercial" The irony. I write daily on my excitement here. Thank you seems so inadequate.

A warm Aloha to you and the "Family"!

Thank you Dean

For another great blog. Dean you hit the nail on the head this week. You know I have talked about retiring from my job and making a move to another state. We were just talking to some relatives that just said we were crazy to move. So I do love this site that has like minded people on it.

Dean we would like to try the new DG. Com and give you feed back on it.

Dean thanks for all you do for us.

Steve and Veronica.

First off I have been enjoying all your weekly wisdom's and your conference calls that I've watched so far. I also wanted to ask I signed up for the Free Investing Events in Your Area thing and it was supposed to email me it said and I never got anything from it, is this normal? I tried to sign up a second time and still nothing I know that is off topic but I would like to secure my seat and didn't know who or how to contact someone about this. Hopefully you or someone else will see this comment and can pm me and help me with this. Thank you again!

GOOD STUFF .........

THINK POSITIVE!!!! THAT'S RIGHT !!!!!!HOW CAN WE GROW, AS ANYTHING; A RE INVESTOR, BETTER LIVES, HOPEFUL FUTURE.......AS A PERSON- IF WE DON'T BELIEVE IN OURSELVES- AND WHAT WE ARE TRUELY CAPABLE OF.
A GREAT LADY TOLD ME-" MAYBE IT'S NOT ALWAYS WHAT HAPPENS AT THE FINISH THAT WE'RE AFRAID OF....MAYBE IT'S THE THOUGHT OF THE SUCCESS ALONG THE WAY".

Hello Dean

I so much enjoy watching you and listening to your weekly wisdom blogs. I can honestly say there is not one message from you that I did not feel inspired and the next day have the desire and motivation to succeed in my goals. We all want the best for our family's and to achieve our goals and when you have negative people around you it makes it that much harder. I am so thankful I have my wife Ruby to support me. When that hidden villain comes out I have my doubts to that I might not be able to achieve my goals. But I am a fighter and will unleash whatever it takes to defeat him. Thank you for your kind words of wisdom Dean.

Hey Dean I like your style brother. I read your first book years ago and didn't do much however I did recommend many people to you if they where getting into real estate. I have never read someone teach or talk about real estate so simplistic and with different strategies and markets. You are on the money with the Villain part. I would like to hear more about your experiences of the naysayers when you first started out and what you did to get past.

Man my villain tends to outsmart me by saying smart things that make sense but I started learning this positive self talk that helps get me past. You are are a champion Dean and I got your back in your mission statement and have teamed up with some of your most successful students and ready to align my mission with our like mindedness to change the world. God Bless :0)

You're a Mind reader, you know that?

Good Heavens! How did you know about my "Father's Voice"? That's what I call my inner villain. I love my Father dearly, but he is VERY much a product of the First Great Depression, so you can probably IMAGINE the advice he has to give so very freely. He can be a crotchety old curmudgeon of the First degree, with skepticism towards almost everything, "Because he doesn't want to get taken in", "Use your brain! It's/Everything's a scam", or something like that. I know he's got a LOT of knowledge from a long life as a businessman, but I also realize that the rules have changed since he learned them. I need to learn the new ways, and I can't tell him about it.
He's been visiting this week, and I'm afraid it's going to take another week for me to get my head back on straight and move forward again!
Much thanks Dean, I'll be watching this one again!

Hidden Villain - In Me

Captain777's picture

It seems that hidden villain that Dean mentions is always there. Most times it takes something to trigger his presence before he pokes his head up. What I need to do is focus on the goal and the successes. Regardless if something negative happens or if someone doesn't come through. Remember what has worked and what does happen when things are okay. Focus on the successes and not on the momentary short comings. Dean, this is a very good reminder to "keep your eyes on the prize." Don't let the nay sayers or "things" hold you back. Thank you for always being there.

RESPECT

Susan in MI's picture

I have a father that I love dearly, but eversince I let him down by not fulfilling his dream of all his children graduating from college he looks at me with disappointment and does not respect anything that I say and do. I have decided to keep my real estate aspirations away from his knowledge because I am doing this for me and I do not need nor want anything hold me down.My fathers years of saying things like your chasing a dream and it is all a scam, it wont work, just stick to the tried snd proven ways and you will do ok, pretty much have evolved into this negative nancy that pecks away at my head and I need it to stop. I have long given up on becoming a nurse and concentrating on being successful in REI not to make my father proud of me, but to have something to pass on to my daughter so that she does not have to settle for what is "safe" in the world. I want to offer her options of working for herself and getting rewarded for the amount of work she puts in. Thank you Dean for another weekly wisdom that hit home, God Bless You ;0)

"just stick to the tried and proven ways and you will do ok"

Dean has the above laid out in front of you, just follow the path and take NO shortcuts

Reverse of the Villian

On track! Recently I have had the reverse of the villian, been trying to help others in real estate that won't listen...ugh! It's time to move on and help myself. I want to share and help others, but need to focus on those willing to listen... On-ward and upward!!!

You're right

PaulYoung4ever's picture

As I was listening to you, Dean, I kept hearing this small voice telling me that I can't really do what is expeccted of me to succeed. If I try, everything will turn into utter choas and make a huge mess. For the first time, I now realize what has been stopping me from moving forward. I am so thankful for you and your blogs. I see a little daylight at the end of the financial tunnel every week. That is more meaningful to me than you will ever know. I stop and offer up a prayer of thanksgiving every week after I hear your message. I've been following you now almost a year. I have no doubt that you are genuine. Now, I am questioning if I am genuine.

Great post and

a great reminder too! Thank you.

I considered purchasing Philip's credit course when it was offered but I didn't, maybe this time.

Heroes & Villians

Mark K's picture

Which would you rather listen to?
Another great Weekly Wisdom Dean! Not only do you talk about the 'devil' inside but you also have Philip coming back with MORE great credit info.
Can't wait to see the new site. Wouldn't mind being a tester myself. Thanks Dean!

I have a question for Philip that I don't recall being discussed in his previous materials. How does one go about removing a judgement (providing that one has the money) in the most painless & hassle-free way?

Villian Are Every Where

To everyone God bless, villain are every where its how you deal with them, if you never let them in your personal space you are going to be successful in any thing that you do or put your mind to, first and foremost get rid of that self villain and believe in your self, think of good and evil its that evil spirit that's telling you can not accomplish what you really want out of life, again God bless and Happy Real Estating!

That naughty little nay-sayer devil inside

Again you have given me words of wisdom to grow from! Thank you! Do you have a suggestion/words of how to stomp out the little devil fast so I can listen to the angel instead. Even though my inner strength and confidence can eventually kick the devil off I want him not to be able to take hold.
Enjoy your day!

Thanks for your weekly videos!

I appreciate all your wisdom and experience.....and heart-felt messages!

Every week, I listen to them and so does my 6 year old daughter. When she hears me turning on your blogs, she runs over to the computer and stands next to me to listen also. I think you are becoming one of her good friends!!

Instead of listening to my villian right now, I am going to listen to my positive hero and go out on a limb!

I am coming to the Phoenix area on Wednesday for a week for a family reunion and was wondering if I could take you out to lunch one of these days! It would be an an awesome experience for me to be able to sit and talk with the guru of real estate and maybe help you to find out where many of us beginners are coming from.

I am a member of PMI, but I still have fears and hesitations that I need positive reinforcement with. I also know others that are in the same boat.

Let me know if this is possible! I understand if it is not, but it can't hurt to ask!

Thanks again for everything you do!!

Lynn

Muchas gracias

Hi Dean,

Thank you for the villain update. I know that I have fallen down on the job of keeping the villain under control. Now I am ready to tackle the issues of selling real estate in my home town. That will require a lot of perseverance and the skin of a crocodile.
I would love to be a beta tester. Please keep me in mind.

Thanks again,
Adobedweller

Looking forward to it...

Villains

Spot on weekly wisdom #164. Always look forward to Monday and your inspiring blog. I have finally gotten
my husband to watch with me and it is great to see him
get excited about real estate investing again. We are
former investors that got sidetracked with life. Now
we are trying to get back on track and your encouraging
words are always a good way to start the week with enthusiasm. Yes, we all have those little villains sneaking up on us and yes we need to learn to ignore
them. Now when one pops up I am going to try to turn
her into something positive... I'll show her this blog!
By the way, who is in the photo that sits behind you on
your bookshelf? Always kind of wonder... Look forward to next weeks blog and maybe being a tester.
Have a positively great week.
Thanks, Dean, Linda & Brent

Thanks a billion

Hi Dean

Thanks so much for the much needed encouragement my wife and I have just recently joined the success academy, and so far things have been kind of rough, not on your end but we have just in the last couple of weeks since starting this journey met with RE Agents that say they are gonna help but have yet to produce that which they said they would help with. I woke up thinking man is this gonna work ??? Did we just put ourselves further into debt buying coaching through the success academy? The answer is of course NO we made the correct decision. The doubt that I am feeling is just as you explained...And the only way to overcome is to push forward, and act in a way that would merit the success that I feel is possible. If others can succeed as a RE investor then why not me????

THANK DEAN

thanks DEAN for another great weekly wisdom, that villan almost got me, but i had to get back to what u have been tell me.i got some deals lined up and going to see what happen, dean can u let the DG family know that alot of people are waiting on taxes so,it will be a good thing to change up bandet signs for those people, just want to say thanks for your help,i need that.

The negative people and things around me prevented success last year but with the new year i am re-committed and enjoy every weekly blog. I have my realtor lined up and cant wait to ramp up again.

Thank You for the enthusiasm

Thank you for this Weekly Wisdom, Dean!

Hey Dean,

It's great to have someone cheering us on and encouraging us every week! Yep, that villain has been at my house this very week and it's time to kick him to the curb and make 2012 the best year ever!

I'm throwing my name in the hat as a beta-tester. Please consider me because I'd really enjoy testing out the improved website and helping to make it great.

Yes, I have a question about credit. I've always heard to use less than 30 percent of your credit but recently I read it is now 10 percent. Is that true?
