I could use some help!

Foe one Thank you Dean for helping us out by donating to my wife's cause. As you already know she used to be a DG family member until she got very ill. And because of her illness it has put her virtually bed ridden, she has Lupus plus many complications, and it is funny but because of the economy I lost all my jobs, and insurance, with her being ill the medical bills and our regular bills piled up so high with out a way to pay them we had to let them all go and it ruined our credit . We lost every thing we owned and had to move into a nasty small motel room in a building full of drunks, and drug addicts. The room has mold that is not good for her condition and she is stuck here all day 24/7 breathing it in. Her doctors told me I had to get her into a home so she could start learning how to relearn things and start helping herself or this bed ridden condition could turn out to be permanent for her. But we can't get a loan due to our credit, we can't rent a home because no one will allow us to come in and make the needed changes to their home, and we have not raised enough money to buy out right or make changes that are needed for her to help herself and I desperetly need to get her out of this hell hole. I finally found one job and insurance but it is not good insurance so it doesn't cover everything she needs. But with my job I get home with just enough to keep us in this motel room. I work from 6 AM to 9-10 PM 7 days a week to try and earn extra money to save up to try and get us out of this place but it isn't going fast enough, some thing always comes up with her disease there is no cure and it is fatal many times, so we have a lot of emergencies pop up. The raising the money is also going slow because I can't get her story out to the public, and face book just isn't working well on donations. So to the point Dean or any one else that would want to help. I was really hoping that some one would help me find a home in McHenry, IL. or around the area and either donate it to our cause I know many of your students do that from time to time and you also do that especially around Christmas. That would not only change her life it would give her a chance at a somewhat normal life and give her the chancee to learn how to do these things this illness has taken from her. But I can't do it on my own if I give up my hours and days I can't keep her in this room and we would be on the street. So I need help with this, I thought about trying to rent to own from someone but I don't have the down payment and we could never repair our credit to get a loan to put the home into our name. So it would either have to be some one holding the note until it was paid in full without a down payment or some one that is doing really well in the real estate business like you Dean that would be willing to donate the home as a gift to help her. I know that all of the DG family usually sticks together and since she was apart of that family I am hoping that you all will come together and help me save my wife. I know I can not put up a add for the funds we are trying to raise but you can go to my e-mail address or find me on Face book and message me and get the link to help with donations, a home, or any thing else any of you would be willing to help her with. She is a very kind big hearted woman that would do any thing for any one and I am just asking people to Please do the same for her. Please give her a chance at a life that she can make as normal as she is abl to. I know you asked what we could do different to improve ourselves well for me I would hve prayed more and put more of my trust in God and And to improve things I would pray that I could find a better paying job with better insurance, but I don't have the time to take days off from the only job I have found to look for another or to do real estate. Many of you may find that as a excuse but it is not, without my income we can't pay the rent here, we can't eat, and I can't take care of my ill wife and get her back and fourth to her doctors. I have no help it is just me and my wife so after work everyday I still have to come home bathe and clean up her, fix her food, shop, clean. do laundry, everything is on my shoulders right now. One of the needs in a home of our own is a walk in bathtub shower with a seat so I don't have to carry her into the shower here and sit her in the shower floor and bathe her, the shower is like the room to small, so it won't fit a chair for me to sit her on. When we go to doctor appointments I have to carry her to the car which is on it's last leg because we can't afford a wheelchair or have the room to store one or for her to get around in this room with one. I am a very hard worker and a very quick learner if I had some one that has been doing this for years and knows what they are doing and willing to come here and walk me through and help me do a few deals to earn the money and get started I would appreciate that too but it would be very tough on the time slots. And I can't pay any one. Sorry so long but I needed to tell my story in order to ask my question. Any way Dean I wanted to thank you for the donation to our fund raiser and I hope you or some one else will read this and be willing to help whether it is many people making donations or you or some one else donating a home for her. It will be going to a good person and a good cause, she deserves it, she deserves to be able to walk again, she is my life and all i have,so I just ask if you all will give her a chance at a life. Thank you so much and you can message me if you can help or would like to help or have any ideas or suggestions,or find her Face book page under Karrie Clare Johnson or mine under Robert Johnson in McHenry,IL. There you will be able to find the link on bothour timelines or message me and I will give it to you. Know this is not another product, or job offer, and I did not post any other links and the one that I talk about is for raising money for my ill wife a member of the DG family.

Feeling Good

Bob F.'s picture

This is my first post on the DG site. I have been so busy watching and catching up on all the great info from the past that I haven't taken time to post. My life has completely changed in the last couple of months. I am busier than I have ever been in my life. I work full time, I am a full time graduate student and somehow I managed to find time for this education and to start my own business. From eliminating negative people to eliminating my own negative thoughts, there are too many actual changes in my life to list here. I am currently a courier in the city of Denver and I have been listening to the weekly wisdom's and conference calls to combat my daily road rage and it has helped tremendously (It's hard to be mad at someone for cutting me off when I have such positivity coming through the speakers).
My first offer I happen to drive by a house while working and I pulled over and crunched numbers in the car, sent my agent the offer in a matter of minutes. Although I was outbid on that property, I found out yesterday what the prop sold for and my original calculations were within $100 of the selling price. That is a confidence booster. Although I haven't done a deal yet,(YET is the keyword because I Will) and I am busier and broker than I have ever been, I haven't been this happy in years. Thanks for reigniting the spark in my life!
Thanks Dean and everyone else that has helped!!

Triple B Solutions LLC

Thank you Dean!!!

Things that I will try to overcome in the next weeks are:
-Placing offers
-Contacting Seller off CL to place offers on their properties
-Contacting agents to place offers
-Joining REI Clubs
-Managing my time wisely
-Following up with sellers
-Requesting agents to pull up "cash sold" in my area

I hope you pick me for the laptop. I have 4 kids - my two oldest (ages 8 and 12) are starting to get homework that they need a computer to research and complete projects.

Thanks for the great post! I love the idea thinking about the greater pain of not doing something.

“Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself”: FDR’s First Inaugur

pearl4u713's picture

This is SO true yet I am as guilty as anyone of avoiding my huge tax issues with old S-Corp and finding the way to get office help so I can get current & stay current! The new LLC has accounting backlogged & I've been going through a refi since 08/20/13. Now, it's the old S-Corp back tax returns causing yet another problem. I am attacking it head on now & can only pray that God will get me through all of the "catching up" & get me to where Veil can set up my protective structure. It IS yet another mountain of work for just me for now, but I DO keep putting 1 foot in front of the other & have not quit!

I hope this helps someone else face the #1 problem they are facing that causes them fear &/or "paralysis". I have to get back to my regular job now... til next time-SUCCESS!!!

I'm seeing spots!

To EVERYONE including Dean!
THANK YOU!
Dean just lights that motivational match and all my D.G. brothers and sisters just keep stokin the fire! Thank you all for your inspiration, motivation and proof that determination pays...BIG!
This sight is the wind beneath my wings and "Look Out World" becuase my D.G. family has made me ready to fly...
stay tuned...

I've changed

Hey.. I just want to say that it's possible to change and overcome anything. I just recently celebrated 6 years of sobriety from drugs and alcohol. If I can change .. Anyone can!!! I curious though, do you ever post who actually wins any of these giveaways?

Fear of not knowing

As I sit hear reading the books and watching the videos,I feel confident that I can do this, but when i go to actually doing some of the stuff, like calling the realtor, I get super nervous. The not knowing if I can do this wthout sounding like it's my first time, Or making a complete idiot of myself...
Not knowing if I can talk to the cash buyers, ad get them to work with me...
The not knowing may be my fear, but how will I ever know unless I try. I believe that not trying would be a bigger failure the failing itself.

I know that just geting started is sometimes the hardest part, I've done that and know that I can overcome just about anything.
Thanks Dean for all the advice and support.

Have a great week!!!

Fear of failure

cowboyjimmy's picture

Thanks Dean,
Great information and I will try to put it into action in my own life. Even today I have still done nothing to start my real estate business and the only reason I can figure is deep down I have a fear of failure...

Change

I have been trying to get my first deal done for the past 8 months!!
I used to fear calling people on the phone, but I overcame it, I have no problem
with that now, I've been talking to a lot of agents but they're never interested
in making low offers... but I keep looking for an agent.
I actually found that my biggest fear is that I'm not going to be able to go
through with the whole deal, that something is going to slip and I
will fail!!!
Its very scary doing something you have never done before...
I've always considered myself a brave person. But I get paralized
and then mad because i don't know how to overcome this!!!

But I am not giving up!!!

Great Info - Anyone Can Change

Once again Dean deliver exactly what I am truly working towards. I currently have a fear of myself. I am working on this by daily making a list of 3 things each day that I am truly grateful for that day. I can change and can do so by getting rid of negative thinking.

Fear of Fear Itself

keepmylifesimple's picture

Hey Dean.

I can TOTALLY relate to what you are saying
about avoiding things we don't like and limiting beliefs.

My Mom's mom, (Nannie) as we called her--had
a FEAR of FEAR.

Well, I have the same thing.
One of my BIGGEST fears is ANXIETY and
DEPRESSION--so I do EVERYTHING and ANYTHING like you said--TO RUN!!!

Runaway Bride is one of my favorite movies in fact and I finally realized "I AM HER" in the movie!!

I plan to face my fear of confrontation with my teenage daughter and face my financial situation head-on and not try to "RUN!!!"

In order to do that in my situation, I do need to take care of my physical and emotional health.

It is a motivation to me to take care of my health now because it will enable me to also face my fear of fear.

In addition, I want to get just ONE bird dog deal to feel the joy from doing it.
I want to associate each uncomfortable step with LESS PAIN than the pain of being in debt.

Thanks for letting me share. Patty Smiling

Changes

scottg5963@yahoo.com's picture

Another great Weekly Wisdom, thank you so much! I, like you, do not like confrontation. I even have a problem posting a comment like this knowing that many people might read it. But I've been stuck in a rut for a long time, and it's time for a change for the better. I'm going to work on making the phone calls I need to and asking your support team for help when needed.

Not Just Confrontation...

I find it hard to start and continue conversation to a person, and if I do speak, it would consist of a sentence or two of at least 5 words, plus what with most people not hearing my words clearly initially. Even then I still would worry whether or not I had said correctly whatever I had in mind to people, for they often would not understand me the first time. Still, even as I am still on my 1st deal, I am quite intent on being successful and continuing to be so in Real Estate, as I couldn't imagine what would life be like for me if this path weren't taken.

Currently I am on my way to assign a rental bundle, and I plan to make 50k+ on the deal, if possible.

Hmmm

It's an interesting post, but I'm not sure how to go about it. My fears are about looking stupid. It's a very deep feeling. Very emotional. How do I associate looking stupid with a positive? I don't feel I can "Just do it". Is there some process. Feelings are hard to overcome with just a thought...

Conflict and avoiding it all cost?

Dean as usual a great weekly wisdom..I'm like you when it comes to conflict and choosing to avoid it. What if when being confronted with a conflict moment we begin to look at the true cost of avoiding the issue at hand, lost opportunity to make some money, or a new friend or even a business associate? Well I'd bet our actions would be very different. We all need money, we all want money to live on, but not all of us are able to get past the stumbling blocks. So keep singing your song Dean of anyone can succeed in Real Estate investing and sooner or later it will be heard clearly by all who desire to change their spots and soar the an eagle!

dont like confrontation too

CaliTony's picture

am the same i always in my life have tried to avoid it if i could, little better at it now but am going to get even better, we live in a cynical pessimistic world what can we do but stay encouraged and positive even if the rest of our "friends" & family say were crazy, hey i may be a nut but i am screwed on the right bolt! Stumbling forward

After going through the academy and inner circle training a year ago, it sometimes got frustrating. We felt we missed an opportunity in Phoenix with the foreclosures and vacant houses all scooped up in the prior years. But, always moving forward, we found a house in March that was not on the market, but had been vacant for several months. The owner had passed away two years ago and there was a two year court battle that ended with the loosing party trashing the property.

The appointed personal representative was tired from the 2 year court battle and wanted to get rid of the house. Acquiring money from tips we learned from your academy, we purchased the property on June 10th, for $62,500 cash. We put $28,500 into renovation. We accepted an offer more than the asking price and closed on the house in August for $142,200. After closing costs and holding costs, we made $38,600 profit.

We have so much more confidence to make deals happen now, because we never gave up!

Confrontation, No Way!

Dean you hit it right on with this week's video. I can totally relate to that, I used to hate confrontation until I realized I was missing out on what was on the other side, if only I had pushed the issue a bit further. I learned a great deal about this from Tony Robbins. These are neuro-associations and limiting beliefs that we can overcome. I used to be very shy and thought everything I did wasn't good enough for everybody but I over came that,it doesn't mean I am combative in any way, but now I can move forward with a new sense of direction. Thanks for everything that you do.

The fears I have

I definitely have some fears or things that I avoid because I don't like doing them.

Posting bandit signs

I get nervous about it

I will do the exercise and see how it works.

Government Healthcare And Reduced HUD Housing Assistance

geveret's picture

My husband and I have both been disabled for many years and we are really worried our government healthcare will soon become rationed care like Canada and other European countries. The current administration wants to expand government healthcare to cover more people who cannot buy into health insurance. This expansion will bankrupt the current Medicaid and Medicare system and lead to rationed care for anyone who depends upon government healthcare due to either age, disability, or poverty. Another concern we have is the reduction in HUD Section 8 Housing Assistance everywhere in the United States. Our Section 8 rental assistance has decreased $65 a month since January and our rent increased $59 a month. Now we struggle to pay our rent and we worry about next year when our rent will increase $78 a month. Moving to a cheaper apartment is not an option since we do not have any money to move after we pay our rent and medical expenses the first week of the month.

Change

Change can be a hard obstacle to overcome, but the trick is knowing that it can be overcome especially through motivation.

My wife and I are just getting starting with property buying, we have already attended a workshop and are currently reading up and learning more about real estate. Sometimes we feel overwhelmed until we start thinking of it like we are trying something new such as a new job, a new sport or even a new place to live.

Once you jump in and get used to it you adapt and understand your new venture, and that is exactly what we are doing and we feel blessed to be able to start this change in our lives.

Thank you Dean, and thanks to your team for keeping us motivated and also for caring. We can't wait to be your next superstars.

Confrontation

Hello Dean, another great weekly wisdom. I fear that I will not learn real-estate and I really want too. I am just having a hard time getting started.

win graziosi's inspiring laptop!!

i sure would like to win a college laptop for my two favorite campuses, 'santa monica college' + 'westwood college'!
would certainly help my computer studies... . ...
actually, i'm most afraid that i can't come up with the cash ((soon enough)) to buy into your lucrative offering of a list of overflow properties from your holding!
i believe i should just keep pacing myself to absorb, through these studies, a concise understanding of your real estate principles for investment profits! a most immediate cash flow seems to be the ongoing goal...
i hope you show up at the sunday conference i'm going to at the 'university (of) southern california' this weekend!!

My only true Fear

Hi Dean,
My only fear that is keeping me from excelling and moving forward toward property investing/ownership is child support. Currently they take so much of my income I barely have enough to live on month to month. In fact if it wasn't for the grace of the church I would be homeless as I was 5 years ago. I have only been housed for 2years now. I recently received a copy of there new guidelines which allows them to seize anything that I buy, car house, or start a business in my name and that include the funding to start that business with. From this I have had a number of heart attacks and now live on SSDI, which I find is so limiting which the balance that I am left.

So I am trying to find someone that would like to do this with me and establish a trust fund and company via that trust fund to hold the company. But I could use some personal help to put this into effect. I have even found someone to teach and that person has deals listed/posted. But they don't know that I have not done a deal since I lost my company from the amount that child support wants for my ex-wife.

How can you help me with advice?

Always Fulfilling

Thank you Dean for always providing uplifting messages. These weekly words of wisdom are not only useful to real estate, but to every facet of life. I have never been disappointed and look forward to many more. Keep them coming!

Can't Wait!

Am lookking forward to your seminar tomorrow!

Weekly Wisdom #254

Hello Dean:
My biggest fear is making costly mistakes when doing Real Estate Investment deals because I am new to this field. I just completed the Professional Marketing International (PMI) training Online on September 4th, 2013. I have been in the process of trying to put a Power Team together to help make myself an efficient investor. I need to be more involved in practical activities that would put me in contact with more Buyers,Sellers and Renters. I need your feedback and advice. You are correct about the effects of limiting beliefs could have upon one's game plan - I have to get rid of my limiting beliefs.
