If you consistently learn & take the action steps along the way, you'll get there. If you study up on most of the success stories in the world, you'll be amazed at what they went through to get to where they are at now. The only difference between you & them is they kept taking action, no matter how many road blocks they hit, because your going to hit road blocks & you have to do the opposite of what your minds telling. It really is you "your mind" saying I don't know if I can do this. Our mind is set up to protect us, so try doing the opposite of what your thinking.

I know what your going through. It's hard to get over the fear. Trust me. I'm a 23 year old college student. And i want to devote some time to make some money on the side. This is what keeps me going and not letting anything stand in my way. Have a strong vision of you want out of investing in real estate. I have plenty in my head. Like dean said try to have a child like enthusiasm towards this.

What a great idea munnyflo...reading the book and creating CD's. Not only will it make sure you pay attention and absorb what you are reading, but it will give something productive to listen to while I an bike riding or at the gym. I love it!

Just for your information, in case you didn't know, Dean has his books on audio. He had a professional reader record them and they are available on this site. (Something like $29.99 for both books BARM & PFRRN.) The new one might be available too.

None the less, I think it is great what you did. You've GOT to stay connected and you've GOT to be enthusiastic! You've GOT to have a constant inflow.

I am relatively new to dg.com... but I would like to welcome you. I haven't posted a lot, but I read the message threads, watch the videos and listen to the audios just like I was getting paid to do it.

Here are the top 7 reasons why people fail (in my opinion):
7. Easily distracted or talked out of pursuing their interest
6. Lack of belief in themself
5. Poor or no training
4. No "why"
3. Lack of a system or failure to utilize an available system
2. Unclear goals
1. Fear

Kendale, one of my mentors drilled into me that before the cowboy gets the herd of cattle or horses, he builds the corral. In 'YOUR TOWN Your Real Estate Profits', and 'PROFIT FROM REAL ESTATE RIGHT NOW', Dean suggests action steps for us to take (or gives us 'recipes' to follow=the corral).

So we have a system to follow...training from DG; writing our goals, recognizing our 'why', staying focused, and believing in ourselves is on us individually (but I will say that I believe you can do it)...

And as far as F.E.A.R. (false evidence appearing real) goes...Paul Tillich wrote 'The Courage To Be' which basically says that at some point, everyone suffers from fear and anxiety, to which I agree, but I also believe that, as individuals become highly trained, anxiety and fear are replaced by confidence (police, doctors, firefighters)...

Think of Capt. Sullenberger, who when asked did he want clearance at one of the local airports, said just as calmly, 'No, I'm going to be setting her down in the Hudson' (I'll say I'm paraphrasing, but that's almost verbatim what he said).

Now, having said all of that, yesterday I placed a post on craigslist (for the first time), and today I received an email that this Wall St. investment firm had about 45 REO's in my neck of the woods, that they wanted to dispose of... (the actual number was 37), but now I will turn to the DG family and ask for suggestions on how I might approach this (with no money, no job, and a mediocre credit score) and ...I know you eat an elephant one bite at a time... but I need to know how do you get him into the oven???

Kendale, I believe you can do it...as do others here, just take some action every day, and remember...people don't plan to fail, they fail to plan.

Thank you so much.I guess i just have to keep hearing it from others.I do have quite a few people telling me that I am crazy.This is in my heart because I know that It will be a very big life changing experience for me.Sorry that I am replying back so late,But I had a bill problem and had to search for help to pay it in the county where I live.This also has motivated me because it is crazy how many people out here do not want to help those less fortunate.My heart goes out to these type of people because I am one of them.So I know what they go through.I never want to have to seek help again,It was terrible.When ever I accomplish what I am ready to do.I am gonna make sure that I assist others as much as i can.Why make them feel worse then they already are.God bless you and thanks for the encouragement.I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thank you,I appreciate everyone giving me their advice and making me see the light.You know when others tell you time and time again that you can not do something.It can make you feel really down.But what I am thinking about now is that special moment when I can take my kids somewhere for the summer,or simply pay for field trips,glasses etc.I have given myself a three month goal.I am hoping to have done a deal or two by at least the end of the kids school year,which will be June 16th here in Columbia,Maryland.Wish me luck.And thanks again.

Even though I have done several deals I still today have a little fear. Not as bad as it once was. I really had a tough time getting started, But now its great. If you get a chance check out my journal and you will see all the obstacles I faced. And If I can do it with no money so can you.

I'm new to Dean's family but not to real estate. I have been at it for a few years and have not yet realized my dreams. I can truly say if you want it, go for it don't let the fear of the unknown paralize you as it has done to me for so many years. You don't want to be saying years from now, if I could turn back the hands of time I would have been a millionaire already. I look back and see my fears and mistakes, which gives me the motivation to take action and keep moving. My advise to you is keep reading, take action and ask plenty of questions. Give yourself the authority to be scared but, continue moving forward, listen to your heart and stay away from negative people. I'm starting over again, but this time around I will succeed to fulfill my dreams and hope you will also. Good Luck!

Just get out there and meet people with the same mindset. Find a local real estate investors meeting and attend. The first meeting is usually free. Then maybe watch for any local auctions and attend them and strike up a conversation with the people there. They are BUYERS! There are many of us single parents out there barely making ends meet and this is the surefire way to secure a future for yourself and the children.

Remember, just because you have struggled so far in your life does not mean you have to keep struggling!

Hi Kendale I am also new at this. Sorry it took so long to read this but I have been in and out of the hospital so many times and now in rehab for my legs. But I am getting better and reading my books; going over the web to answer any questions I might have; also seeing that I am not alone with my fears because our DG family are right there to help us.
