you and many more on this website help me continue on this REI journey; I joined the Academy in September, and every day I look forward to finishing my workday so that I can come home and spend time on my investing career- even when I feel exhausted, I find it hard to get away from this website and from studying DG's manuals.
Just wanted to let you know that your words of advice and your accomplishments are very encouraging to us who are just beginning.

But, you think that made me CRY. No it made me push harder to the point where I document my Day to day Activities to show you at this year's Edge. You and Julie will Laugh. You do not have to apologize to anyone because it is the Truth. You can make Excuses or Money. I personally Choose Money Since Randy is too busy to reply to me. Hey, you keep the post coming. Great post it needed to be said. We try to help the ones that struggle with REI. Some take the advice and some do not. It takes action if you have money or if you do not have money. No action no REI.

for your post and comments. I was just thinking this very week that this road to riches is a lot of hard work. I've been at it for about a year and still haven't made a check yet, but somehow that doesn't get me down. I keep seeing what is in front of me and what is coming. My first "flip" became a flop and now I'm trying to rent it. Two weeks ago someone broke in and stole the brand new hot water heater. Two days ago the main water line broke for the second time. Well, at least it didn't break inside the house! And there are two potential tenants interested....and my new flip is in a much better neighborhood and got a higher ARV appraisal than I even expected.

I'M STILL EXCITED! I'm exhausted from working a full time job and putting every minute of energy into a new business, BUT I'M STILL EXCITED. And no matter what....I keep putting one foot in front of the other. You have to go forward on the road to get there!

Man, Randy, those words go a long way toward encouraging those of us who get frustrated and keep telling ourselves, "It will work out!" over and over. YES it will take time, YES it will not be easy, YES you have to be honest with yourself and decide if you really are committing to this right now or you're not. To those that read this and are offended, come back another day when you can read it again and laugh.

I think we also learned that you are truly a giving, SACrificing type (yes, couldn't resist my own silly comment!)

You seem like a great character and I do hope to meet you someday; at the EDGE, in the waiting room in Urgent Care, wherever! Take care and continue to keep us honest!!

Ouch sometimes the truth hurts but Randy I think you hit the nail right on the head! I'm a firm believer that the only things in life we can truly control are ourselves and our reactions to external events. And most of us including myself have a hard time with both of these but they can be achieved. Everything else we are told about control is just a delusion based on statistical inference i.e. I've turned the light on by using the switch the last 99 time I've tried so I control the light coming on. Well what happens when the bulb burns out, or the electricity goes off, or there is a short in the cord how much control of the light do you really have? We can make a choice to succeed or not. To use the information and tools that Dean and the Success Academy provides or not. Ultimately it is up to us to succeed or fail. To paraphrase Napolean Hill success comes to those who are ready to receive it.

Well the upside to all of this at least you are taking action. Just keep your head held hi. i am sure their are some great deals calling your name.

Your so right about being positive everyday because it is so easy to be negative and cause your day to go bad. If your negative during the day realize that you are wasting more energy being upset and will not find ways of getting things done. Everyone must know that this world does not owe you anything and if you want something you have to work hard to get what you want and develop an attitude that allows you to be creative when things are going bad instead of sitting in the corner giving up. Look at it like this there is so many people that get up everyday and go to a job they hate, but they have been doing it for years so because you do not like what someone said to you or it is taking you awhile to find your first deal do not give up because you are being tested to see how motivated you are to do this and remember that you have to have a passion for this business, just do not think you can jump on and ride the success wagon with everyone else. For people who are passionate about real estate you have to create a system to get people calling you and finding deals and work that system to the t. Meet with people in your area and network by attending functions because no one will know what you do if you stay in the house and hope your phone ring with a deal. Good Luck everyone and God Bless! What Randy, you sure know how to give that sucker punch. You remind me of many other straight forward people on site who says it like they see it. Way to go. We have to be always reminded that success will not come by constant complaining. By the time all the complaining is over, the market would have turned around and we would have lost our opportunities. You are being honest and giving some tough love here. I really like what you said. and yes I was one that it took me a while to figure out what would work best for me. So what it took 9 months. But The rewards were unbelievable. And if anyone hangs with negative people all the time this is almost impossible.

Unless you have no choice but to be around someone who's negative all the time. Best thing in that situation is learn how to defend yourself against them and turn on the IGNORE button. I found stopping them from saying something negative before they're finished forcing their negative on you " ... ahhh, ehhh, ehhh... NO, no, you can't say that until you say 3 positive things about your day." Makes 'em walk away.

Also, one time the negative person even said 'nothing positive happened today' so I told him that it looks like he can't say what he's going to say then. Shut him up and he walked away.

PS: Won an auction today, hoping Fannie approves it as it didn't meet the reserve.
