Am I the only one that's noticing that this week's blog (#138) is on track to have double or even triple the replies that there were for the Joplin blog (#132)?
I'll be the first one to admit I replied as quickly as I could for the ipad drawing, but if you check the other thread you'll see I was in there too just as well.
I don't know if this thread will be deleted or not, just saying that it's a shame that more people will participate in the hopes of getting something in return vs helping other people (even when it wasn't coming out of our own pockets).

Click on the title of the blog so it reloads and it should play the right video for this week.
I had that problem as well.

All these posts for an I-pad and in only 24 hours. Unbelievable ! I can hardly wait for next Sunday to hear Dean's response and see who won. Looks like wholesaling all the way.
Mark it's like the blog Dean did for private funding they really came out of the woodwork, over 932 post on that one I saw that the post were so high I watched just to see what he could possibly be doing this week to generate all the response.

Just saying,
If the Joplin blog was this active Dean would've cut a check for $50,000 or more instead of the $30,000.

Yes Mark it is sad.
People are more willing to try and get something for free than to help some one in need.
This day and age, we need to invest in one another and help as many people as we can. With out LOOKING for something that is free.
I didn't even know about what he was doing for Joplin, as I didn't watch any blogs for quite a while, was not on the this site much, only stopped in a couple times and put out a couple replies. But I didn't even know about it till I went on one time and watched several blogs, and by that time he had already been there.
As for the IPAD, to be honest, I don't even know what they are till he showed it. Still don't know what it does. Even my cell phone is so old, doesn't do pictures and I don't text. Don't know how. So have been back to watching the blogs the past two weeks. Don't know how these Ipads or IPODs work. I am stilling figuring out facebook, and not having really good luck with things I try on that.
A friend showed me her Smart phone on Mothers day, said I should get one, and showed me everything it does. But was totally lost as she was flipping around showing me everything.
But I was shocked when I saw all the responses.
If I had one, probably couldn't afford to do whatever it does anyways.
But wouldn't be right if anyone puts more than one comment on.
Sandi
I post on almost all Dean's blogs, but I couldn't believe it was over 800 and so much faster than raising money for Joplin. (I posted about 15 times on the Joplin thread ) It is sad. One of the things I look forward to most is being able to give so much more than I do/can now.
I'd love an iPad, but if he gave a choice of the iPad or a $1000 donation to Joplin, I'd opt for the donation if I was the winner. I can EARN money to buy the iPad thanks to all the techniques Dean has shared with us!
Totally agree with you. It isn't just Joplin that still needs help. But like I said, I don't even know what an IPAD does, found out in Feb what an IPOD does, but never even seen one other than on ads.
Guess I don't get out much
And I'm sure a lot of people on here can afford their own, or even already have one. Either way, it is nice of Dean to give his extra away. ( and thought about the empowering conversations too.)
Have a great evening everyone
Did you notice, I finally got a picture on here?? That is Boots and my farm house that had the driveway collapse...oh well, at least there were no neighbors in sight!
I thought the Joplin blog was great and so very simple. I didn't understand why more of us here in the DG family didn't act. I find it such a testament to the way our society as a whole has become more self serving over the last decade. It cost none of us anything but a little time to get the chance to win an IPAD the same as it cost to help Joplin...kind of a sad commentary of these days we live in.

Mark and everybody,
I completely understand where you are coming from but if you look at all aspects of the two blogs, there are only a few differences.
Blog #132 'Joplin' received:
1,958 Facebook Likes
709 comments.
As of right now, Blog #138 'iPad Giveaway' has received:
215 Facebook Likes
1137 comments.
This is one of those situations where it depends on that person's perspective. As I stated in the beginning, I completely understand where you are coming from, there definitely could have been more comments on our Joplin blog but if you remember back when Dean did his donation, each Facebook Like was worth $5 and Dean's Joplin blog had almost 2000!
Yes Blog #138 has more comments but that is the only way people can get the chance to win the iPad. Blog #132 had plenty more ways the DG family could contribute to a worthly cause.
As part of our Site Administration team, each day I am amazed by how well our DG family contributes. Either contributing to each other, to the Joplin donation, providing Dean and our Team with feedback, answering questions on forums, etc.
I just wanted to take a little bit of my time and explain my perspective on this forum and express my gratitude on the situation.
Thanks
Jeremy
It is all about perspective and another person's view or viewpoint. I did not look at it that way and then I am not good with technology so I do not have facebook and twitter and the like. Therefore I was not able to do the like part. I do like to contribute and this is good communication in the DG family. Keep us in line guy. Much appreciated.

Jeremy, thanks for clarifying the numbers for me and everybody else.
I also had an interesting thought, what if the increased traffic and new users generated from the Joplin blog is part of the increased comment & view rate on this blog? That would probably explain a lot too!
Whatever Dean's coming up with next, it sounds like a doozy.
Take Care!

I didn't think of that, the Joplin blog could of also been a big cause of the increased amount of comments. Either way, the DG family came together and pulled through for both blogs!
Thanks,
Jeremy
Mark-
I'm with you. I love your quote "Go where you're needed and you'll never wonder why you're alive." I try to live that way.
I'm also a marketer by trade. Dean is giving us a lesson in human nature and a lesson in marketing with this blog. First it's human nature to be optimistic about winning the one iPad. (Hence, the lottery's success.) It's also human nature to give something (in this case a little time) in order to get something (in this case a chance to win an iPad filled with goodies).
That's why so much of Dean's marketing works so well. You give something, (like free advice on the recorded messages for people in danger for foreclosure), and people are more apt to want to deal with you. That's why charities send little gifts in the mail.
One of the best things about this community is that so many people give without any thought of reward.
Blessings, Bonnie
It's funny to see folks post more than once for blog #138 (whether they know it or not).
indeed mark.

Mark,
I don't think it's sad at all; I'm surprised to see so many people leaving a comment that I normally don't see on his other blogs that offer some great advice; or on any of the great posts that other members share on this site.
I do wish that someone who really needs an Ipad to make some deals happen will win it!
Wishing everyone success,
Valerie

I totally agree with you Mark K.
I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CRIST, WHICH STRENTHENS ME!
If I win it I am giving it to another DGer. She knows who she is. She has an ancient computer. Anyone remember the Commodore 64? jk, but it is outdated!
THE C64? lmao, I know you were jk but that's funny.

IF it helps anybody I use Mailwasher PRO, it's a retail email pre-screener.
You set this up like your email client. When email come in on your email services server you have the option of reading it in text format only, deleting, bouncing and blacklisting. All of this while your email still resides on the mail server.
So if you delete something, when you check your email with your regular client (outlook, eudora, thunderbird, etc) it won't be downloaded because it was deleted on the mailserver.
If you do go this route, do not leave your email client open or it defeats the purpose. You leave mailwasher running so it gets to your mail first and you can do whatever before it gets to your computer.
After you have checked and seen everything is acceptable (after deletions, etc) then you can open your email client and run it as normal, check your email and then close it out again.
I've been using this for about 9 years now.
Just an FYI.
Almost forgot to add, I'm not in any way affiliated with Mailwasher PRO, just one of those rare products that do what you expect.

Yeah, I don't really miss those old pieces of 'computer genius'. Now, I've got all these great BASIC programing skills and can't even use them any more! I programmed a keyboard to play music and thought it was the greatest thing. My, how far computers have come!
