I felt like I was gasping for air!! I didn't realize how much I depend on coming here to record activities (even if only a fraction of them) and visit with the DG Family! I guess I'm as addicted as ever! LOL!!!!
So, as I move forward with even bigger and better REI, I look forward to keeping up with everyone's journals, sharing what we can to help each other, and rejoicing in each DG Family victory!! Dean is so awesome to keep this site going (and always for FREE!)
One thing I thought would be fun is to include some vlogs. Maybe we can get deansmedia.com to be a catalyst for sharing REI vids on a regular basis, or any of the video sites for that matter (just post a link in our threads). LOVE seeing everyone.

Closed on another property yesterday ($35K). Will re-sell next week for $40K. Not a lot of profit on this one, but the buyer wants 5 more from me, so I'll make sure I get some good spread on those.
Got a call back on the 48 short sales. I'll be looking at all those probably next week and decide what to do after seeing how much potential there is.
Laura and I are finally closing on the 80 acre farm tomorrow!! YAY!!! It will be our first property bought together, and she will be on her way to WI in just a few weeks! SOOOOO excited!
I think I am going to let the REI dust settle and not get any new deals going until she gets here. (unless there is a deal-of-a-lifetime that just pops itself in my face!)
I hope everyone is honing their keen REI skills to always be watching and listening for opportunities. You just never know when one might be sneaking nearby.

Lea, Thank you!! And I will definitely keep you posted on the short-sales. I don't know what is the deal with that guy. It will be interesting to meet him. It took me like 3 phone messages and 2 emails before I got a second response from him. Don't know if he's weeding out tire-kickers or if he's a busy person or if he's in a half-hearted position on this (which could be understandable). But either way, it will be interesting.

To Rina and all others, a big Texas howdy!
I started this idea with my fiance, her dad and my mother about 2 weeks ago. I recently was laid off from work and had already started the beginning stages of my "new" somewhere in the future "old" job. We all put out heads together and figured doing something like this was a great idea all the way around. So I've got good invenstors (including myself) and plenty of opportunities. I have been in commercial and residential construction over 20 years and know just about everybody in town. If I can really pocket some cash I can do a lot of the work myself.
Anyway, we all decided that this was a good idea and why waste my talents and time in one more dead end 75-90K job when there was so much more we could do. Out of the blue yesterday I wake up in the middle of the night and the TV is still on. You got it, it's Dean. Strange how fate has a funny way of getting in the middle of things. The books are coming and I will probably take advantage of the coursework and mentoring program.
I joined this site yesterday after piling through post after post and reviewing video after video. I started reading Rina's first chapter and before I knew it I had lived her entire two year progression to where she is now. I feel compelled to introduce myself and let you know how much I hope to meet you all someday. I was confident things were going to work well already but it is invaluable to come here and get encouragement and testimonials. My family is a great asset to me in this deal, but on a day to day basis it will be me and me alone. I will start a journal as soon as we start the first property. Looking in earnest right now and going to the next Sherriff's sale here.

Well, closing went smoothly today. My friend and REI partner Laura and I are the proud new owners of the 80-acre farm with all the pluses that come with it! Woohoo!!!!
(Listed at $259K, purchased for $164K. Ins agent actually wanted the BUILDINGS alone insured for $278K!)

I cannot WAIT for my DG sister/partner to arrive next month! To work together, just 4 miles apart, after over a year of doing deals together long-distance (NJ to WI), will be SOOO incredible. My hat is SOOO off to her for the HUGE decisions and changes she is making in her life. Wow, I have such admiration! It takes guts to uproot yourself totally, and for two people to throw total trust and confidence in each other when they have literally only been in the physical presence of each other 3 times in their life!!
Just goes to show that this site produces miracles.

I have been wanting to pick up properties down there but my daughter Shannon (who likes Real Estate and lives in the area) is not quite bold enough at 22 to be my boots-on-the-ground, so I think Amy is going to be a GREAT partner, and maybe she and Shannon can be support each other, too!
Perfect example of watching for opportunities and jumping on them (Hope I didn't scare the poor girl. lol) (Thanks Amy in case you come in here!
