I *did* search for this topic so if it was posted previously I apologize for having duplicated it.
I'm a Real Estate Investor in the Dallas metroplex. I just started using the business social network called Linked In at LinkedIn.com but have only had 2 groups accept me as a member so far. The other groups either don't respond or they say they don't grant access to users without any Connections because that sometimes indicates they might be spammers. I've requested some Connections of some of the DG Mentors but haven't received any replies so it's "Catch 22".
So, I was thinking maybe any people here who are new to LinkedIn could all join each other's LinkedIn networks as Connections to help each other out ... at least until we can make some Connections on our own. It would probably be best to provide our location too so that we would be able to choose those closest to our area.
Is there any reason this might be a bad idea? Do any of you think this would be a good idea? If so, maybe we could just lists our LinkedIn info on this Forum topic. Or if any of you would like to send me a PM regarding this topic, you are welcome to do so.

Hey Sandi,
You're welcome. I'm glad my explanation was helpful. If you want to start joining Real Estate groups on LinkedIn (and I recommend that you do), you might find that they automatically put your request in Pending status unless you already have a few Connections. That's what happened to me. Once I make a couple of Connections I withdrew my group join requests and then re-joined and the groups and they automatically gave me access this time. So you might want to start sending invitations out for Connections.

I know this is off-topic, so I'll be brief. I really like that your website lets people know up front that you wholesale. It doesn't pretend to be a company who flips or holds properties and it makes it clear from the beginning that Wholesaling is what you do and that you will find an end buyer. I like that honesty. I'm trying to create a website myself and I think I will follow your lead because I'm mainly interested in Wholesaling for now until I get my credit cards paid off and can afford to signup for the Success Academy. But I digress ...

Yeah, I kept thinking my Pending group requests would eventually change from Pending to Accepted once I had a couple of Connections, but they didn't. So I made a list of the Groups that were still Pending and then I clicked on WITHDRAW on each of them. Then I did a Search for each group and when I clicked on JOIN *most* of the groups said Welcome and I was a member! I still have a couple groups that say Pending but I guess those are not set to automatically approve so I will just have to wait for the group owners to approve me manually.
I requested Carol Stinson to Connect again, so fingers crossed! Maybe now that I have a couple of other Connections she will accept.
As far as how many Connections you would need, I'm not sure. I only have 5 right now but I only had 2 or 3 when I did that so I'm guessing it may have been because I had zero Connections. Good luck! I hope it works for you too.

What a great idea! I'll be posting a discussion for an investor-friendly agent in LinkedIn as you suggested. Let them come to me instead of me having to try to locate them. So please understand the differences
You will see REAL money individuals, ie, lawyers, investors, developers, etc, who may not accept an invite unless youre connected to someone they know, but trust they will lose patience if you come at them with that fake "I have a 3br, 2 bath home for sale" and you cant come through.
Be honest, and instead telling them what you have, ask them what they are looking for or if they have something you could find a buyer for them for.
Devise a plan that works for you and your area; it doesn't have to be by the book.
Well said, Elix. I've heard people say we should "Fake It Til You Make It" and to place Ghost-Ads for properties that we don't really have locked up and to tell Realtors that you've done deals even though you haven't really done any deals. I don't lie and I try to never deceive others with half truths so I don't feel comfortable doing any of that. I believe that the truth is the best path and that it will ultimately lead you to where you really want to be.
